This one was taken when she wasn't aware, therefore, quite an authentic look. Also, no editing whatsoever, simply shot into a table lamp with a very cold WB. Model - Francesca Year Taken - December 2013 Camera - Sony A7R Lens - Zeiss 135mm f/1.8 Location - Apartment Francesca Effect used by shooting into a small lamp, left of frame and setting the white balance to really warm :). No editing at all. Ive been wanting to do a retro styled shoot for ages and today, I was lucky enough to work with Frankie. I couldn't decide what period of retro I wanted to do, so I thought Id try and nail as many as possible. This image, for me, represents an attempt at trying got nail the 60's fashion look. No makeup artist, no hair stylist - just trying to let Frankie be herself and let her come through. I rented a four poster room in a posh hotel in the middle of town, and thought that it'd be the best way to get as many authentic images as possible (I don't use studios anymore, far too limiting and staged). So, meet Frankie. She is half Italian, with a BA in Psychology. She is stunningly beautiful, but that goes without saying and she is a fantastic model. I didn't want her to pose, I just wanted her to be herself and let me move around the room and capture her from different angles. None of these images are setup, they are just her, losing herself in front of the camera, forgetting Im even there. That way, I think you get to capture the soul of the person you are with, not just their looks. Like I said, she is beautiful. But on top of that, she is a lovely, lovely girl with a great sense of humour and one of the most empathetic personalities Ive ever known. She listens, she inspires and she is great company. I can't wait to work with her again, easily one of the best models Ive worked with. |
