Perth-based software firm Powerledger has partnered with Thai energy company BCPG to launch a blockchain-enabled trading platform. The innovative platform is creating a market-based solution to power Thailand’s energy transition. Vinod Tiwari, Global Head of Business Development & Partnerships shares how Powerledger's software allows shopping centres, schools and hospitals to track, trace and trade every kilowatt of clean energy that is produced off-grid based on their needs. Powerledger’s partnership with BCPG Public Company Limited was featured at the 1st Australia Thailand Energy Policy Dialogue (ATEPD) in Thailand on 5 November, where Vinod showcased how cooperation between the Thai Metropolitan Electricity Authority, BCPG, Sansiri and Powerledger is set to deliver full scale energy trading trials using blockchain technology. The project will be one of the world’s largest real time, peer to peer electricity trading pilot projects.
