We analyse electron acceleration by a large-scale electric field $E$ in a collisional hydrogen plasma under the solar flare coronal conditions based on approaches proposed by Dreicer and Spitzer for the dynamic friction force of electrons. The Dreicer electric field $E_{Dr}$ is determined as a critical electric field at which the entire electron population runs away. Two regimes of strong ($E \lesssim E_{Dr}$) and weak ($E \ll E_{Dr}$) electric field are discussed. It is shown that the commonly used formal definition of the Dreicer field leads to an overestimation of its value by about five times. The critical velocity at which the electrons of the ``tail'' of the Maxwell distribution become runaway under the action of the sub-Dreiser electric fields turns out to be underestimated by $\sqrt{3}$ times in some works because the Coulomb collisions between runaway and thermal electrons are not taken into account. The electron acceleration by sub-Dreicer electric fields generated in the solar corona faces difficulties.

We present a description of the new complex installation for the study of extensive air showers which was created at the Tien Shan mountain cosmic ray station, as well as the results of the test measurements made there in 2014-2016. At present, the system for registration of electromagnetic shower component consists of $\sim$100 detector points built on the basis of plastic scintillator plates with the sensitive area of 0.25m$^2$ and 1m$^2$, spread equidistantly over $\sim$10$^4$m$^2$ space. The dynamic range of scintillation amplitude measurements is currently about $(3-7)\cdot 10^4$, and there is a prospect of it being extended up to $\sim$10$^6$. The direction of shower arrival is defined by signal delays from a number of the scintillators placed cross-wise at the periphery of the detector system. For the investigation of nuclear active shower components there was created a multi-tier 55m$^2$ ionization-neutron calorimeter with a sum absorber thickness of $\sim$1000g/cm$^2$, typical spatial resolution of the order of 10cm, and dynamic range of ionization measurement channel about $\sim$10$^5$. Also, the use of saturation-free neutron detectors is anticipated for registration of the high- and low-energy hadron components in the region of shower core. A complex of underground detectors is designed for the study of muonic and penetrative nuclear-active components of the shower.
The full stack of data acquisition, detector calibration, and shower parameters restoration procedures are now completed, and the newly obtained shower size spectrum and lateral distribution of shower particles occur in agreement with conventional data. Future studies in the field of $10^{14}-10^{17}$eV cosmic ray physics to be held at the new shower installation are discussed.

Abstract:
Two approaches are used for description of linear transverse (kink) modes excited in a vertical thin magnetic flux tube. First one is based on the elastic thread model (Spruit, 1981). The second one follows from the the Taylor and Laurent series expansions of wave variables with respect to the tube radius inside and outside of the magnetic flux tube (Lopin and Nagorny, 2013). It has been shown that the main reason of the discrepancy of these approaches is related to the phenomenological equation of plasma motion used in the former case. This suggests that results obtained on the basis of this equation should be revised.

Abstract:
Observations of solar flares at sub-THz frequencies (mm and sub-mm wavelengths) over the last two decades often show a spectral component rising with frequency. Unlike a typical gyrosynchrotron spectrum decreasing with frequency, or a weak thermal component from hot coronal plasma, the observations can demonstrate a high flux level (up to ~10^4 s.f.u. at 0.4 THz) and fast variability on sub-second…

Observations of solar flares at sub-THz frequencies (mm and sub-mm wavelengths) over the last two decades often show a spectral component rising with frequency. Unlike a typical gyrosynchrotron spectrum decreasing with frequency, or a weak thermal component from hot coronal plasma, the observations can demonstrate a high flux level (up to ~10^4 s.f.u. at 0.4 THz) and fast variability on sub-second time scales. Although, many models has been put forward to explain the puzzling observations, none of them have clear observational support. Here we propose a scenario to explain the intriguing sub-THz observations. We show that the model, based on free-free emission from the plasma of flare ribbons at temperatures 10^4-10^6 K, is consistent with all existing observations of frequency-rising sub-THz flare emission. The model provides a temperature diagnostic of the flaring chromosphere and suggests fast heating and cooling of the dense transition region plasma.

It consists of eight charged particle detection points separated by the distance up to one kilometer as well as optical detector subsystem to view the Vavilov-Cerenkov light from the EAS. The time resolution of charged particles and Vavilov-Cerenkov light photons passage of the detector system is a few ns. This level of resolution allows conducting research of atmospheric development of individual EAS.

Further development of the method of computational experiments for solving ill-posed problems is given. The effective (unoverstated) estimate for solution error of the first-kind equation is obtained using the truncating singular numbers spectrum of an operator. It is proposed to estimate the magnitude of the truncation by results of solving model (training, learning) examples close to the initial example (problem). This method takes into account an additional information about the solution and gives a new principle for choosing the regularization parameter and error estimate for equation solution by the Tikhonov regularization method. The method is illustrated by a numerical example from the inverse problem of spectroscopy.

Abstract:
Dielectric properties of carbon nanotubes (CNT) are calculated with taking into account the deviation of carbon valence electrons from to be placed exactly on the CNT surface. The results show difference to the usually applied 2D electron gas theory. The collective as well as individual modes of elementary excitations for a model CNT are presented.

In the present paper we discuss some recent versions of localisation methods for calculations in the groups of points of algebraic-like and classical-like groups. Namely, we describe relative localisation, universal localisation, and enhanced versions of localisation-completion. Apart from the general strategic description of these methods, we state some typical technical results of the conjugation calculus and the commutator calculus. Also, we state several recent results obtained therewith, such as relative standard commutator formulae, bounded width of commutators, with respect to the elementary generators, and nilpotent filtrations of congruence subgroups. Overall, this shows that localisation methods can be much more efficient, than expected.

An intense radio flare on the dMe star AD Leo, observed with the Effelsberg radio telescope and spectrally resolved in a band of 480 MHz centred at 4.85 GHz is analysed. A lower limit of the brightness temperature of the totally right handed polarized emission is estimated as T_b ~ 5x10^10 K (with values T_b > ~3x10^13 K considered to be more probable), which requires a coherent radio emission process. In the interpretation we favour fundamental plasma radiation by mildly relativistic electrons trapped in a hot and dense coronal loop above electron cyclotron maser emission. This leads to densities and magnetic field strengths in the radio source of n ~ 2x10^11 cm^-3 and B ~ 800 G. Quasi-periodic pulsations during the decay phase of the event suggest a loop radius of r ~ 7x10^8 cm. A filamentary corona is implied in which the dense radio source is embedded in hot thin plasma with temperature T >= 2x10^7 K and density n_ext <= 10^-2 n. Runaway acceleration by sub-Dreicer electric fields in a magnetic loop is found to supply a sufficient number of energetic electrons.
