  • We had another inspiring day at the Regional Mobilisation Day in Rochester, bringing the cohort together to reflect on their progress, build engagement skills, and plan for meaningful action. A big thank you to our incredible guests - Amanda Logie (Rochester Community House), Karen Corr (Jumpleads nfp) and Ash Lythgo FF'20 - who shared invaluable insights on community engagement, good governance, and more! The group continue to build on their ideas and drive positive change across our region! It was also very exciting to see the freshly completed Silo Art in Rochester! 🎨 As we approach the end of the year, don't forget to secure your tickets for the upcoming Fairley Leadership Program Graduation. • This week, we embarked on a shared journey of discovery and experimentation at the 2024 Regional Mobilisation Summit. Through thoughtful dialogue, curiosity and collaboration, we explored governance obstacles and shared successes for achieving sustainable community organisations. 🌱 Scott Ko guided us through sessions that invited open reflection on our communities’ challenges - creating a safe space for ideas to emerge, take shape, and evolve. 🤝 Samuel Wilson inspired us to listen deeply, find common ground, and make space for diverse voices, reminding us that true progress comes when we come together. 🌟 Community Panel - A highlight of the day was hearing from Jenny Foott, Daryl Bennett, and Doc McDonald, whose diverse perspectives illuminated how community governance can take shape. Their stories reminded us that our challenges, though varied, are opportunities for collective growth and action. As the day came to a close, participants prepared to mobilise their ideas, committed to making lasting change. Thank you to everyone who joined us in this important experiment. Our work is just beginning... #gmclsummit2024

FANTASTIC DAY yesterday at the Goulburn Murray Community Leadership Regional Mobilisation Summit in Shepparton! This was a big experiment: Against the backdrop of challenges with community governance, social connection (or disconnection), and regional resilience, what if we brought together a diverse group of executives, representatives, and leaders across the region and simply gave them the time and space to tackle problems live in the room? To give everyone the space to play, to experiment? To empower people to ask for pragmatic, focused help? And then to encourage everyone to make those connections and introductions then and there? Could we facilitate the 'action' part of leadership in action? I think the answer is: Yes, we can. We empowered people to leave their roles and titles at the door, so they could simply show up as the diverse individuals they are. Samuel Wilson provided everyone with an incredible scaffold around the tensions and paradoxes that we all experience when striving for the 'common good', and the need (and value) of embracing 'clumsy solutions' as a path for progress. Once everyone had a chance to share their experiments and asks, Jessica (Jesse) Mitchell guided people through the physical mobilisation of getting up and making those connections then and there. It was a thing to behold! Most importantly, I feel like we've planted the seeds for robust community action; something by the community, for the community, and owned by the community. As a personal share, my most rewarding moment was when people came up and said: "This was different. This really was different. We get to do something!" We'll share a report on the outcomes of the day, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Massive shout out to Nathan Bibby for spearheading this initiative and for the courage to allow us all to experiment. Equally huge shout out to Chloe Armstrong and Jessica (Jesse) Mitchell for the behind-the-scenes support that made this successful. A big thank you to our panellists Jenny Foott, Doc McDonald, and Daryl Bennett for sharing your diverse experiences and perspectives on community governance. Also, lovely seeing a couple of familiar faces in the crowd Werner Vogels, PhD, Amy Robinson and Vicki Scott! Thank you for being a part of the experience!
