Spamflix, the specialised TVoD platform dedicated to out-of-the-ordinary, edgy and cult cinema, is introducing an enriched line-up for the summer. One of the latest additions is the Romanian box-office hit Two Lottery Tickets [+lire aussi :

by Paul Negoescu, a black comedy in which three friends organise a road trip to get back their lottery ticket that would allow them to claim their prize of €6 million. Another title that is totally in keeping with Spamflix’s promise to offer crazy cult films is the Brazilian sci-fi drama Alone Man by first-time director Cláudia Jouvin, which follows a man who undergoes a cloning procedure so that he can live a double life – but things inevitably go wrong.

Straight out of Cannes, Spamflix has sealed some brand-new, white-hot deals to bring out more content during the next few months. In July, the platform will bring five Brazilian films to its viewers, including the Cannes Un Certain Regard-premiered Hard Labor and Locarno’s Silver Leopard winner Good Manners [+lire aussi :

, both by directorial duo Marco Dutra and Juliana Rojas. In addition, Rojas’ musical Necropolis Symphony and her short Doppelgänger are also being included, along with Caetano Gotardo’s poetic debut, The Moving Creatures. All films are handled internationally by UDI.

by Peter Strickland. The sophomore film by the British filmmaker has been festooned with awards, with four gongs at the British Independent Film Awards, a Special Mention at Sitges, and further prizes at Locarno and Edinburgh. The cult thriller follows Toby Jones as a sound engineer who finds himself employed by a notorious low-budget Italian horror studio. The Match Factory is handling the rights.

Spamflix is also offering an initial glimpse of its autumn releases. Among the titles that viewers will be able to watch is the Bulgarian black-and-white arthouse flick Losers [+lire aussi :

by Ivaylo Hristov, which will be added in September. A hand-picked selection of movies from cult UK indie director Alex Cox’s filmography, which includes Straight to Hell Returns (1987), Highway Patrolman (1991), Death and the Compass (1996), Three Businessmen (1999) and Tombstone Rashomone (2016), will be available in October. Finally, in November, the platform will add Iranian director Shahram Mokri’s debut, Ashkan, the Charmed Ring and Other Stories, with his Venice Orizzonti winner Fish & Cat already playing on Spamflix.

Furthermore, after its partnership with the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF) (see the news), Spamflix is also expanding into academic film courses, as DAMS and CITEM (Cinema, Televisione e Produzione Multimediale) at the University of Bologna will offer free access to its students. More festival and university partnerships will be announced in the second half of the year.

Finally, Spamflix introduced gift card options earlier this year, in April, as a new way to purchase multiple film coupons at lower rates. The gift cards start at five films for €12 and go up to 25 films for €40. Spamflix is co-financed by the Lisboa 2020 programme of the ERDF European Fund.
