This is my piece for the #InMyHomeJam Artstation Jam. I've been meaning to do something like this for ages, taking my apartment and finally making the changes I would if I owned it and could knock down walls without fear of demolishing the entire building. The Jam finally got me inspired to just do it! Maybe in the future I'll do another version with all the other changes I would do... I can never make my mind up about interior decoration!

The Wind Rises is Miyazaki Hayao's plaintive parable about the conquest of flight and the corruption of dreams. But it's also a detailed historical testament to the Japan of the 1920s and 30s – Miyazaki's father era, and a time marked by poverty, natural disasters and the country's traumatic (if not tragic) transition to modernity. Here are some illustrations of that changing landscape, from what this very greatest of animators says will be his final film.
