Last week, we had an insightful finance workshop, led by Petko T. Todorov, co-founder at Студио Лични Финанси - 🎯Амунди - инвестиции🎯Кредитен консултант🎯. Petko covered key topics such as investment basics, risk and return, asset allocation, and developing an investment strategy. 📈 It was a hands-on, interactive session where our team had the opportunity to ask questions. What made the session especially impactful were the practical examples he shared, helping to break down complex concepts for better understanding. Dear Petko, we’re grateful for your valuable experience and excited to apply the insights to our personal financial planning! Thank you! 💓

Aaaand just like that, it is time for our next episode of #OpenTaggerOnFocus! Today, meet Nikolay Tranchev, who recently became Technical Project Manager. 🎉 Find out more about him in the interview below: ❓What inspired you to pursue a career in this field, and how has that passion evolved over time? 👉My passion for computers began in my teenage years, inspiring me to pursue a path in technology. I started by studying at the Professional High School for Computer Technologies and Systems in Pravets and later continued my education at the Technical University of Sofia. During this time, my fiancée- who was just a friend and an university colleague back then- introduced me to the world of QA, where she was already working. Her enthusiasm and encouragement motivated me to give it a try, and I landed my first internship. ❓What’s one tool or software that you can’t live without in your daily work routine? 👉I’d like to put aside the various testing tools I use daily and give some appreciation to Jira. While many find it confusing or boring, for me, it’s essential for streamlining tasks, tracking issues, and staying organized. Our agile team depends on it to manage workflows and communicate effectively. Although it’s sometimes criticized, I find it indispensable, still I wouldn’t mind if they fixed a few UI bugs here and there - so, Atlassian, if you happen to be reading this, please take note! ❓Have you ever experienced a massive failure, and what did you learn from it? 👉Oh, absolutely! Early in my QA days, I made a pretty memorable blunder. I was tasked with fixing a test script issue, and in my eagerness, I thought I’d cracked the code - literally. I removed a chunk of code that I assumed was unnecessary, confidently submitted a merge request with the comment, "removing this code because it is not needed." Feeling pretty good about it, I waited. Well, it didn’t take long for the reviewers to shut it down- passive-aggressively, of course- with a comment that read: "closing this MR because this code is needed!!!!" Ouch. Not only did I fail to fix the issue, but I was also on the verge of breaking a whole bunch of other tests. The lesson? Never base your work on assumptions and always ask for help when needed. It was a humbling experience that taught me the value of collaboration and diligence in QA. ❓What advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field? 👉My advice is to stay curious and keep learning. QA and software engineering are always evolving, so it's important to embrace new tools, methods, and processes. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, as understanding the bigger picture will make you better at your job. Most importantly, learn from your more experienced colleagues - their insights can be invaluable to your growth. - - - Stay tuned for more inspiring stories from our talented team, and don’t forget to follow us! 💡 #opentagger #projectmanager #opentaggeronfocus

It’s scientifically proven: when you’ve got draft beer and German cuisine in the office, the workday gets instantly better!🍻 Last week, we brought the Oktoberfest vibe back to the office for second year in a row. Cold drinks, great food, and even better company - what more could you ask for? Prost! 🥨 🌻 #opentaggers #oktoberfest #officelife

Kicking off September with a brand-new episode of #OpenTaggerOnFocus! 🚀 Today, meet Boyan Zhelev🔝 He just joined our team as a Senior Full-Stack Developer 🎉 Find out more about him in the interview below: ❓ Can you share a bit about your career journey and how you ended up in your current role with us? 👉 Before I became a developer I would spend at least 2 to 3 hours self-learning JavaScript and programming and after a bit over a year I quit my job and went to Telerik. Six months later I got my first ever developer position, it wasn't anything too fancy but it gave me confidence to push on. A couple of years later and a lot of days behind the screen I felt I need a new challenge and that's how I landed in OpenTag's Javascript Infrastructure Team. ❓We all have our unique strategies for staying focused at work. What's your recipe for staying sharp on those crazy, hectic workdays? 👉 Music. Music is by far the best concentration hack, especially if you find that one playlist you can listen on repeat for hours. Additionally, taking breaks here and there is very valuable. I’d rather spend two hours on a problem, take a 30-minute break, have my "Eureka" moment, and then finish the task, than spend four hours on a task and feel burned out afterward. ❓Any awesome books, podcasts, or resources you've come across that have really supercharged your ability to stay on track and level up your work game? 👉 'Clean Code' by Robert Martin is a must-read for aspiring developers, but to be honest, books can quickly become outdated in our field. I find channels like Fireship, Kevin Powell, freeCodeCamp, and NeetCode more informative for current trends. RefactoringGuru is also great for learning Design Patterns. ❓Balancing the demands of work and life can be a real puzzle. How do you navigate this challenge to ensure you're nailing it at work while still having time to enjoy life outside the office? 👉 Working from home is key, as it cuts down on travel time. However, for me, it’s all about time-boxing focus. If there’s nothing urgent after 18:00, I shift from 'Okay, let’s get this thing to work' to 'Let’s hit the gym' or something enjoyable. Balancing work and personal life is crucial - I’ve learned the hard way that neglecting one isn’t worth it. ❓Is there a nifty little habit you've picked up that's been a game-changer in terms of minimizing distractions and cranking up your productivity? 👉 Get yourself a good pair of noise-cancelling headphones. If you work from home, take the time to create a dedicated office space. Take frequent short breaks (look up the Pomodoro technique). Make it a point to spend at least an hour or two every day learning something new, even if it’s not directly related to your work. Stay inspired! - - - Stay tuned for more inspiring stories from our talented team, and don’t forget to follow us! 💡 #OpenTaggerOnFocus #SeniorFullStackDeveloper #opentagger
