Funkcija
[uredi | uredi izvor]Ovaj gen kodira enzim acilpeptid-hidrolaza, koji katalizira hidrolizu terminalne acetilirane aminokiseline, prvenstveno iz malih acetiliranih peptida. Acetil aminokiselina formirana ovom hidrolazom dalje se obrađuje u acetat, a slobodnu aminokiselinu aminoacilaza. Ovaj gen se nalazi unutar iste regije hromosoma 3 (3p21) kao i gen aminoacilaze, a delecije na ovom lokusu su također povezane sa smanjenjem aktivnosti aminoacilaze. Acilpeptid-hidrolaza je homotetramerni protein od 300 kDa sa svakom podjedinicom koja se sastoji od po 732 aminokiselinska ostatka. Može imati važnu ulogu u uništavanju oksidativnnih oštećenih proteina u živim ćelijama. Delecije ovog genskog lokusa nalaze se u različitim tipovima karcinoma, uključujući karcinom pluća nemalih ćelija i karcinom bubrežnih ćelija.[6]
