Chota Imambara, a Lucknow landmark, is also called the Husseinabad Imambara, and was built as the mausoleum for Muhammad Ali Shah, the Nawab of Awadh. It was completed in 1838 and is part of the Kaiser Bagh complex. The interior of the Husseinabad Imambara include some remarkable Arabic calligraphy and glass work. This is from among the very first Tuck India series, when no caption was printed on the back. It is postmarked July 3, 1905, and was address to a Miss Houston, 19 Alderley Road, Hayake, Cheshire: "[Verso Lt. John Houston of Browning [sp?] was buried today. The old ones are all leaving us very quickly. Ainslee." |
