Magic gourd was an artifact employed in magic rituals such as the enjoining spell[1] and the ritual to summon the Guide in a Vision Quest.[2] The gourd the Scooby Gang used in the enjoining spell had several runic markings inscribed on it,[1] while the one Giles used in the Vision Quest was smaller and lacked the markings.[2]
