We are delighted and honoured to share that Nexus has won the prestigious Large Employer of the Year Award in the Tasmanian Training Awards. This is a proud moment for all our staff, whose dedication to continuous learning and passion for supporting our clients made this recognition possible. Presented by Skills Tasmania, the Large Employer of the Year Award recognises large businesses and enterprises that have achieved excellence in providing nationally recognised training to their employees. We take pride in our innovative and inclusive learning and development program, and we are delighted that our decades of continuous training commitment has been recognised. “The support we provide to our clients is not one-size-fits-all, so our training should not be one size-fits-all”, Nexus CEO Mark Jessop said when accepting the award. “It was great that a not-for-profit could compete with the commercial organisations in this category and that the award is a testament to Nexus’ investment in quality training for all staff.” We also want to congratulate our staff member Ben O’Brien, who was a finalist for the Vocational Student of the Year Award in what was a highly competitive category. Thank you to Jacqui Maclaine, the team at Skills Tasmania, and Department of State Growth (Tas) for organising such a wonderful event. Congratulations to all the incredible nominees and winners of the awards. Read more on our website: https://lnkd.in/dMav9RiV [Image description: The image has two parts. We are thrilled to share that our social enterprise, S.E.E.D was recognised as a semi-finalist for the Empowerment through Diversity and Inclusion Award in the Tasmanian Community Achievement Awards. Thank you to Hon Jacquie Petrusma MP for presenting the award certificate to the S.E.E.D team during the Awards Gala Presentation dinner at Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hobart last week. This award recognises organisations and individuals who have significantly promoted and dedicated outstanding efforts in advocating for diversity and inclusion within their community. S.E.E.D is a for purpose organisation dedicated to empowering people with disability in Southern Tasmania by providing them with employment opportunities at full award wages. S.E.E.D General Manager Jackie Gregory said this recognition was a proud moment for the team, which is "an amazing opportunity" for people with disability in our community. “If you can't see it, you can't be it. And if you don't see people with disability working, as a person with a disability, you may not think you could,” Jackie said. “Seeing these wonderful employees engage with the community on a daily basis at various sites during work, and then socialise after hours with other members of the community shows what meaningful employment can do.” Check out the new look of the S.E.E.D website: https://lnkd.in/gbjSym5u [Description of image one: Four individuals are smiling in front of a banner displaying numerous Community Achievement Awards sponsor logos. Over the past few weeks, our team had a great time attending Speak Out's ‘Gearing Up For Choice and Control’ Disability Expos in Devonport, Launceston, and Hobart. We loved connecting with hundreds of attendees from across the state, and discussing the types of support Nexus provides, including Supported Living, Community Access, Complex Support, Customised Employment, and our Children and Youth and Respite program. It was also a great opportunity to catch up with our colleagues from across the state and share ideas on how we can best serve people with disability. Another highlight from the Hobart Disability Expo was the fantastic performance by Second Echo Ensemble, which was inclusive, and many attendees took part in it. Everyone who visited our stand also enjoyed fresh apples straight from our orchard! Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat. We loved meeting you all.
