Essential dimension of isogenies
Abstract: We give a lower bound for the essential dimension of isogenies of complex abelian varieties. The bound is sharp in many cases. In particular, the multiplication-by-$m$ map is incompressible for every $m\geq 2$, confirming a conjecture of Brosnan.

Automorphisms and twisted forms of rings of invariants

Automorphisms and twisted forms of quotient singularities; notes on a paper of Bresciani--Vistoli
Abstract: A recent paper of Bresciani and Vistoli studies fields of moduli using residual gerbes. One of their applications is to twisted forms of quotient singularities. We discuss a direct approach to automorphisms and twisted forms, which also works in many wildly ramified cases.

Families of stable 3-folds in positive characteristic
Abstract: We show that flat families of stable 3-folds do not lead to proper moduli spaces in any characteristic $p>0$. As a byproduct, we obtain log canonical 4-fold pairs, whose log canonical centers are not weakly normal.

Bounded meromorphic functions on the complex 2-disc
Abstract: We describe bounded, holomorphic functions on the complex 2-disc, that admit meromorphic extension to a larger 2-disc. This solves a conjecture of Bickel, Knese, Pascoe and Sola. The key technical ingredient is an old theorem of Zariski about integrally closed ideals in 2-dimensional regular rings. v2: Remark 15 is added.

Relative MMP without Q-factoriality
Abstract: We consider the minimal model program for varieties that are not Q-factorial. We show that, in many cases, its steps are simpler than expected. In particular, all flips are 1-complemented. Abstract: We study gaps in the spectra of the adjacency matrices of large finite cubic graphs. It is known that the gap intervals $(2 \sqrt{2},3)$ and $[-3,-2)$ achieved in cubic Ramanujan graphs and line graphs are maximal. On the local étale fundamental group of KLT threefold singularities
Abstract: Let $S$ be KLT threefold singularity over an algebraically closed field of positive characteristic $p>5$. We prove that its local étale fundamental group is tame and finite. Further, we show that every finite unipotent torsor over a big open of $S$ is realized as the restriction of a finite unipotent torsor over $S$.

Checking real analyticity on surfaces
Abstract: We prove that a real-valued function (that is not assumed to be continuous) on a real analytic manifold is analytic whenever all its restrictions to analytic submanifolds homeomorphic to the 2-sphere are analytic. This is a real analog for the classical theorem of Hartogs that a function on a complex manifold is complex analytic iff it is complex analytic when restricted to any complex curve.

Abstract: We prove that $n$-dimensional smooth hypersurfaces of degree $n+1$ are superrigid. Abstract: We prove that the cohomology sheaves of the relative dualizing complex of a flat family of varieties with semi-log-canonical or Du Bois singularities are flat and commute with base change.
