Description: An exhilarating free jazz collaboration between avant-garde guitarist Dirk Serries and José Lencastre on alto saxophone. This limited edition release features two improvisations that push the boundaries of melody and rhythm. On ‘Arcas’, Dirk’s intricate fingerpicking intertwines with the José’s wild, soaring phrases, creating an unpredictable and mesmerizing sonic landscape. The B-side features ‘Callisto' which contrasts frenetic bursts of sound with moments of haunting stillness, inviting listeners to experience the raw energy and spontaneity of the performance. This recording captures a live performance at the Oude Klooster chapel in Brecht, Belgium, on 30 April 2023, where the duo's spontaneous dialogue resonated within the stunning acoustics of the historical venue. Perfectly embodying the spirit of exploration inherent in free jazz, this is an essential addition.
