We investigate a general $U(1)_X$ scenario where we introduce three generations of Standard Model (SM) singlet Right Handed Neutrinos (RHNs) to generate the light neutrino mass through the seesaw mechanism after the breaking of $U(1)_X$ and electroweak symmetries. In addition to that, a general $U(1)_X$ scenario involves an SM-singlet scalar field and due to the $U(1)_X$ symmetry breaking the mass of a neutral beyond the SM (BSM) gauge boson $Z^\prime$ is evolved. The RHNs, being charged under $U(1)_X$ scenario, can explain the origin of observed baryon asymmetry through the resonant leptogenesis process. Applying observed neutrino oscillation data we study $Z^\prime$ and BSM scalar induced processes to reproduce the observed baryon asymmetry. Hence we estimate bounds on the $U(1)_X$ gauge coupling $(g_X)$ and the mass of the $Z^\prime$ $(M_{Z^\prime})$ for different $U(1)_X$ charges and benchmark masses of RHN and SM-singlet scalar. Finally we compare our results with limits obtained from the existing limits from LEP-II and LHC. We find that depending on the $U(1)_X$ charges, the masses of RHNs and SM-singlet scalar resonant leptogenesis could provide stronger limit on $g_X$ for $M_{Z^\prime} > 5.8$ TeV which could be probed by high energy scattering experiment in future.

Magnesium and calcium batteries offer promising energy storage solutions characterised by cost-effectiveness, safety, and high energy density. However, the scarcity of viable electrode and electrolyte materials vastly hinders their advancement. This study utilises solid-state metathetical reactions involving predominantly chalcogen- and pnictogen-based honeycomb layered oxides with alkaline-earth halides/nitrates to synthesise $\rm Mg^{2+}$- and $\rm Ca^{2+}$-based materials previously achievable only under high-temperature/high-pressure conditions, as well as new metastable materials with unique crystal versatility. Particularly, we employ metathetical reactions involving $\rm Li_4MgTeO_6$, $\rm Na_2Mg_2TeO_6$, and $\rm Na_4MgTeO_6$ with $\rm MgCl_2$\,/\,$\rm Mg(NO_3)_2$ or $\rm Ca(NO_3)_2$ at temperatures not exceeding 500 $^\circ$C to produce $\rm Mg_3TeO_6$ polymorphs, ilmenite-type $\rm CaMg_2TeO_6$\,/\,$\rm Mg_2CaTeO_6$, and double perovskite $\rm Ca_2MgTeO_6$. Thus, we demonstrate that these materials, conventionally requiring gigascale pressures and high temperatures (>1000$^\circ$C) for their proper synthesis, are now readily accessible at ambient pressure and considerably lower temperatures. Meanwhile, despite sub-optimal pellet densities, the synthesised ilmenite-type $\rm Mg_3TeO_6$ and double perovskite ${\rm Ca}_2M{\rm TeO_6}$ ($M = \rm Mg, Ca, Zn$)} materials exhibit remarkable bulk ionic conductivity at room temperature, marking them as promising compositional spaces for exploring novel $\rm Mg^{2+}$ and $\rm Ca^{2+}$ conductors. Furthermore, this study extends the applicability of metathetical reactions to attain Mg- or Ca-based bismuthates, antimonates, ruthenates, tungstates, titanates, phosphates, and silicates, thus opening avenues to novel high-entropy multifunctional nanomaterial platforms with utility in energy storage and beyond.

After the $U(1)_X$ is broken, RHNs participate in the seesaw mechanism to generate light neutrino masses satisfying neutrino oscillation data. In addition to that, a neutral gauge boson $Z^\prime$ is evolved which interacts with the left and right handed fermions differently manifesting chiral nature of the model which could be probed in future collider experiments. As a result, if we consider $μ^+ e^-$ and $μ^+ μ^+$ collisions in $μ$TRISTAN experiment $Z^\prime$ mediated $2\to2$ scattering will appear in $t-$ and $u-$channels depending on the initial and final states being accompanied by the photon and $Z$ mediated interactions. This will result well motivated resulting forward dominant scenarios giving rise to sizable left-right asymmetry. Estimating constrains on general $U(1)$ coupling from LEP-II and LHC for different $U(1)_X$ charges, we calculate differential and integrated scattering cross section and left-right asymmetry for $μ^+ e^- \to μ^+ e^-$ and $μ^+ μ^+ \to μ^+ μ^+$ processes which could be probed at $μ$TRISTAN experiment further enlightening the interaction between $Z^\prime$ and charged leptons and the $U(1)_X$ breaking scale.

These special points of $SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$ moduli space are statistically favored in flux compactifications of Type IIB string theory. Neutrino masses are approximately obtained by using the seesaw mechanism due to our two additional symmetries. We perform chi square numerical analysis for each of the fixed/special points in the normal and inverted hierarchies and demonstrate predictions for each case. Then, we briefly discuss the possible signature of hidden gauge bosons at collider experiments from the hidden $SU(2)$ symmetry.

The anti-de Sitter curvature of the RS space also affects the relationship among the gauge couplings and the ratio of $m_W$ to the $Z$ boson mass $m_Z$. The $W$ couplings of leptons and quarks also change. With the given KK mass scale $m_{\rm KK}$ the range of the Aharonov-Bohm phase $θ_H$ in the fifth dimension is constrained. For $m_{\rm KK} = 13\,$TeV, $0.085 \lesssim θ_H \lesssim 0.11$ and $80.381\,{\rm GeV} \lesssim m_W \lesssim 80.407\,{\rm GeV}$. The predicted value of $m_W$ for $13\, {\rm TeV} \le m_{\rm KK} \le 20\, {\rm TeV}$ lies between $m_W^{\rm SM} = 80.354 \pm 0.007\,$GeV in the standard model and $m_W^{\rm CDF} = 80.4335 \pm 0.0094\,$GeV, the value reported by the CDF collaboration in 2022.

The origin of tiny neutrino mass is an unsolved puzzle leading to a variety of phenomenological aspects beyond the Standard Model (BSM). Among several interesting attempts, $U(1)$ gauge extension of Standard Model (SM) is a simple and interesting set-up where the so-called seesaw mechanism is incarnated by the addition of three generations of right-handed neutrinos followed by the breaking of $U(1)$ and electroweak symmetries. Such scenarios are anomaly free in nature appearing with a neutral BSM gauge boson ($Z^\prime$). In addition to that, there comes another open question regarding the existence of a non-luminous, hitherto unidentified object called Dark Matter (DM) originating from the measurement of its relic density. To explore properties of $Z^\prime$, we focus on chiral and flavored scenarios where $Z^\prime-$neutrinos interaction could be probed in the context of cosmic explosions like gamma-ray burst (GRB221009A, so far the highest energy), blazar (TXS 0506+056) and Active galaxy (NGC1068) respectively. The neutrino antineutrino annihilation produces electron-positron pair which could energize GRB through energy deposition. Taking the highest energy GRB under consideration and estimating the energy deposition rates we constrain $Z^\prime$ mass $(M_{Z^\prime})$ and the additional $U(1)$ coupling $(g_X)$ for chiral and flavored scenarios in the Schwarzchild, Hartle-Thorne and modified gravity frameworks. On the other hand, adding viable and alternative DM candidates in these models we study neutrino-DM scattering mediated by $Z^\prime$ in the $t-$ channel and estimate constraints on $g_X-M_{Z^\prime}$ plane using observed data of high energy neutrinos from cosmic blazar and active galaxy at the IceCube experiment. We compare our results with bounds obtained from different scattering, beam-dump and $g-2$ experiments.

This Review highlights the exciting advancements in the science of honeycomb layered frameworks with metallophilic bilayers that have recently garnered attention particularly due to reports of anomalous fractional valency states of silver cations sandwiched between transition metal slabs of other cations. First, the latest tactics and techniques including but not limited to X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) particularly necessary for characterising recent honeycomb layered frameworks with metallophilic bilayers are described, with emphasis on silver-based oxides. Second, new strategies and concepts related to topochemically- or temperature-induced cationic-deficient phases expanding the compositional space of honeycomb layered frameworks focused on cationic bilayer architectures are also accentuated. Third, the latest condensed matter theoretic advances towards a full, atomistic description of the bilayered structure in such frameworks are detailed, especially related to critical phenomena at the cusp of the monolayer-bilayer phase transition. This entails, in part, describing honeycomb layered frameworks as optimised lattices within the congruent sphere packing problem, equivalent to a particular two-dimensional (2D) conformal field theory. Altogether, it is hoped that this Review will give the reader a panoramic view of the honeycomb layered frameworks with important applications within the emerging field of quantum matter, potentially redefining their frontier. Thus, the scope of this Review is expected to be worthwhile for recent graduates and emerging experts alike not only in the materials science and chemistry community but also in other diverse fields of interest.

The $W$ and $Z$ couplings of zero-mode quarks and leptons slightly deviate from those in the SM, and the couplings take the matrix form in the space of Kaluza-Klein (KK) states. In particular, the 4D couplings and mass spectra in the KK states depend on the Aharonov-Bohm phase $ θ_H$ in the fifth dimension.
Nevertheless there emerge three astonishing sum rules among those coupling matrices, which guarantees the finiteness of certain combinations of corrections to vacuum polarization tensors. We confirm by numerical evaluation that the equality in the sum rules holds with 5 to 7 digits accuracy. Based on the sum rules we propose improved oblique parameters in GHU. Oblique corrections due to fermion 1-loop diagrams are found to be small.

We examine contributions to single Higgs boson production processes via $Z'$ and $W'$ bosons in the $SU(3)_C\times SO(5)_W\times U(1)_X$ gauge-Higgs unification (GHU) model. In particular, we analyze the cross sections of three single Higgs boson production processes $e^-e^+\to Zh$, $e^-e^+\to ν\barνh$, and $e^-e^+\to e^-e^+h$ in the SM and the GHU model. For the Higgs strahlung process $e^-e^+\to Zh$, we show that for a parameter region satisfying the current experimental constraints, a maximum deviation from the SM is about up to 6% for the center-of-mass energy of the initial electron and positron $\sqrt{s}=250$ GeV and that from the SM is about up to 20% for $\sqrt{s}=500$ GeV, depending on the initial polarization of electron and positron. The deviation from the SM is monotonically increasing with respect to $\sqrt{s}$ for $\sqrt{s}\lesssim 1$ TeV. By using the Higgs strahlung process, it is possible to explore up to the region of tens of TeV in terms of the Kaluza-Klein (KK) mass. We also show that the sign of the bulk mass of a lepton multiplet in the GHU model can be determined by examining the deviation of the left-right symmetry of the $e^-e^+\to Zh$ process from the SM. The contributions to the cross sections of the $e^-e^+\to ν\barνh$ and $e^-e^+\to e^-e^+h$ processes via the $Z'$ and $W'$ bosons are relatively small compared to that for $e^-e^+\to Zh$ at least for $\sqrt{s}\leq 1$ TeV. As is the same as in the SM, the $e^-e^+\toν\barνh$ process gives a main contribution to the single Higgs boson production processes for $\sqrt{s}\gtrsim 500$ GeV, but large deviations from the SM are only observed on energy scales close to the masses of the first KK gauge bosons or higher.

We find that deviations of differential cross sections in the GHU models from those in the SM can be seen at $\sqrt{s} = 250\,\mathrm{GeV}$. With $80\%$-longitudinally polarized electron and $30\%$-longitudinally polarized positron beams, the left-right asymmetries in the GHU A- and B-models are resolved at more than $3\,σ$ at $L_{\rm int} =250\,\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$. We also show that Bhabha scattering with scattering angle less than 100 mrad can be safely used as luminosity measurements in $\mathrm{e}^{+}\mathrm{e}^{-}$ colliders since the effects of $Z'$ bosons are well suppressed for small scattering angle. We propose a new observable which can be measured at future TeV-scale $\mathrm{e}^{+} \mathrm{e}^{-}$ linear colliders.

Potassium-ion ($\rm K$-ion) rechargeable batteries; considered to be lucrative low-cost battery options for large-scale and capacious energy storage systems, have been garnering tremendous attention in recent years. However, due to the scarcity of cathode materials that can condone the reversible re-insertion of the large $\rm K$-ions at feasible capacities, the viability of $\rm K$-ion batteries has been greatly undercut. In this paper, we explore a potential cathode material in the $\rm K_2O$-$\rm Fe_2O_3$-$\rm MnO_2$ ternary phase system, that not only demonstrates reversible $\rm K$-ion reinsertion but also manifests relatively fast rate capabilities. The titled cathode compound, $\rm K_{0.4}Fe_{0.5}Mn_{0.5}O_2$, demonstrates a reversible capacity of approximately $\rm120 $ mAh g$^{-1}$ at $\rm 10$ hours of (dis)charge ($viz.$, $\rm C/10$ rate) with $ca.$ $\rm 85$% of the capacity being retained at a $\rm 1$ hour of (dis)charge ($\rm 1 C$ rate) which is considered to be good capacity retention. Additionally, both hard and soft X-rays have been employed to unravel the mechanism by which $\rm K$-ion is reversibly inserted into $\rm K_{0.4}Fe_{0.5}Mn_{0.5}O_2$. The results revealed a cumulative participation of both manganese cations and oxygen anions in $\rm K_{0.4}Fe_{0.5}Mn_{0.5}O_2$ illustrating its potential as a high-capacity $\rm K$-ion battery cathode material that relies on both anion and cation redox. Further development of related high-capacity cathode compositions can be anticipated.

We analyze $SU(2)$ GHU with an $SU(2)$ doublet fermion in flat $M^4 \times (S^1/Z_2)$ spacetime and in the Randall-Sundrum (RS) warped space. With orbifold boundary conditions the $U(1)$ part of gauge symmetry remains unbroken at $θ_H = 0$ and $π$. The fermion multiplet has chiral zero modes at $θ_H = 0$, which become massive at $θ_H = π$. In other words chiral fermions are transformed to vectorlike fermions by the AB phase $θ_H$. Chiral anomaly at $θ_H = 0$ continuously varies as $θ_H$ and vanishes at $θ_H=π$. We demonstrate this intriguing phenomenon in the RS space in which there occurs no level crossing in the mass spectrum and everything varies smoothly. The flat spacetime limit is singular as the AdS curvature of the RS space diminishes, and reproduces the result in the flat spacetime. Anomalies appear for various combinations of Kaluza-Klein excitation modes of gauge fields as well. Although the magnitude of anomalies depends on $θ_{H}$ and the warp factor of the RS space, it does not depend on the bulk mass parameter of the fermion field controlling its mass and wave function at general $θ_H$.

Meanwhile, the global material not only displays high ionic conductivity, but also manifests oxygen-hole electrochemistry during silver-ion extraction. Within the $\rm Ag$-rich domains, the bilayered structure, argentophilic interactions therein and the expected $\rm Ag$ sub-valent states ($1/2+, 2/3+, \textit{etc}.$) are theoretically understood via spontaneous symmetry breaking of SU($2$)$\times$U($1$) gauge symmetry interactions amongst $3$ degenerate mass-less chiral fermion states, justified by electron occupancy of silver $4d_{z^2}$ and $5s$ orbitals on a bifurcated honeycomb lattice. This implies that bilayered frameworks have research applications that go beyond the confines of energy storage.

Abstract:
We propose a new mechanism of stabilization for dark matter under fixed points of modular $A_4$ symmetry, thanks to recovering a residual symmetry for each of fixed points at $τ=ω,\ i, i\times\infty$. We find that a model at $τ=i$ successfully reproduces the neutrino oscillation data without conflict of the DM stability.

Abstract:
We propose a quark-lepton model via leptoquarks and modular $A_4$ symmetry. Since the neutrino mass is induced at one-loop level mediated by down quarks as well as leptoquarks, we have to explain lepton and quark masses and mixings with a single modulus $τ$. Here, we find predictions for lepton and quark sectors with unified modulus $τ$, and show several constraints originating from leptoquarks.

The electroweak phase transition in GUT inspired $SO(5)\times U(1) \times SU(3)$ gauge-Higgs unification is shown to be weakly first order and occurs at $T = T_c^{\rm EW} \sim 163\,$GeV, which is very similar to the behavior in the standard model in perturbation theory. A new phase appears at higher temperatures. $SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y$ ($θ_H=0$) and $SU(2)_R \times U(1)_{Y'}$ ($θ_H=π$) phases become almost degenerate above $T \sim m_{\rm KK}$ where $m_{\rm KK}$ is the Kaluza-Klein mass scale typically around 13$\,$TeV and $θ_H$ is the Aharonov-Bohm phase along the fifth dimension. The two phases become degenerate at $T = T_c^{\rm LR} \sim m_{\rm KK}$. As the temperature drops in the evolution of the early Universe the $SU(2)_R \times U(1)_{Y'}$ phase becomes unstable. The tunneling rate from the $SU(2)_R \times U(1)_{Y'}$ phase to the $SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y$ phase becomes sizable and a first-order phase transition takes place at $T=2.5 \sim 2.6\,$TeV. The amount of gravitational waves produced in this left-right phase transition is small, far below the reach of the sensitivity of Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA). A detailed analysis of the $SU(2)_R \times U(1)_{Y'}$ phase is also given. It is shown that the $W$ boson, $Z$ boson and photon, with $θ_H$ varying from 0 to $π$, are transformed to gauge bosons in the $SU(2)_R \times U(1)_{Y'}$ phase. Gauge couplings and wave functions of quarks, leptons and dark fermions in the $SU(2)_R \times U(1)_{Y'}$ phase are determined.

The $Z'$ bosons in the GHU couple to quarks and leptons with large parity violation, which leads to distinctive polarization dependence in, e.g., cross sections and forward-backward asymmetries in $e^-e^+\toμ^-μ^+,q\bar{q}$ processes. In the talk, we discuss fermion pair production in $e^-e^+$ linear collider experiments with polarized $e^-$ and $e^+$ beams in the GUT inspired GHU. Deviations from the SM are shown in the early stage of planned international linear collider (ILC) with 250 GeV experiments. The deviations can be tested for the KK mass scale up to about 15 TeV. It is realized by a non-universal $U(1)_{B-L}$ charge assignment on the right handed neutrinos and one of them becomes DM. The dark matter mass becomes generally small compared with the typical mass of the Weak Interacting Massive Particles and we have milder constraints on the dark matter. We consider the case where the dark matter is produced through the freeze-in mechanism and show that the observed dark matter relic density can be realized consistently with the current experimental constraints on the neutrino masses and the lepton flavor structure.

A challenge with this material has been that the capacity of the battery fades with cycling, an effect that can be traced to the presence of an anti-ferromagnetic insulator phase in the fully lithiated LiMn$_2$O$_4$ (LMO) and the associated charge disproportionation that drives distortions of the MnO$_6$ octahedra. Here, by combining x-ray magnetic Compton scattering experiments with parallel first-principles computations, we show that the anti-ferromagnetic phase of LMO is surrounded by a robust ferrimagnetic metallic phase, which becomes stable when even a small amount of Li is removed from or added to the charge-ordered LMO. In this surprising ferrimagnetic state, charge-ordering and octahedral distortions are found to be strongly suppressed. We identify the nature of the ferrimagnetic orbitals involved through theoretical and experimental analyses of the magnetic Compton scattering spectra.

The CKM matrix is reproduced except that the up quark mass needs to be larger than the observed one. FCNC's are naturally suppressed as a consequence of the gauge invariance, with a factor of order $10^{-6}$. It is also shown that induced flavor-changing Yukawa couplings are extremely small.

The tree-level mass matrix is forbidden by well-assigned modular weights, which also play an important role in stabilizing dark matter candidate due to a remnant $Z_2$ symmetry even after breaking the modular symmetry. Supposing three families of the Majorana neutrinos, right-handed charged-leptons and left-handed charged-leptons to be embedded respectively into singlet, doublet, and triplet under $S_4$, we obtain the predictive mass matrices in the normal hierarchy. Then, we show our numerical results such as phases, mixings, and neutrino masses, applying $χ^2$ analysis. We also demonstrate two sample points, imposing on minimizing $χ^2$ and best fit value of $δ_{CP}^\ell$ of $195^\circ$.

For decay rates we find $Γ(W'\to WH) \simeq Γ(W'\to WZ)$ ($W'=W^{(1)}$, $W_R^{(1)}$), $Γ(W^{(1)}\to WH,WZ) \simΓ(W_R^{(1)}\to WH,WZ)$, $Γ(Z^{(1)}\to ZH) \simeq\sum_{Z'=Z^{(1)},γ^{(1)}}Γ(Z'\to WW)$, and $Γ(Z_R^{(1)}\to ZH) \simeq Γ(Z_R^{(1)}\to WW)$. $W'$ and $Z'$ signals of GHU can be best found at the LHC experiment in the processes $pp\to W' (Z')+X$ followed by $W'\to t\bar{b}$, $WH$, and $Z'\to e^+ e^-$, $μ^+μ^-, ZH$. For the lighter $Z'$ ($θ_H = 0.115$) case, with forthcoming 30 fb$^{-1}$ data of the 13 TeV LHC experiment we expect about ten $μ^+μ^-$ events for the invariant mass range 3 to 7 TeV, though the number of the events becomes much smaller when $θ_H=0.0737$. In the process with $WZ$ in the final state, it is confirmed that the unitarity is preserved, provided that all KK excited intermediate states are taken into account. Deviation of the $WWZ$ coupling from the SM is very tiny. Exotic partners $t_T^{(1)}$ and $b_Y^{(1)}$ of the top and bottom quarks with electric charge $+5/3$ and $-4/3$ have mass $M_{t_T^{(1)},b_Y^{(1)}}\simeq 4-5$ TeV, becoming the lightest non-SM particles in GHU which can be singly produced in collider experiments.

We discuss how x-ray Compton scattering spectra can be used for investigating the evolution of electronic states in cathode materials of Li batteries under the lithiation/delithiation process. In particular, our analysis of the Compton spectra taken from polycrystalline LixCoO2 samples shows that the spectra are dominated by the contribution of the O-2p redox orbital. We identify a distinct signature of d-orbital delocalization, which is tied directly to the conductivity of the material, providing a descriptor based on Compton spectra for monitoring the lithiation range with improved conductivity and kinetics for electrochemical operation. Our study demonstrates that Compton scattering spectroscopy can provide a window for probing complex electronic mechanisms underlying the charging and discharging processes in Li-battery materials.

Then sizable muon $g-2$ and $\sim 1 \%$ of $BR(h \to μτ)$ could be obtained in our set up. Furthermore, the collider signature of the septet is discussed where we focus on quadratically charged scalar at the LHC 14 TeV. We find that it could be discovered up to $1.5$ TeV mass by searching multi charged lepton signal events.

We investigate the phenomenology of a model based on the $SU(3)_c\times SU(3)_L\times U(1)_X$ gauge theory, the so-called 331 model. In particular, we focus on the Higgs sector of the model which is composed of three $SU(3)_L$ triplet Higgs fields, and this corresponds to the minimal form to realize phenomenologically acceptable scenario. After the spontaneous symmetry breaking $SU(3)_L\times U(1)_X\to SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y$, our Higgs sector effectively becomes that with two $SU(2)_L$ doublet scalar fields, in which the first and the second generation quarks couple to the different Higgs doublet from that couples to the third generation quarks. This structure causes the flavour changing neutral current mediated by Higgs bosons at the tree level. By taking an alignment limit of the mass matrix for the CP-even Higgs bosons, which is naturally realized in the case with the breaking scale of $SU(3)_L\times U(1)_X$ to be much larger than that of $SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y$, we can avoid current constraints from flavour experiments such as the $B^0$-$\bar{B}^0$ mixing even for the Higgs bosons masses being ${\cal O}(100)$ GeV. In this allowed parameter space, we clarify that a characteristic deviation in quark Yukawa couplings of the standard model-like Higgs boson is predicted, which has a different pattern from that seen in two Higgs doublet models with a softly-broken $Z_2$ symmetry. We also find that the flavour violating decay modes of the extra Higgs boson, e.g., $H/A \to tc$ and $H^\pm \to ts$ can be dominant, and they yield the important signature to distinguish our model from the two Higgs doublet models.

In this paper the nearly degenerate Majorana fermion dark matter can naturally be achieved at the two loop level, while the mass splitting can be larger than ${\cal O}$(200) keV which is required from the constraint of the direct detection search with spin independent inelastic scattering through $Z$ boson portal. As a result a monochromatic photon excess, its threshold energy is greater than ${\cal O}$(200) keV, is predicted in our model that could be measured through indirect detection experiments such as INTEGRAL.

By allowing the hypercharges larger than 3/2 for new fields that contribute to the neutrino masses and making them decay into the standard model fields appropriately, we introduce a lot of new particles with multiple electrical charges in a natural manner. As a by-product, we can accommodate the 750 GeV diphoton excess depending on the hypercharge quantum numbers of new fields responsible for the neutrino masses at the three loop level.

Non-destructive determination of lithium distribution in a working battery is key for addressing both efficiency and safety issues. Although various techniques have been developed to map the lithium distribution in electrodes, these methods are mostly applicable to test cells. Here we propose the use of high-energy x-ray Compton scattering spectroscopy to measure the local lithium concentration in closed electrochemical cells. A combination of experimental measurements and parallel first-principles computations is used to show that the shape parameter S of the Compton profile is linearly proportional to lithium concentration and thus provides a viable descriptor for this important quantity. The merits and applicability of our method are demonstrated with illustrative examples of LixMn2O4 cathodes and a working commercial lithium coin battery CR2032.

We investigate a possibility for explaining the recently announced 750\,GeV diphoton excess by the ATLAS and the CMS experiments at the CERN LHC in a model with multiple doubly charged particles, which was originally suggested for explaining tiny neutrino masses through a three-loop effect in a natural way. The enhanced radiatively generated effective coupling of a new singlet scalar $S$ with diphoton with multiple charged particles in the loop enlarges the production rate of $S$ in $pp\to S+X$ via photon fusion process and also the decay width $Γ(S\to γγ)$ even without assuming a tree level production mechanism. We provide detailed analysis on the cases with or without allowing the mixing between $S$ and the standard model Higgs doublet.

Many experiments exploring weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) such as direct, indirect and collider searches have been carried out until now. However, a clear signal of a WIMP has not been found yet and it makes us to suspect that WIMPs are questionable as a dark matter candidate. Taking into account this situation, we propose two models in which dark matter relic density is produced by decay of a metastable particle. In the first model, the metastable particle is a feebly interacting massive particle, which is the so-called FIMP produced by freeze-in mechanism in the early universe. In the second model, the decaying particle is thermally produced the same as the usual WIMP. However decay of the particle into dark matter is led by a higher dimensional operator. As a phenomenologically interesting feature of nonthermal dark matter discussed in this paper, a strong sharp gamma-ray emission as an indirect detection signal occurs due to internal bremsstrahlung, although some parameter space has already been ruled out by this process. Moreover combining other experimental and theoretical constraints such as dark matter relic density, big bang nucleosynthesis, collider, gamma-rays and perturbativity of couplings, we discuss the two nonthermal DM models.

We discuss an extension of the minimal Higgs triplet model with a classically conformal invariance and with a gauged $U(1)_{B-L}$ symmetry. In our scenario, tiny masses of neutrinos are generated by a hybrid contribution from the type-I and type-II seesaw mechanisms. The shape of the Higgs potential at low energies is determined by solving one-loop renormalization group equations for all the scalar quartic couplings with a set of initial values of parameters at the Planck scale. We find a successful set of the parameters in which the $U(1)_{B-L}$ symmetry is radiatively broken via the Coleman-Weinberg mechanism at the ${\cal O}$(10) TeV scale, and the electroweak symmetry breaking is also triggered by the $U(1)_{B-L}$ breaking. Under this configuration, we can predict various low energy observables such as the mass spectrum of extra Higgs bosons, and the mixing angles. Furthermore, using these predicted mass parameters, we obtain upper limits on Yukawa couplings among an isospin triplet Higgs field and lepton doublets from lepton flavor violation data.

Classical scale invariance (CSI) may be one of the solutions for the hierarchy problem. Realistic models for electroweak symmetry breaking based on CSI require extended scalar sectors without mass terms, and the electroweak symmetry is broken dynamically at the quantum level by the Coleman-Weinberg mechanism. We discuss discriminative features of these models. First, using the experimental value of the mass of the discovered Higgs boson $h(125)$, we obtain an upper bound on the mass of the lightest additional scalar boson (~543 GeV), which does not depend on its isospin and hypercharge. Second, a discriminative prediction on the Higgs-photon-photon coupling is given as a function of the number of charged scalar bosons, by which we can narrow down possible models using current and future data for the di-photon decay of $h(125)$. Finally, for the triple Higgs boson coupling a large deviation (~ +70 %) from the SM prediction is universally predicted, which is independent of masses, quantum numbers and even the number of additional scalars. These models based on CSI can be well tested at LHC Run II and at future lepton colliders.
