Hermitian metrics with vanishing second Chern Ricci curvature
Abstract: We describe a rigidity phenomenon exhibited by the second Chern Ricci curvature of a Hermitian metric on a compact complex manifold. This yields a characterisation of second Chern Ricci-flat Hermitian metrics on several types of manifolds as well as a range of non-existence results for such metrics.

Palais-Smale sequences for the prescribed Ricci curvature functional
Abstract: We obtain a complete description of divergent Palais-Smale sequences for the prescribed Ricci curvature functional on compact homogeneous spaces. As an application, we prove the existence of saddle points on generalized Wallach spaces and several types of generalized flag manifolds. We also describe the image of the Ricci map in some of our examples.

On the variational properties of the prescribed Ricci curvature functional
Abstract: We study the prescribed Ricci curvature problem for homogeneous metrics. Given a (0,2)-tensor field $T$, this problem asks for solutions to the equation $\mathrm{Ric}(g)=cT$ for some constant $c$. Our approach is based on examining global properties of the scalar curvature functional whose critical points are solutions to this equation. We produce conditions for a general homogeneous space under w… ▽ More

The Prescribed Ricci Curvature Problem for Homogeneous Metrics
Abstract: The prescribed Ricci curvature problem consists in finding a Riemannian metric $g$ on a manifold $M$ such that the Ricci curvature of $g$ equals a given $(0,2)$-tensor field $T$. We survey the recent progress on this problem in the case where $M$ is a homogeneous space.

On the Ricci iteration for homogeneous metrics on spheres and projective spaces
Abstract: We study the Ricci iteration for homogeneous metrics on spheres and complex projective spaces. Such metrics can be described in terms of modifying the canonical metric on the fibers of a Hopf fibration. When the fibers of the Hopf fibration are circles or spheres of dimension 2 or 7, we observe that the Ricci iteration as well as all ancient Ricci iterations can be completely described using known… ▽ More

Maxima of Curvature Functionals and the Prescribed Ricci Curvature Problem on Homogeneous Spaces
Abstract: Consider a compact Lie group $G$ and a closed Lie subgroup $H<G$. Let $\mathcal M$ be the set of $G$-invariant Riemannian metrics on the homogeneous space $M=G/H$. By studying variational properties of the scalar curvature functional on $\mathcal M$, we obtain an existence theorem for solutions to the prescribed Ricci curvature problem on $M$. The Prescribed Ricci Curvature Problem on Homogeneous Spaces with Intermediate Subgroups
Abstract: Consider a compact Lie group $G$ and a closed subgroup $H<G$. Suppose $\mathcal M$ is the set of $G$-invariant Riemannian metrics on the homogeneous space $M=G/H$. We obtain a sufficient condition for the existence of $g\in\mathcal M$ and $c>0$ such that the Ricci curvature of $g$ equals $cT$ for a given $T\in\mathcal M$. Ricci iteration on homogeneous spaces
Abstract: The Ricci iteration is a discrete analogue of the Ricci flow. We give the first study of the Ricci iteration on a class of Riemannian manifolds that are not Kähler. The Ricci iteration in the non-Kähler setting exhibits new phenomena. Among them is the existence of so-called ancient Ricci iterations. As we show, these are closely related to ancient Ricci flows and provide the first nontrivial exam… ▽ More

The Li-Yau-Hamilton Estimate and the Yang-Mills Heat Equation on Manifolds with Boundary
Abstract: The paper pursues two connected goals. Firstly, we establish the Li-Yau-Hamilton estimate for the heat equation on a manifold $M$ with nonempty boundary. Results of this kind are typically used to prove monotonicity formulas related to geometric flows. Secondly, we establish bounds for a solution $\nabla(t)$ of the Yang-Mills heat equation in a vector bundle over $M$. The Li-Yau-Hamilton estimat… ▽ More

The Hopf Boundary Point Lemma for Vector Bundle Sections
Abstract: The paper establishes a version of the Hopf boundary point lemma for sections of a vector bundle over a manifold with boundary. This result may be viewed as a counterpart to the tensor maximum principle obtained by R. Hamilton in 1986. Potential applications include the study of various geometric flows and the construction of invariant sets for geometric boundary value problems.
