In recent years, Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) observations, Weak Lensing surveys, and $f(z)σ_8(z)$ measurements from Redshift-Space Distortions (RSD) have revealed a significant ($\sim$3$-$5$σ$) discrepancy in the inferred value of the matter clustering parameter $S_8$. In this work, we investigate the implications of RSD for a cosmological framework postulating an interaction between Dark Energy (DE) and Dark Matter (DM). We explore scenarios where DM can transfer energy-momentum to DE or vice versa. The energy-momentum flow is characterized by the strength and the sign of the coupling parameter $ξ$. Our baseline analysis combines RSD measurements with the latest data from Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) observed by DESI, Type Ia Supernovae from the PantheonPlus sample, and CMB data from Planck. We demonstrate that RSD measurements provide significant additional information. When energy-momentum flows from DM to DE (i.e., $ξ< 0$), these measurements set stringent new bounds on the interaction strength. Conversely, when energy-momentum flows from DE to DM ($ξ> 0$), they favor interactions at more than the $2σ$ confidence level. Models with $ξ> 0$ can effectively resolve the tension in $S_8$, presenting them as compelling alternatives.

In this study, we investigate deviations from the Planck-$Λ$CDM model in the late universe ($z \lesssim 2.5$) using the Gaussian Processes method, with minimal assumptions. Our goal is to understand where exploring new physics in the late universe is most relevant. We analyze recent Cosmic Chronometers (CC), Type Ia Supernovae (SN), and Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) data. By examining reconstructions of the dimensionless parameter $δ(z)$, which measures deviations of the Hubble parameter from the Planck-$Λ$CDM predictions, we identify intriguing features at low ($z \lesssim 0.5$) and high ($z \gtrsim 2$) redshifts. Deviations from the Planck-$Λ$CDM model were not significant between $0.5\lesssim z \lesssim2$. Using the combined CC+SN+BAO dataset, we gain insights into dark energy (DE) dynamics, resembling characteristics of omnipotent DE, extending beyond quintessence and phantom models. DE exhibits n-quintessence traits for $z\gtrsim2$, transitioning with a singularity around $z\sim2$ to usual phantom traits in $1\lesssim z\lesssim2$. DE characteristics differ between scenarios ($H_0$-SH0ES and $H_0$-$Λ$\&CMB), with $H_0$-SH0ES leaning towards phantom traits and $H_0$-$Λ$\&CMB towards quintessence. We suggest exploring new physics at $z\lesssim0.5$ and $1.5\lesssim z\lesssim2.5$, particularly around $z = 2$, to understand cosmological tensions such as $H_0$ and $S_8$.

We investigate the implications of the Baryon Acoustic Oscillation measurements released by the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) for Interacting Dark Energy (IDE) models characterized by an energy-momentum flow from Dark Matter to Dark Energy. By combining Planck-2018 and DESI data, we observe a preference for interactions exceeding the 95% confidence level, yielding a present-day expansion rate $H_0=71.4\pm1.5$ km/s/Mpc, in agreement with SH0ES. This preference remains robust when including measurements of the expansion rate $H(z)$ obtained from the relative ages of massive, early-time, and passively-evolving galaxies, as well as when considering distance moduli measurements from Type-Ia Supernovae sourced from the Pantheon-plus catalog using the SH0ES Cepheid host distances as calibrators. Overall, high and low redshift data can be equally or better explained within the IDE framework compared to $Λ$CDM, while also yielding higher values of $H_0$ in better agreement with the local distance ladder estimate.

Interesting discrepancies in cosmological parameters are challenging the success of the $Λ$CDM model. Direct measurements of the Hubble constant $H_0$ using Cepheid variables and supernovae turn out to be higher than inferred from the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). Weak galaxy lensing surveys consistently report values of the strength of matter clustering $σ_8$ lower than values derived from the CMB in the context of $Λ$CDM. In this paper we address these discrepancies in cosmological parameters by considering Dark Energy (DE) as a fluid with evolving equation of state $w_{\mathrm{de}}(z)$, constant sound speed squared $\hat{c}_{\mathrm{s}}^{2}$, and vanishing anisotropic stress $σ$. Our $w_{\mathrm{de}}(z)$ is derived from the Holographic Principle and can consecutively exhibit radiation-like, matter-like, and DE-like behaviour, thus affecting the sound horizon and the comoving angular diameter distance, hence $H_0$. Here we show DE sound speed plays a part in the matter clustering behaviour through its effect on the evolution of the gravitational potential. We compute cosmological constraints using several data set combinations including primary CMB, CMB lensing, redshift-space-distortions, local distance-ladder, supernovae, and baryon acoustic oscillations. In our analysis we marginalise over $\hat{c}_{\mathrm{s}}^{2}$ and find $\hat{c}_{\mathrm{s}}^{2}=1$ is excluded at $\gtrsim 3σ$. For our baseline result including the whole data set we found $H_0$ and $σ_8$ in good agreement (within $\approx 2σ$) with low redshift probes. Our constraint for the baryon energy density $ω_{\rm{b}}$ is however in $\approx 3σ$ tension with BBN constraints. We conclude evolving DE also having non-standard clustering properties [e.g., $\hat{c}_{\mathrm{s}}^{2}(z,k)$] might be relevant for the solution of current discrepancies in cosmological parameters.

A study on the effects of implementing the Granda-Oliveros infrared cutoff in the recently introduced Barrow Holographic Dark Energy model is presented, and its cosmological evolution is investigated. We find how the deformation parameter, $Δ$, affects the values of $H(z)$, and find that from this model it is possible to obtain an accelerated expansion regime of the universe at late times. We also obtain that increasing $Δ$ causes the EoS parameter to transition from quintessence to phantom. In addition, we show that the model can be used to describe the know eras of dominance. Finally, after studying the stability of the proposed model, a fit of the corresponding parameters is preformed, utilizing the measurements of the expansion rate of the universe, $H(z)$. The best fit of the parameters is found to be $(α,\, β,\, Δ) = (1.00^{+0.02}_{-0.02},\,0.69^{+0.03}_{-0.02},\,0.000^{+0.004}_{-0.000})$ at $1σ$ C.L, for which the Bekenstein-Hawking relation is favored.

Waveguide arrays offer enormous potential to design circuit elements essential to fabricate optical devices capable to processing information codified by light. In this work we study the existence and stability of localized beams in one dimensional photonic lattices composed by a Kerr type waveguide array. We analyzed the case where discrete translation symmetry is broken in as much as one of the waveguides lacks a nonlinear response. Specifically, we determined the space of parameters where a coherent and robust mobility across the lattice is achieved. Moreover, we calculate the reflection and transmission coefficients when localized beams interact directly with the impurity, finding that it behaves as a variable filter depending of system parameters. Our results would shed light on develop solutions to keep unaltered information during its transmission within future optical devices.
