The Photac Beast is a giant wolf-like creature in the Ninjago theme.
History[]
Developed by Ana, a young prodigy from the realm of Imperium, the Photac was a machine capable of generating an animal-based hard-light projection. This was intended to provide realistic artificial pets to individuals who were unable to keep real animals as pets, whether due to allergies or for various other reasons. Unfortunately, Dr. LaRow of the Advanced Systems Lab and her superior, Empress Beatrix, saw a way that this humane invention might be turned to darker purposes. LaRow envisioned an army of Photacs, creatures impervious to harm or pain, allowing Imperium to conquer any obstacles or enemies.
Upon learning of this intention for her creation, Ana sabotaged the original Photac prototype and refused to collaborate with LaRow. After she fled Imperium following the Merge, LaRow spent several years unsuccessfully attempting to repair the device. Eventually, Beatrix's right hand Lord Ras provided her with assistance in the form of Dorama, an expert in the extraction of exotic energies. Dorama was able to get the prototype functioning again, but even he lacked the ability to replicate the device, never mind in the mass-produced quantities Empress Beatrix desired.
