How often do your online meetings fall flat? Especially after presenting for a while, people often shift into 'receiving' mode rather than engaging in active interaction. This is where visual facilitation using collaboration tools like Miro comes in handy. When you expect your audience to have concerns or questions, but they don't seem to express them openly, templates with post-its can be your go-to solution. A good example is the Mad-Sad-Glad template. You don't have to start from scratch; it's an existing template on #Miro. And with the Drawify plug-in, you can make it much more human and real. For this example, we used the images of Jimi Holstebro, an amazing visual storyteller from Denmark. His black and white images express so much emotion and really tell the story in a few lines. Creating 'awesome-looking' storyboards as a team to tell a user story or pitch a new idea? It's possible... and EASY! Harness the magic of hashtag #Miro's storyboard template, paired with the Drawify plug-in. Here are my tips: 👉 Explore the Drawify artists and select the one whose style you like best or whose images are most relevant to your topic. This allows you to search by name and gives your storyboard a consistent look and feel. For this template, we used mostly Ben Crothers' images because he has tons of storyboard images in his portfolio. 👉 Have each team member create a storyboard individually first. Then, share, inspire, and collaborate to craft the optimal storyboard together. 💪 Your online meeting will be so much more engaging and fun! What is Dual Coding? The process of providing students with verbal and visual materials at the same time is called Dual Coding. Cognitive Psychologists have identified the six most effective learning strategies for improving long-term memory and dual coding is one of those strategies. Learning materials can be visually represented in many ways such as graphic organisers, flow charts, diagrams, cartoon strips, editable timeline and infographics.  Having the same information in both formats - visual images and words - offers two ways to remember the information. This domain of research has received a lot of interest as a learning technique. With the rise of evidence-informed education, teachers are beginning to drop outdated ideas like learning styles. Institutions like the education endowment foundation are providing accessible resources that have been shown to improve student learning.
