When I started my freelancing Business Analyst journey in 2020, initial 2 months I struggled a lot and got no work. Honestly speaking I was very demotivated but still kept pushing myself for that 1st work. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝟑 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝟐 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐬: ➡️ As the concept of freelancing was new to me, I ended up spending lot of time in understanding how project bidding works. ➡️ I was not reading the Project description properly and was applying to all work(biggest mistake). ➡️ I was not tailoring my cover letter and resume for the projects before applying. I started my journey in August 2020 and got my 1st work in October 2020. Client send me a test to complete. I passed that test and got the offer to work. Attaching the snapshot of offer email that I received from my 1st client. So, my message would be to all Business Analysts that don't lose hope. Keep trying, analyze the mistakes that you are doing, experiment if something is not working, learn, and keep pushing. BA Helpline #businessanalysis #businessanalyst #businessanalysts #ba

I request organizations to give chance to freshers as they deserve a chance to start career in Business Analyst role. I understand not every client/project will consider freshers considering the project complexity and domain knowledge expectations. However, we must not forget that we all started from somewhere and we were fresher at the beginning stage of our career. Few probable solution can be, ➡️ They can be offered more paid internships/contract/part-time opportunities. They can work under experienced Business Analysts and learn a lot if given such opportunities. ➡️ We can assign freshers to projects with lower risk or complexity, where they can gain practical experience without impacting critical project deliverables. ➡️ They can be assigned non-technical or support tasks, such as compiling reports, maintaining project documentation, or assisting with UAT, allowing senior BAs to handle more complex activities. ➡️ Comapnies can establish or expand internship programs specifically focused on business analysis. Internships serve as a trial period where organizations can assess and develop potential hires. Interns who perform well can be fast-tracked into junior BA roles, reducing onboarding time and cost since they’re already familiar with company processes. Please give a chance to freshers wherever possible 🙏🙏 BA Helpline #businessanalysis #businessanalyst #businessanalysts #ba #freshers

My advice to someone who is financially struggling or jobless from few months. I understand that moving to Business Analyst role is your aspiration but then don't go for costly courses/certifications by 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐧/𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 from someone. I have told this multiple times, 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠/𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬/𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐛 through which you can repay your debt. So, don't put unnecessary financial pressure on you. I don't deny what a good training/mentorship can be valuable but at the same time assessing your current state is also very crucial. ➡️ You always have an option to self study and crack a BA Interview ➡️ There are tons of 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 which others and I have shared on LinkedIn. You can use them to get a BA role. I have so many examples infront of me where people have moved to BA role through my LinkedIn posts. Be smart and invest wisely. All the very best 🙏 BA Helpline #businessanalysis #businessanalyst #businessanalysts #ba

I definitely have few issues with such JD for a Business Analsyt role. Seriously, ➡️ Are you expecting programming language/R/Python knowledge from a BA? ➡️ Where is the link to apply for the job? ➡️ Where is the email id of the recruiter? Please 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐏 wasting time of the candidates to increase engagement and followers. There are other ways to achieve this. BA Helpline #businessanalysis #businessanalyst #businessanalysts #ba

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 highlighting the importance of a BA in project. Read this and enjoy. 𝐁𝐀: Hey, I just wanted to share a new idea I had to streamline our requirements gathering—think of it as a turbocharger for our project engine! 𝐏𝐌: A turbocharger, huh? And here I was, thinking we were building software, not a race car! 𝐁𝐀: Exactly! But just like in racing, speed and efficiency are key. With a refined requirements process, we can speed up development without any detours. 𝐏𝐌: Speed is great, but what about the bumps on the road? Last time we hit a few potholes that threw us off track. 𝐁𝐀: That’s where I come in. Think of me as the suspension that smooths out those bumps. I’ll make sure the requirements are so clear that even if we hit a pothole, it won’t burst our tires. 𝐏𝐌: (laughs) Alright, I'm listening. But make sure your "suspension" can handle the weight of our stakeholders' expectations. 𝐁𝐀: Oh, it will. I’ll have our stakeholders aligned like synchronized swimmers. You won’t see any splashing, just smooth sailing. 𝐏𝐌: Synchronized swimming, racing... what’s next? Are we going to space too? 𝐁𝐀: Well, if the project scope includes it, I’ll make sure we have a helmet! 𝐏𝐌: Just make sure we don’t need a spaceship to meet the budget. But really, I'm glad you’re on board. You’re the navigator making sure we’re on the right path and interpreting the map correctly. 𝐁𝐀: And don’t forget, ensuring we don’t drive off a cliff when someone gets excited about the scenic route. 𝐏𝐌: True, keeping us on the road is crucial. Alright, turbocharge away, but let’s keep the scenic views for vacations. 𝐁𝐀: Agreed, no cliffs or scenic detours. Just a smooth ride to our destination—project success! 𝐏𝐌: With your skills, I’m convinced we’ll not only reach our destination but also enjoy the journey. Let’s turbocharge this project to success! This conversation shows how the BA helps keep the project on track, balancing speed, efficiency, and alignment with stakeholder expectations. Sharing my real experience of a Business Analyst interview which I gave in 2020. Duration of the interview: 1 hour Total members in the interview panel: 2 The interview started with a general introduction and then interviewer asked me about my projects that I did. I explained in detail about my project and what was my roles and responsibilities in the project. They also asked lot of questions about the system, technology, architecture, data flows.. They gave me a question and asked me to write a SQL query to fetch the desired data(they were testing my JOINS knowledge). I answered correctly and they confirmed the same. At the end, interviewer told me they were very happy and HR will reach out with the next steps. After 2 weeks: Received an email from HR that you are not selected as we are looking for someone who has Oil and Petroleum Industry experience. Seriously, is this the way you are allowed to waste a Candidate’s time and effort? Were you not aware about this before scheduling interview? Did I mention anywhere in my resume that I have this domain experience? Did you not check my resume before shortlisting? So many questions to raise but at the end you can’t do anything. So, please don’t lose hope and don’t get demotivated. Keep Trying, Keep Pushing BA Helpline #businessanalysis #businessanalyst #businessanalysts #ba #interview
