Abstract:
Given a multiplicative function $f$, we let $S(x,f)=\sum_{n\leq x}f(n)$ be the associated partial sum. In this note, we show that lower bounds on partial sums of divisor-bounded functions result in lower bounds on the partial sums associated to their products. More precisely, we let $f_j$, $j=1,2$ be such that $|f_j(n)|\leq τ(n)^κ$ for some $κ\in\mathbb{N}$, and assume their partial sums satisfy…

In this note, we show that lower bounds on partial sums of divisor-bounded functions result in lower bounds on the partial sums associated to their products. More precisely, we let $f_j$, $j=1,2$ be such that $|f_j(n)|\leq τ(n)^κ$ for some $κ\in\mathbb{N}$, and assume their partial sums satisfy $\left|S(x_j,f_j)\right|\geq ηx_j (\log x_j)^{2^κ-1}$ for some $x_1, x_2\gg 1$ and $η>\max_j\{(\log x_j)^{-1/100}\}$. We then show that there exists $x\geq \min\{x_1, x_2\}^{ξ^2}$ such that $\left|S(x,f_1f_2)\right|\geq ξx (\log x)^{2^{2κ}-1}$, where $ξ=Cη^{1+2^{κ+3}}$ for some absolute constant $C>0$.

An Alternative Approach to Computing $β(2k+1)$
Authors:

Abstract:
This paper presents a new approach to evaluating the special values of the Dirichlet beta function, $β(2k+1)$, where $k$ is any nonnegative integer. Our approach relies on some properties of the Euler numbers and polynomials, and uses basic calculus and telescoping series. By a similar procedure, we also yield an integral representation of $β(2k)$. The idea of our proof adapts from a previous stud…

By a similar procedure, we also yield an integral representation of $β(2k)$. The idea of our proof adapts from a previous study by Ciaurri et al., where the authors introduced a new proof of Euler's formula for $ζ(2k)$.

Abstract:
Let $N$ be a fixed positive integer, and let $f\in S_k(N)$ be a primitive cusp form given by the Fourier expansion $f(z)=\sum_{n=1}^{\infty} λ_f(n)n^{\frac{k-1}{2}}e(nz)$. We consider the partial sum $S(x,f)=\sum_{n\leq x}λ_f(x)$. It is conjectured that $S(x,f)=o(x\log x)$ in the range $x\geq k^ε$. We consider the partial sum $S(x,f)=\sum_{n\leq x}λ_f(x)$. It is conjectured that $S(x,f)=o(x\log x)$ in the range $x\geq k^ε$. Lamzouri proved in arXiv:1703.10582 [math.NT] that this is true under the assumption of the Generalized Riemann Hypothesis (GRH) for $L(s,f)$. In this paper, we prove that this conjecture holds under a weaker assumption than GRH. In particular, we prove that given $ε>(\log k)^{-\frac{1}{8}}$ and $1\leq T\leq (\log k)^{\frac{1}{200}}$, we have $S(x,f)\ll \frac{x\log x}{T}$ in the range $x\geq k^ε$ provided that $L(s,f)$ has no more than $ε^2\log k/5000$ zeros in the region $\left\{s\,:\, \Re(s)\geq \frac34, \, |\Im(s)-φ| \leq \frac14\right\}$ for every real number $φ$ with $|φ|\leq T$.

The Optical Navigation Camera (ONC-T, ONC-W1, ONC-W2) onboard Hayabusa2 are also being used for scientific observations of the mission target, C-complex asteroid 162173 Ryugu. Science observations and analyses require rigorous instrument calibration. In order to meet this requirement, we have conducted extensive inflight observations during the 3.5 years of cruise after the launch of Hayabusa2 on 3 December 2014. In addition to the first inflight calibrations by Suzuki et al. (2018), we conducted an additional series of calibrations, including read-out smear, electronic-interference noise, bias, dark current, hot pixels, sensitivity, linearity, flat-field, and stray light measurements for the ONC. Moreover, the calibrations, especially flat-fields and sensitivities, of ONC-W1 and -W2 are updated for the analysis of the low-altitude (i.e., high-resolution) observations, such as the gravity measurement, touchdowns, and the descents for MASCOT and MINERVA-II payload releases. The radiometric calibration for ONC-T is also updated in this study based on star and Moon observations. Our updated inflight sensitivity measurements suggest the accuracy of the absolute radiometric calibration contains less than 1.8% error for the ul-, b-, v-, Na-, w-, and x-bands based on star calibration observations and ~5% for the p-band based on lunar calibration observations. The radiance spectra of the Moon, Jupiter, and Saturn from the ONC-T show good agreement with the spacecraft-based observations of the Moon from SP/SELENE and WAC/LROC and with ground-based telescopic observations for Jupiter and Saturn.

Abstract:
In this paper, we study the non-vanishing of the central values of the Rankin-Selberg $L$-function of two adèlic Hilbert primitive forms ${\bf f}$ and ${\bf g}$, both of which have varying weight parameter $k$. Abstract:
We prove an equidistribution of signs for the Fourier coefficients of Hilbert modular forms of half-integral weight. Our study focuses on certain subfamilies of coefficients that are accessible via the Shimura correspondence. This is a generalization of the result of Inam and Wiese to the setting of totally real number fields

The purpose of this semi-expository article is to give another proof of a classical theorem of Shimura on the critical values of the standard L-function attached to a Hilbert modular form. Our proof is along the lines of previous work of Harder and Hida (independently). What is different is an organizational principle based on the period relations proved by Raghuram and Shahidi for periods attached to regular algebraic cuspidal automorphic representations. The point of view taken in this article is that one need only prove an algebraicity theorem for the most interesting L-value, namely, the central critical value of the L-function of a sufficiently general type of a cuspidal automorphic representation. The period relations mentioned above then gives us a result for all critical values. To transcribe such a result into a more classical context we also discuss the arithmetic properties of the dictionary between holomorphic Hilbert modular forms and automorphic representations of GL(2) over a totally real number field F.
