Observation of a rare beta decay of the charmed baryon with a Graph Neural Network

Abstract: The study of beta decay of the charmed baryon provides unique insights into the fundamental mechanism of the strong and electro-weak interactions. The $Λ_c^+$, being the lightest charmed baryon, undergoes disintegration solely through the charm quark weak decay. Its beta decay provides an ideal laboratory for investigating non-perturbative effects in quantum chromodynamics and for constraining the… ▽ More The study of beta decay of the charmed baryon provides unique insights into the fundamental mechanism of the strong and electro-weak interactions. The $Λ_c^+$, being the lightest charmed baryon, undergoes disintegration solely through the charm quark weak decay. Its beta decay provides an ideal laboratory for investigating non-perturbative effects in quantum chromodynamics and for constraining the fundamental parameters of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix in weak interaction theory. This article presents the first observation of the Cabibbo-suppressed $Λ_c^+$ beta decay into a neutron $Λ_c^+ \rightarrow n e^+ ν_{e}$, based on $4.5~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of electron-positron annihilation data collected with the BESIII detector in the energy region above the $Λ^+_c\barΛ^-_c$ threshold. A novel machine learning technique, leveraging Graph Neural Networks, has been utilized to effectively separate signals from dominant backgrounds, particularly $Λ_c^+ \rightarrow Λe^+ ν_{e}$. This approach has yielded a statistical significance of more than $10σ$. The absolute branching fraction of $Λ_c^+ \rightarrow n e^+ ν_{e}$ is measured to be $(3.57\pm0.34_{\mathrm{stat}}\pm0.14_{\mathrm{syst}})\times 10^{-3}$. For the first time, the CKM matrix element $\left|V_{cd}\right|$ is extracted via a charmed baryon decay to be $0.208\pm0.011_{\rm exp.}\pm0.007_{\rm LQCD}\pm0.001_{τ_{Λ_c^+}}$. This study provides a new probe to further understand fundamental interactions in the charmed baryon sector, and demonstrates the power of modern machine learning techniques in enhancing experimental capability in high energy physics research. △ Less

Abstract: Utilizing 4.5${~\rm{fb}}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV, the first observation of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $Λ_c^{+}\to pπ^0$ is presented, with a statistical significance of $5.4σ$. The branching fractions of these decays are determined to be $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c0}\to p \bar p K^{0}_{S} K^- π^+ + c.c.)=(2.61\pm0.27\pm0.32)\times10^{-5},$ $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c1}\to p \bar p K^{0}_{S} K^- π^+ + c.c.)=(4.16\pm0.24\pm0.46)\times10^{-5},$ and $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c2}\to p \bar p K^{0}_{S} K^- π^+ + c.c.)=(5.63\pm0.28\pm0.46)\times10^{-5}$, respectively. The processes $χ_{c1,2} \to \bar{p} Λ(1520) K^0_S π^{+} + c.c.$ are also observed, with statistical significances of 5.7$σ$ and 7.0$σ$, respectively. Evidence for $χ_{c0} \to\bar{p} Λ(1520) K^0_S π^{+} + c.c.$ is found with statistical significances of 3.3$σ$ each. The corresponding branching fractions are determined to be $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c0}\to \bar{p} Λ(1520) K^0_S π^{+} + c.c.) =(1.61^{+0.68}_{-0.64}\pm0.23)\times10^{-5}$, $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c1}\to \bar{p} Λ(1520) K^0_S π^{+} + c.c.)=(4.06^{+0.80}_{-0.76}\pm0.52)\times10^{-5}$, and $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c2}\to \bar{p} Λ(1520) K^0_S π^{+} + c.c.)=(4.09^{+0.87}_{-0.84}\pm0.42)\times10^{-5}$. Abstract: Using $20.3\,\rm fb^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at the center-of-mass energy 3.773\,GeV with the BESIII detector, we report the first observation of the semileptonic decay $D^+\to η^\prime μ^+ν_μ$ with significance of $8.6σ$ including systematic uncertainties, and an improved measurement of $D^+\to η^\prime e^+ν_e$. The branching fractions of $D^+\to η^\prime μ^+ν_μ$ and $D^+\to η^\prime e^+ν_e$ are determined to be $(1.92\pm0.28_{\rm stat}\pm 0.08_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-4}$ and $(1.79\pm0.19_{\rm stat}\pm 0.07_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-4}$, respectively. From an analysis of the $D^+\to η^\prime \ell^+ν_\ell$ decay dynamics, the product of the hadronic form factor $f_+^{η^{\prime}}(0)$ and the CKM matrix element $|V_{cd}|$ is measured for the first time, giving $f^{η^\prime}_+(0)|V_{cd}| = (5.92\pm0.56_{\rm stat}\pm0.13_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-2}$. No evidence for violation of $μ-e$ lepton-flavor universality is found in both the full range and several bins of $\ell^+ν_\ell$ four-momentum transfer. Precision Measurement of the Branching Fraction of $D^{+}\to μ^{+}ν_μ$

Interpreting our measurement with knowledge of the Fermi coupling constant $G_F$, the masses of the $D^+$ and $μ^+$ as well as the lifetime of the $D^+$, we determine $f_{D^+}|V_{cd}|=(47.53\pm0.48_{\rm stat}\pm0.24_{\rm syst}\pm0.12_{\rm input})~\mathrm{MeV}$. This result is a factor of 2.3 more precise than the previous best measurement. Using the value of the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cd}|$ given by the global standard model fit, we obtain the $D^+$ decay constant $f_{D^+}=(211.5\pm2.3_{\rm stat}\pm1.1_{\rm syst}\pm0.8_{\rm input})$ MeV. Alternatively, using the value of $f_{D^+}$ from a precise lattice quantum chromodynamics calculation, we extract $|V_{cd}|=0.2242\pm0.0023_{\rm stat}\pm0.0011_{\rm syst}\pm0.0009_{\rm input}$. △ Less

Observation of an axial-vector state in the study of $ψ(3686) \to φηη'$ decay

The branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(ψ(3686) \to φηη')$ is measured for the first time to be (3.14$\pm0.17_{\mathrm{stat}}\pm0.24_{\mathrm{syst}})\times10^{-5}$. Probing quantum correlations in non-degenerate hyper-Raman process

Abstract: Possibilities of observing single mode and intermodal quantum correlations (e.g., antibunching, steering and entanglement) are studied for a probed-hyper-Raman system with specific attention on the impact of a probe on the single and multi-mode quantum correlations generated in a hyper-Raman active system. The physical system studied here considers that the probe interacts continuously with the no… ▽ More Possibilities of observing single mode and intermodal quantum correlations (e.g., antibunching, steering and entanglement) are studied for a probed-hyper-Raman system with specific attention on the impact of a probe on the single and multi-mode quantum correlations generated in a hyper-Raman active system. The physical system studied here considers that the probe interacts continuously with the non-degenerate pump modes in the hyper-Raman active system via a nonlinear coupling. The investigation has revealed that quantum correlations in the Raman systems can be controlled using the probe. Further, it is observed that the quantum steering between the pump and anti-Stokes modes can be influenced significantly by controlling the interaction between the system and the probe. Unlike steering, probe could neither deteriorate the nonclassical correlations, namely intermodal entanglement and photon antibunching, nor induce them. Search for $D^0\to K^-ηe^+ν_e$, $D^+\to K_S^0 ηe^+ν_e$ and $D^+\to ηηe^+ν_e$ decays

Abstract: By analyzing $e^+e^-$ annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.93 fb$^{-1}$, collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we search for the semileptonic decays $D^0\to K^-ηe^+ν_e$, $D^+\to K_S^0 ηe^+ν_e$ and $D^+\to ηηe^+ν_e$ for the first time. We present evidence for $D^0\to K^-ηe^+ν_e$ with a significance of $3.3σ$. Investigating C-Doop vibrational modes in PAHs as a tool to study interstellar deuterium-containing PAHs

Subsequently, several forms of organics including Polycylic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs)/PAHs-like molecules are proposed as carriers for these bands. Deuterated PAH (PAD) is one such substituted PAH, which is proposed as a potential candidate carrier for weak emission bands at 4.4 and 4.65 micron, detected towards few astronomical targets and are characteristics of aromatic and aliphatic C-D stretching modes in a PAD molecule, respectively. However, the 4.4 micron band is not widely detected. In order to validate PADs as carriers for mid-infrared emission bands, an additional alternative way is crucial. If PAHs are deuterated or deuteronated, they should also possess an inherent signature from the C-D out of plane (C-Doop) vibrations, which are at the longer wavelength side. In this report, features due to C-Doop modes belonging to PAHs with single to multiple deuteration in the same ring are reported by performing quantum-chemical calculations. We found that some of the C-Doop vibrations appear at 14-19 micron range, which does not overlap with the region attributed to C-Hoop modes. Also, the strength of C-Doop modes is not proportional to D/H in PAHs. In addition, new C-Hoop modes also appear due to the creation of new C-H bonds upon deuteration of duet, trio, and quartet C-H sites. We discuss the efficiency and usefulness of these bands to constrain the form of PAHs emitting mid-infrared emission bands. △ Less

Heralded detection of photons in laboratories of sender and receiver followed by classical communications of even and odd number of photons and local unitary operations, impeccably, accomplishes simultaneous faithful asymmetric bidirectional quantum teleportation with one eighth of probability of success. It is seen that not all detection events implement the protocol and, therefore, one has to locally apply displacement operator, a necessary evil. We analyze near faithful partial asymmetric bidirectional quantum teleportation and associated probability of success therein. The expected uncertainty on $γ$ arising from the precision of the strong-phase measurements, when applied to very large samples of $B$-meson decays, is around $1.5^\circ$ or $2^\circ$, depending on the binning scheme. The binned strong-phase parameters are combined to give a value of $F_+^{4π} = 0.746 \pm 0.010 \pm 0.004$ for the $C\!P$-even fraction of $D^0 \to π^+π^-π^+π^-$ decays, which is around 30\% more precise than the previous best measurement of this quantity. △ Less

N-heterocycles, which are crucial as the fundamental structures of nucleobases, have been a focus of these aromatic searches due to their biological significance. Although N-heterocycles have not been conclusively detected in astrophysical environments, their presence in chondrites and meteorites signifies their interstellar and circumstellar connection. Precise spectral data identifies the unique signatures of molecules, confirming their presence in space. In this light, the present work reports an extensive computational investigation on interstellar 3-pyrroline; a five-membered ring N-heterocycle. This includes an alternative formation route in cold interstellar environments and highly accurate rotational and vibrational spectroscopy. The results indicate that 3-pyrroline can form on dust grain surfaces from vinyl cyanide, as its formation from pyrrole through double hydrogenation may lead to the formation of pyrrole itself via a H$_{2}$ abstraction process. 3-pyrroline's rotational transition at 52.3 GHz offers a potential tool for its detection in cold interstellar regions. Additionally, the strongest infrared features of 3-pyrroline at 16.09 $μ$m and $\sim$3.50 $μ$m are observable with JWST. The qandies model is already used to explain the essential concepts of quantum science and quantum cryptography. However, teleportation and related concepts are yet to be explained. Motivated by this fact, we investigate and extend the idea of Jacobs and Lin-Mor-Shapira to explain teleportation using qandies. Here, we explicitly design the teleportation protocol and perform a circuit model using qandy gates. The protocol is successful when the correlated qandies are appropriately pre-shared and use of some local operations at both ends. An NL outline for a code function comprises multiple statements written in concise prose, which partition the code and summarize its main ideas in the style of literate programming. Crucially, we find that modern LLMs can generate accurate and high-quality NL outlines in practice. Moreover, NL outlines enable a bidirectional sync between code and NL, allowing changes in one to be automatically reflected in the other. We discuss many use cases for NL outlines: they can accelerate understanding and navigation of code and diffs, simplify code maintenance, augment code search, steer code generation, and more. We then propose and compare multiple LLM prompting techniques for generating outlines and ask professional developers to judge outline quality. From these results, we obtain the branching fractions ${\mathcal B}$($D^+\to (K_S^0π^0)_{S\text{-}{\rm wave}}~e^+ν_e$) = $(5.41~\pm~0.35_{\rm stat.}~\pm~0.37_{\rm syst.})\times10^{-4}$ and ${\mathcal B}$($D^+\to \bar K^{*}(892)^0e^+ν_e$) = $(4.97~\pm~0.11_{\rm stat.}~\pm~0.12_{\rm syst.})$\%. In addition, the hadronic form-factor ratios of $D^{+} \to \bar {K}^{*}(892)^0e^+ν_e$ at $q^2=0$, assuming a single-pole dominance parameterization, are determined to be $r_V=\frac{V(0)}{A_1(0)}= 1.43~\pm~0.07_{\rm stat.}~\pm~0.03_{\rm syst.}$ and $r_2=\frac{A_2(0)}{A_1(0)}=0.72~\pm~0.06_{\rm stat.}~\pm~0.02_{\rm syst.}$. △ Less

Here, ${\cal B}$ is the branching fraction of $ψ(2S)\rightarrowγπ^{0}$ and $φ$ is the relative phase angle between the $ψ(2S)$ and continuum amplitudes. The product of the branching fractions of $ψ(3686) \to γη_{c}(2S)$ and $η_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-} η$ is measured to be $\mathcal{B}(ψ(3686) \toγη_{c}(2S))\times \mathcal{B}(η_{c}(2S)\to K^{+} K^{-}η)=(2.39 \pm 0.32 \pm 0.34) \times 10^{-6}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical, and the second one is systematic. The branching fraction of $η_{c}(2S)\to K^{+} K^{-}η$ is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(η_{c}(2S)\to K^{+} K^{-}η) = (3.42 \pm 0.46 \pm 0.48 \pm 2.44) \times 10^{-3}$, where the third uncertainty is due to the branching fraction of $ψ(3686) \to γη_{c}(2S)$. Using a recent BESIII measurement of $\mathcal{B} (η_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-}π^{0})$, we also determine the ratio between the branching fractions of $η_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-}η$ and $η_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-}π^{0}$ to be $1.49 \pm 0.22 \pm 0.25$, which is consistent with the previous result of BaBar at a comparable precision level. △ Less

This paper introduces a multivariate variant of the cumulative copula entropy and explores its various properties, including bounds, stochastic orders, and convergence-related results. Additionally, we define a cumulative copula information generating function and derive it for several well-known families of multivariate copulas. A fractional generalization of the multivariate cumulative copula entropy is also introduced and examined. We present a non-parametric estimator of the cumulative copula entropy using empirical beta copula. Furthermore, we propose a new distance measure between two copulas based on the Kullback-Leibler divergence and discuss a goodness-of-fit test based on this measure. △ Less

The product branching fractions are determined to be ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to b_{1}(1235)^-e^{+}ν_{e})\times {\mathcal B} (b_1(1235)^-\to ωπ^-) = (0.72\pm0.18^{+0.06}_{-0.08})\times10^{-4}$ and ${\mathcal B}(D^+\to b_{1}(1235)^0e^{+}ν_{e})\times {\mathcal B} (b_1(1235)^0~\to ωπ^0) = (1.16\pm0.44\pm0.16)\times10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The ratio of their partial decay widths is determined to be $\frac{Γ(D^0\to b_{1}(1235)^-e^{+}ν_{e})}{2Γ(D^+\to b_{1}(1235)^0e^{+}ν_{e})}=0.78\pm0.19^{+0.04}_{-0.05}$, which is consistent with unity, predicted by isospin invariance, within uncertainties. △ Less

Abstract: We perform the first investigation of the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to K^+K^-ψ(2S)$ and report its Born cross sections over a range of center-of-mass energies from 4.699 to 4.951~GeV. Abstract: Using $(2.712\pm0.014)\times10^{9}$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII, we find an evidence of the $η_{c}(2S)\to K^+ K^- η^{\prime}$ decay with a statistical significance of 3.1$σ$. Its decay branching fraction is measured to be $(12.24\pm4.60(\mathrm{stat.})\pm2.37(\mathrm{syst.})\pm4.68(\mathrm{extr.}))\times 10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is stati… ▽ More Using $(2.712\pm0.014)\times10^{9}$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII, we find an evidence of the $η_{c}(2S)\to K^+ K^- η^{\prime}$ decay with a statistical significance of 3.1$σ$. Its decay branching fraction is measured to be $(12.24\pm4.60(\mathrm{stat.})\pm2.37(\mathrm{syst.})\pm4.68(\mathrm{extr.}))\times 10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third uncertainty is from the branching fraction of the $ψ(3686)\toγη_{c}(2S)$ decay. The upper limit on the product branching fraction $B[ψ(3686)\toγη_{c}(2S)] \times$ $B[η_{c}(2S)\to K^+ K^- η^{\prime}]$ is set to be $1.14 \times 10^{-6}$ at $90\%$ confidence level. In addition, the branching fractions of $χ_{c1}\to K^+ K^- η^{\prime}$ and $χ_{c2}\to K^+ K^- η^{\prime}$ are updated to be $(8.47\pm0.09(\mathrm{stat.})\pm0.47(\mathrm{syst.}))\times 10^{-4}$ and $(1.53\pm0.04(\mathrm{stat.})\pm0.08(\mathrm{syst.}))\times 10^{-4}$, respectively. Top Quark Mass Extractions from Energy Correlators: A Feasibility Study

In this paper, we perform an extensive event generator simulation study of this proposal, testing both its experimental viability, as well as its sensitivity to different subprocesses in the top quark production an… ▽ More In a recent article, we proposed an energy correlator-based method to achieve a precision top quark mass extraction from jet substructure, using the $W$-boson mass as a standard candle. In this paper, we perform an extensive event generator simulation study of this proposal, testing both its experimental viability, as well as its sensitivity to different subprocesses in the top quark production and decay. On the experimental side, we show that uncertainties in the jet energy scale, constituent energy scale, and tracking efficiency have a minimal effect. On the theoretical side, we find that our observable isolates the perturbative decay of the top quark, while nonperturbative physics, such as the modelling of color reconnection, and underlying event, have a negligible impact on the distribution. We conclude that our proposed measurement is resilient to the experimental and theoretical aspects of the hadron collider environment, with variations in model parameters consistently leading to $\lesssim 100~$MeV shifts in the measured top mass. Our results motivate precision theoretical calculations of the energy correlator on top decays, both analytic and using parton shower generators, and further exploration of the experimental measurement. △ Less

The product of the decay constant and Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cs}|$ is determined to be $f_{D_s^+}|V_{cs}|=(246.5\pm5.9_{\rm stat}\pm3.6_{\rm syst}\pm0.5_{\rm input})_{μν}~\mathrm{MeV}$ and $f_{D_s^+}|V_{cs}|=(252.7\pm3.6_{\rm stat}\pm4.5_{\rm syst}\pm0.6_{\rm input}))_{τν}~\mathrm{MeV}$, respectively. Taking the value of $|V_{cs}|$ from a global fit in the Standard Model, we obtain ${f_{D^+_s}}=(252.8\pm6.0_{\rm stat}\pm3.7_{\rm syst}\pm0.6_{\rm input})_{μν}$ MeV and ${f_{D^+_s}}=(259.2\pm3.6_{\rm stat}\pm4.5_{\rm syst}\pm0.6_{\rm input})_{τν}$ MeV, respectively. Conversely, taking the value for $f_{D_s^+}$ from the latest lattice quantum chromodynamics calculation, we obtain $|V_{cs}| =(0.986\pm0.023_{\rm stat}\pm0.014_{\rm syst}\pm0.003_{\rm input})_{μν}$ and $|V_{cs}| = (1.011\pm0.014_{\rm stat}\pm0.018_{\rm syst}\pm0.003_{\rm input})_{τν}$, respectively. △ Less

The absolute branching fractions of $D_{s1}(2536)^- \rightarrow \bar{D}^{*0}K^-$ and $D_{s2}^*(2573)^- \rightarrow \bar{D}^0K^-$ are measured for the first time to be… ▽ More The $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D_{s1}(2536)^-$ and $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ processes are studied using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies from 4.530 to 4.946~GeV. The absolute branching fractions of $D_{s1}(2536)^- \rightarrow \bar{D}^{*0}K^-$ and $D_{s2}^*(2573)^- \rightarrow \bar{D}^0K^-$ are measured for the first time to be $(35.9\pm 4.8\pm 3.5)\%$ and $(37.4\pm 3.1\pm 4.6)\%$, respectively. The measurements are in tension with predictions based on the assumption that the $D_{s1}(2536)$ and $D_{s2}^*(2573)$ are dominated by a bare $c\bar{s}$ component. The $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D_{s1}(2536)^-$ and $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ cross sections are measured, and a resonant structure at around 4.6~GeV with a width of 50~MeV is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of $15σ$ in the $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ process. It could be the $Y(4626)$ found by the Belle collaboration in the $D_s^+D_{s1}(2536)^{-}$ final state, since they have similar masses and widths. There is also evidence for a structure at around 4.75~GeV in both processes. △ Less

Soli-enabled Noncontact Heart Rate Detection for Sleep and Meditation Tracking

Traditional methods for measuring HR require wearable devices, which can be inconvenient or uncomfortable, especially during sleep and meditation. Noncontact HR detection methods employing microwave radar can be a promising alternative. However, the existing approaches in the literature usually use hi… ▽ More Heart rate (HR) is a crucial physiological signal that can be used to monitor health and fitness. Traditional methods for measuring HR require wearable devices, which can be inconvenient or uncomfortable, especially during sleep and meditation. Noncontact HR detection methods employing microwave radar can be a promising alternative. However, the existing approaches in the literature usually use high-gain antennas and require the sensor to face the user's chest or back, making them difficult to integrate into a portable device and unsuitable for sleep and meditation tracking applications. This study presents a novel approach for noncontact HR detection using a miniaturized Soli radar chip embedded in a portable device (Google Nest Hub). The chip has a $6.5 \mbox{ mm} \times 5 \mbox{ mm} \times 0.9 \mbox{ mm}$ dimension and can be easily integrated into various devices. The proposed approach utilizes advanced signal processing and machine learning techniques to extract HRs from radar signals. The approach is validated on a sleep dataset (62 users, 498 hours) and a meditation dataset (114 users, 1131 minutes). The approach achieves a mean absolute error (MAE) of $1.69$ bpm and a mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of $2.67\%$ on the sleep dataset. On the meditation dataset, the approach achieves an MAE of $1.05$ bpm and a MAPE of $1.56\%$. The recall rates for the two datasets are $88.53\%$ and $98.16\%$, respectively. This study represents the first application of the noncontact HR detection technology to sleep and meditation tracking, offering a promising alternative to wearable devices for HR monitoring during sleep and meditation. △ Less

To this end, topological data analysis (TDA) has been utilized to derive useful representations that can contribute to improving performance and robustness against perturbations. Despite its effectiveness, the requirements for large computational resources and significant time consumption in extracting topological features through TDA are critical problems when implementing it on small devices. To address this issue, we propose a framework called Topological Guidance-based Knowledge Distillation (TGD), which uses topological features in knowledge distillation (KD) for image classification tasks. We utilize KD to train a superior lightweight model and provide topological features with multiple teachers simultaneously. We introduce a mechanism for integrating features from different teachers and reducing the knowledge gap between teachers and the student, which aids in improving performance. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach through diverse empirical evaluations. △ Less

The integration of light emitting nanoparticle (NP) dopants, such as quantum dots (QDs) and rare-earth doped nanoparticles (RENPs), into a polymer resist would enable 3D printing of active polymer micro-photonic devices, including sensors, lasers, and solid-state displays. Many NPs are stabilized with oleic acid ligands to prevent degradation, but oleate-capped NPs (oc-NPs) tend to agglomerate in nonpolar media despite the hydrophobicity of the ligand. This results in an uneven distribution of NPs in polymers and increased optical extinction properties. In this work, we propose a general approach for dispersing various oc-NPs in commercial 3D printable polymers. We achieve controlled growth of small carbon chains around the oc-NPs by functionalizing the NPs with methyl-methacrylate monomers. The proposed approach is validated on RENPs (~65 nm) and CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (~12 nm) using different commercial polymer resists (IP-Dip and IP-Visio). Dispersions of functionalized NPs (f-NPs) have improved NP density by an order of magnitude and are shown to be stable for several weeks with minimal impact on printing quality. Our approach is generalizable to a variety of oc-NPs and ultimately leads to higher quality polymer-based optical and electronic devices. △ Less

The combined result is $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to p \bar{p} η)=(1.495 \pm 0.001 \pm 0.023)\times\,10^{-3}$ where the first uncertainty is the combined statistical uncertainty and the second one the combined systematic uncertainty of both analyses, incorporating correlations between them. Abstract: Analyzing $e^+e^-$ collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $7.33~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226~GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the branching fraction of the semileptonic decay $D^+_{s}\to K^0 e^+ν_e$ to be $(2.98\pm0.23\pm0.12)\times10^{-3}$. The $D_s^+\to K^0$ hadronic form factor is determined from the differential decay rate of $D^+_s\to K^0 e^+ν_e$ to be $f^{K^0}_+(0)=0.636\pm0.049\pm0.013$. For both measurements, the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The branching fraction and form factor measurements are factors of 1.6 and 1.7 more precise than the previous world averages, respectively. △ Less

Abstract: Using $e^+e^-$ annihilation data sets corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.5 $\text{fb}^{-1}$, collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV, we report the first measurements of the absolute branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to pK_{L}^{0})=(1.67 \pm 0.06 \pm 0. 04)\%$, $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to pK_{L}^{0}π^+π^-)=(1.69 \pm 0.10 \pm 0.05)\%$, an… ▽ More Using $e^+e^-$ annihilation data sets corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.5 $\text{fb}^{-1}$, collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV, we report the first measurements of the absolute branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to pK_{L}^{0})=(1.67 \pm 0.06 \pm 0. 04)\%$, $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to pK_{L}^{0}π^+π^-)=(1.69 \pm 0.10 \pm 0.05)\%$, and $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to pK_{L}^{0}π^0)=(2.02 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.05)\%$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. Combining with the known branching fractions of $Λ_c^+ \to pK_{S}^{0}$, $Λ_c^+ \to pK_{S}^{0}π^+π^-$, and $Λ_c^+ \to pK_{S}^{0}π^0$, we present the first measurements of the $K_{S}^{0}$-$K_{L}^{0}$ asymmetries $R(Λ_c^+, K_{S,L}^0X) = \frac{\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+ \to K_{S}^{0} X) - \mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+ \to K_{L}^{0} X)}{\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+ \to K_{S}^{0} X) + \mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+ \to K_{L}^{0} X)}$ in charmed baryon decays: $R(Λ_c^+, pK_{S,L}^0) = -0.025 \pm 0.031$, $R(Λ_c^+, pK_{S,L}^0π^+π^-) = -0.027 \pm 0.048$, and $R(Λ_c^+, pK_{S,L}^0π^0) =-0.015 \pm 0.046$. Moreover, we measure the relative branching fraction between $φ\toπ^+π^-π^0$ and $φ\to K^+K^-$ to be $\frac{\mathcal{B}(φ(1020) \to π^+π^-π^0)}{\mathcal{B}(φ(1020) \to K^+K^-)}=0.230 \pm 0.014_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.010_{\rm syst.}$, which deviates from the world average value by more than $4σ$. △ Less

Copula-Based Estimation of Causal Effects in Multiple Linear and Path Analysis Models

It utilizes one or more structural regression equations in the model which are used to estim… ▽ More Regression analysis is one of the most popularly used statistical technique which only measures the direct effect of independent variables on dependent variable. Path analysis looks for both direct and indirect effects of independent variables and may overcome several hurdles allied with regression models. It utilizes one or more structural regression equations in the model which are used to estimate the unknown parameters. The aim of this work is to study the path analysis models when the endogenous (dependent) variable and exogenous (independent) variables are linked through the elliptical copulas. Using well-organized numerical schemes, we investigate the performance of path models when direct and indirect effects are estimated applying classical ordinary least squares and copula-based regression approaches in different scenarios. Finally, two real data applications are also presented to demonstrate the performance of path analysis using copula approach. △ Less
