Hawaii, Oslo gets top Amanda Award

Erik Poppe’s audience and critics’ favourite Hawaii,Oslo [+see also:

film profile] produced by Paradox, received the Amanda Award (the Norwegian Oscar) for Best Norwegian film and Best Script at the closing night ceremony of the The Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund (19-26 August).
Poppe’s second instalment of his Oslo trilogy was the Norwegian entry for Best foreign language film at the Oscars 2005 and had already been voted Norwegian Feature film of the year by the Association of Norwegian Film Critics.
Aksel Hennie who scripted, directed and played in his debut feature film Uno was voted Best Director, a new category created for this 21rst edition of the Amandas Awards. The urban drama beat in this category another favourite: Factotum [+see also:

film profile] by Bent Hamer who left empty handed this year after having won the Best Film Amanda Award in 2004 for Kitchen Stories.
Uno, a major local hit with 290,000 admissions in Norway in 2004-2005, also received on Tuesday 23rd August the Silver Lump for Best Norwegian Film of the year by the Norwegian Association of Cinema Directors.
Sara Johnsen’s Vinterkyss (Kissed By Winter) produced by Friland Film behind the current Norwegian box office hit Tommy’s Inferno was awarded an Amanda for Best first feature film and the film’s lead actress Annika Hallin was voted Best actress.
The Amanda for Best Actor was awarded to Kristoffer Joner for his role in Pål Sletaune’s thriller Naboer (Next Door) ; the award for Best children-youngster film went to Venner For Livet (Finding Friends) by Arne Lindtner Naess, and the Best Documentary film to Evig Din (Forever Young) by Monica Csango.
