The 67th Annual Grammy Award nominations were announced today and artists, songwriters and producers who have had a big year on YouTube are dominating in nominations across genres and categories. See below for a look at some of the stellar nominees and the global impact they had on YouTube this year.
2024 was Benson Boone’s biggest year yet, earning his first GRAMMY nomination for Best New Artist. Accumulating over 1.1 billion views on YouTube to date, his stripped-back ballad "Beautiful Things" has earned over 755 million views alone and reached #1 on US Top Songs, #3 on Global Top Songs, and #15 on US Top Songs on Shorts. We were proud to have Boone perform at YouTube’s Brandcast this spring and support his incredible breakout year in music!
Beyoncé had another banner year in 2024 earning 1.85 billion views across her music so far. Her eagerly awaited album Cowboy Carter earned 11 GRAMMY nominations today, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Country Album. The album dominated the YouTube charts globally, with five cuts from the country opus landing on the US Top Songs chart, including "TEXAS HOLD 'EM" which peaked at #1 and "JOLENE" at #10.
This year, Billie Eilish reached 50M subscribers on her Official Artist Channel – joining a group of less than 10 artists to reach the milestone. Earning a whopping 7 GRAMMY nominations today for her latest album Hit Me Hard Hit Me Soft, Eilish will compete for the gold in marquee categories like Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. So far this year, Eilish has accumulated over 3 billion views on YouTube and made her way to #9 on US Top Artists with hits like "LUNCH,” "BIRDS OF A FEATHER," and "CHIHIRO.” Together we launched the #LUNCHbyBillieEilish on Shorts in support of the lead single and later in the year a Google Maps partnership to promote sustainable routing, transportation, and vegan food options around her tour.
Today, Chappel Roan was nominated for 6 GRAMMY Awards including Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Record of the Year, for the hit single "Good Luck, Babe!". The track earned 175 million global views in 2024 so far and peaked at #20 on the US Top Songs chart. Roan has accumulated over 400 million views on YouTube in 2024, marking her biggest year on the platform to date. Roan made her Coachella debut this year, appearing on our exclusive livestream and making a special onsite appearance with Google Pixel.
Charli xcx’s BRAT took the world by storm this year, landing her 7 GRAMMY noms, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year. Earning over 330 million views on YouTube to date, her now GRAMMY nominated tracks, "Apple” and “360” also became viral sensations, with the latter music video starting with Charli getting directions via Google’s Circle to Search on a Pixel.
Nominated for 2 GRAMMY Awards including Best Country Song for "I Am Not Okay," the crossover country artist Jelly Roll had a wildly successful year across the board! He’s earned over 775 million total views to date and reaching #8 on the US Top Artists chart. His “Lonely Road” duet with MGK peaked at #9 on the US Top Songs chart alongside others like “Wild Ones” and "All My Life.” This year Jelly Roll joined our Global Music Ambassador program, making an incredibly impactful visit to Ottawa’s Royal Ottawa Mental Health Center to visit with patients on his Bluesfest tour stop.
Today, Just Tranter was nominated for Song of the Year for their role as songwriter on Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe.” Tranter has worked with many of today’s biggest artists from Roan, to Selena Gomez and Saweetie. Tranter is a member of our Global Music Ambassador program and a dedicated participant in our AI Music Incubator. Earlier this year at Google IO, DeepMind unveiled a new track Tranter created with co-writers Shawn Wasabi and Blush, utilizing tools from our ‘Music AI Sandbox’.
Topping our charts all year long, Lamar is nominated for 7 GRAMMY’s today, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year for hit single "Not Like Us,” which spent a collective 20 weeks at #1 on the US Top Songs. Aided by the released video, the track amassed more than 580 million views this year, contributing significantly to the 2.25 billion he’s accumulated so far this year on the platform.
Genre-blurring Post Malone, had a massive year with 7 GRAMMY nominations in support of his latest album F-1 Trillion, which earned a nomination for Best Country Album, plus nods for Record of the Year and Song of the Year for his feature on Taylor Swift's "Fortnight.” Malone peaked at #2 on YouTube’s US Top Artists and accumulated 2.1 billion views on YouTube so far this year. His song "I Had Some Help" with Morgan Wallen peaked at #2 on US Top Songs and #15 on Global Top Songs, with further success on tracks like "Pour Me a Drink" featuring Blake Shelton. Malone celebrated his album release with an epic concert in New York’s Times Square, livestreamed only on YouTube, and later performed the full album live from Nashville, which can be watched on his channel here.
Sabrina Carpenter took over 2024 with her latest album Short n' Sweet. Today, Carpenter earned 6 GRAMMY nominations including Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. She has accumulated 1.9 billion views on YouTube so far this year and made it to #2 on US Top Artists. Carpenter held onto three top #5 spots on YouTube’s US and Global charts with singles “Espresso,” “Please Please Please,” and “Taste.” In April, her debut performance of "Espresso" at Coachella - as seen on YouTube’s livestream of the festival - created huge buzz and was complemented by the #EspressoBySabrina challenge on Shorts which launched shortly after.
Virginia's Shaboozey is nominated for 5 GRAMMY Awards, including Best New Artist and Song of the Year. He had a breakout year with his record breaking single "A Bar Song (Tipsy), which earned over 295 million streams on YouTube, reached #2 on US Top Songs, #12 on US Top Songs on Shorts, and #32 on Global Top Songs.
Taylor Swift added 6 GRAMMY nominations to her repertoire today, including Album of the Year for “THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT,” Record of the Year, and Song of the Year for her smash hit “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone. Earlier this year, we partnered with Swift to take her fans on a worldwide scavenger hunt leading into the album release, the “Fortnight” music video premiere, and #ForAFortnightChallenge on Shorts. The journey had fans everywhere uncovering easter eggs, discovering a special website, tuning in for the video premiere, and creating their own fortnight recap Shorts to get involved. Swift has earned an incredible 5 billion views and counting across her music on YouTube this year!
Today, breakout artist Teddy Swims earned his first GRAMMY nomination for Best New Artist. His smash hit "Lose Control" peaked at #1 on the US Top Songs chart and has earned 628 million views on YouTube. Alongside albums I've Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1) and (Part 1.5), Swims has earned over 1 billion views globally on the platform this year. Teddy joined our Global Music Ambassador program, helping bring more attention to his work like visiting students in Christchurch, NZ while on his world tour.
