This paper reports on a measurement of electron-ion recombination in liquid argon in the ICARUS liquid argon time projection chamber (LArTPC). A clear dependence of recombination on the angle of the ionizing particle track relative to the drift electric field is observed. An ellipsoid modified box (EMB) model of recombination describes the data across all measured angles. These measurements are used for the calorimetric energy scale calibration of the ICARUS TPC, which is also presented. The impact of the EMB model is studied on calorimetric particle identification, as well as muon and proton energy measurements. Accounting for the angular dependence in EMB recombination improves the accuracy and precision of these measurements.

The ICARUS liquid argon time projection chamber (LArTPC) neutrino detector has been taking physics data since 2022 as part of the Short-Baseline Neutrino (SBN) Program. This paper details the equalization of the response to charge in the ICARUS time projection chamber (TPC), as well as data-driven tuning of the simulation of ionization charge signals and electronics noise. The equalization procedure removes non-uniformities in the ICARUS TPC response to charge in space and time. This work leverages the copious number of cosmic ray muons available to ICARUS at the surface. The ionization signal shape simulation applies a novel procedure that tunes the simulation to match what is measured in data. The end result of the equalization procedure and simulation tuning allows for a comparison of charge measurements in ICARUS between Monte Carlo simulation and data, showing good performance with minimal residual bias between the two.

Over one in five adults in the US lives with a mental illness. In the face of a shortage of mental health professionals and offline resources, online short-form video content has grown to serve as a crucial conduit for disseminating mental health help and resources. However, the ease of content creation and access also contributes to the spread of misinformation, posing risks to accurate diagnosis and treatment. Detecting and understanding engagement with such content is crucial to mitigating their harmful effects on public health. We perform the first quantitative study of the phenomenon using YouTube Shorts and Bitchute as the sites of study. We contribute MentalMisinfo, a novel labeled mental health misinformation (MHMisinfo) dataset of 739 videos (639 from Youtube and 100 from Bitchute) and 135372 comments in total, using an expert-driven annotation schema. We first found that few-shot in-context learning with large language models (LLMs) are effective in detecting MHMisinfo videos. Next, we discover distinct and potentially alarming linguistic patterns in how audiences engage with MHMisinfo videos through commentary on both video-sharing platforms. Across the two platforms, comments could exacerbate prevailing stigma with some groups showing heightened susceptibility to and alignment with MHMisinfo. We discuss technical and public health-driven adaptive solutions to tackling the "epidemic" of mental health misinformation online.

SBND is the near detector of the Short-Baseline Neutrino program at Fermilab. Its location near to the Booster Neutrino Beam source and relatively large mass will allow the study of neutrino interactions on argon with unprecedented statistics. This paper describes the expected performance of the SBND photon detection system, using a simulated sample of beam neutrinos and cosmogenic particles. Its design is a dual readout concept combining a system of 120 photomultiplier tubes, used for triggering, with a system of 192 X-ARAPUCA devices, located behind the anode wire planes. Furthermore, covering the cathode plane with highly-reflective panels coated with a wavelength-shifting compound recovers part of the light emitted towards the cathode, where no optical detectors exist. We show how this new design provides a high light yield and a more uniform detection efficiency, an excellent timing resolution and an independent 3D-position reconstruction using only the scintillation light. Finally, the whole reconstruction chain is applied to recover the temporal structure of the beam spill, which is resolved with a resolution on the order of nanoseconds.

Despite the ever-strong demand for mental health care globally, access to traditional mental health services remains severely limited expensive, and stifled by stigma and systemic barriers. Thus, over the last few years, young people are increasingly turning to content on video-sharing platforms (VSPs) like TikTok and YouTube to help them navigate their mental health journey. However, navigating towards trustworthy information relating to mental health on these platforms is challenging, given the uncontrollable and unregulated growth of dedicated mental health content and content creators catering to a wide array of mental health conditions on these platforms. In this paper, we attempt to define what constitutes as "mental health misinformation" through examples. In addition, we also suggest some open questions to answer and challenges to tackle regarding this important and timely research topic

We establish exact sequences involving direct sums of the components of $A$ and express the images of the maps of these sequences as homologies of iterated mapping cones built on $K$. As an application of this iterated mapping cone construction, we recover a minimal free resolution of the residue field $\mathsf k$ over $R$, independent from the well-known resolution constructed by Tate by adjoining variables and killing cycles. Through our construction, the differential maps can be expressed explicitly as blocks of matrices, arranged in some combinatorial patterns.

We introduce the notion of quantum-symmetric equivalence of two connected graded algebras, based on Morita-Takeuchi equivalences of their universal quantum groups, in the sense of Manin. We study homological and algebraic invariants of quantum-symmetric equivalence classes, and prove that numerical $\mathrm{Tor}$-regularity, Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity, Artin-Schelter regularity, and the Frobenius property are invariant under any Morita-Takeuchi equivalence. In particular, by combining our results with the work of Raedschelders and Van den Bergh, we prove that Koszul Artin-Schelter regular algebras of a fixed global dimension form a single quantum-symmetric equivalence class. Moreover, we characterize 2-cocycle twists (which arise as a special case of quantum-symmetric equivalence) of Koszul duals, of superpotentials, of superpotential algebras, of Nakayama automorphisms of twisted Frobenius algebras, and of Artin-Schelter regular algebras. We also show that finite generation of Hochschild cohomology rings is preserved under certain 2-cocycle twists.

Kauffman and Radford have shown that $D_n$ has a ribbon element if and only if $n$ is odd, and the ribbon element is unique; however there has been no explicit description of this element. In this work, we determine the ribbon element of $D_n$ explicitly. For any $n \geq 2$, we use the R-matrix of $D_n$ to construct an action of the Temperley-Lieb algebra $\mathsf{TL}_k(ξ)$ with $ξ= -(q^{\frac{1}{2}}+q^{-\frac{1}{2}})$ on the $k$-fold tensor power $V^{\otimes k}$ of any two-dimensional simple $D_n$-module $V$. This action is known to be faithful for arbitrary $k \geq 1$. We show that $\mathsf{TL}_k(ξ)$ is isomorphic to the centralizer algebra $\text{End}_{D_n}(V^{\otimes k})$ for $1 \le k \le 2n-2$.

This is the origin of the notion of Golod ring. Using the Koszul complex components he also constructed a minimal free resolution of the residue field. In this article, we extend this construction up to degree five for any local ring. We describe how the multiplicative structure and the triple Massey products of the homology of the Koszul algebra are involved in this construction. As a consequence, we provide explicit formulas for the first six terms of a sequence that measures how far the ring is from being Golod.

We prove results about the eigenvalues and the right and left (generalized) eigenvectors of $M_V$ by relating them to characters. We show how the projective McKay matrix $Q_V$ obtained by tensoring the projective indecomposable modules of $A$ with $V$ is related to the McKay matrix of the dual module of $V$. We illustrate these results for the Drinfeld double $D_n$ of the Taft algebra by deriving expressions for the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of $M_V$ and $Q_V$ in terms of several kinds of Chebyshev polynomials. For the matrix $N_V$ that encodes the fusion rules for tensoring $V$ with a basis of projective indecomposable $D_n$-modules for the image of the Cartan map, we show that the eigenvalues and eigenvectors also have such Chebyshev expressions.

In support variety theory, representations of a finite dimensional (Hopf) algebra $A$ can be studied geometrically by associating any representation of $A$ to an algebraic variety using the cohomology ring of $A$. An essential assumption in this theory is the finite generation condition for the cohomology ring of $A$ and that for the corresponding modules. In this paper, we introduce various approaches to study the finite generation condition. First, for any finite dimensional Hopf algebra $A$, we show that the finite generation condition on $A$-modules can be replaced by a condition on any affine commutative $A$-module algebra $R$ under the assumption that $R$ is integral over its invariant subring $R^A$. Next, we use a spectral sequence argument to show that a finite generation condition holds for certain filtered, smash and crossed product algebras in positive characteristic if the related spectral sequences collapse. Finally, if $A$ is defined over a number field over the rationals, we construct another finite dimensional Hopf algebra $A'$ over a finite field, where $A$ can be viewed as a deformation of $A'$, and prove that if the finite generation condition holds for $A'$, then the same condition holds for $A$.

We study which algebras have tilting modules that are both generated and cogenerated by projective-injective modules. Crawley-Boevey and Sauter have shown that Auslander algebras have such tilting modules; and for algebras of global dimension $2$, Auslander algebras are classified by the existence of such tilting modules.
In this paper, we show that the existence of such a tilting module is equivalent to the algebra having dominant dimension at least $2$, independent of its global dimension. In general such a tilting module is not necessarily cotilting. Here, we show that the algebras which have a tilting-cotilting module generated-cogenerated by projective-injective modules are precisely $1$-Auslander-Gorenstein algebras.
When considering such a tilting module, without the assumption that it is cotilting, we study the global dimension of its endomorphism algebra, and discuss a connection with the Finitistic Dimension Conjecture. Furthermore, as special cases, we show that triangular matrix algebras obtained from Auslander algebras and certain injective modules, have such a tilting module. We also give a description of which Nakayama algebras have such a tilting module.

We classify pointed $p^3$-dimensional Hopf algebras $H$ over any algebraically closed field $k$ of prime characteristic $p>0$. In particular, we focus on the cases when the group $G(H)$ of group-like elements is of order $p$ or $p^2$, that is, when $H$ is pointed but is not connected nor a group algebra. This work provides many new examples of (parametrized) non-commutative and non-cocommutative finite-dimensional Hopf algebras in positive characteristic.

For finite-dimensional Hopf algebras, their classification in characteristic $0$ (e.g. over $\mathbb{C}$) has been investigated for decades with many fruitful results, but their structures in positive characteristic have remained elusive. In this paper, working over an algebraically closed field $\mathbf{k}$ of prime characteristic $p$, we introduce the concept, called Primitive Deformation, to provide a structured technique to classify certain finite-dimensional connected Hopf algebras which are almost primitively generated; that is, these connected Hopf algebras are $p^{n+1}$-dimensional, whose primitive spaces are abelian restricted Lie algebras of dimension $n$. We illustrate this technique for the case $n=2$. Together with our preceding results in arXiv:1309.0286, we provide a complete classification of $p^3$-dimensional connected Hopf algebras over $\mathbf{k}$ of characteristic $p>2$.

Finite generation of the cohomology of some skew group algebras
Authors:

Abstract:
We prove that some skew group algebras have Noetherian cohomology rings, a property inherited from their component parts. The proof is an adaptation of Evens' proof of finite generation of group cohomology. We apply the result to a series of examples of finite dimensional Hopf algebras in positive characteristic.

However, we also construct $A$-modules which have finitely generated Tate cohomology. It turns out that if a module in a connected component of the stable Auslander-Reiten quiver associated to $A$ has finitely generated Tate cohomology, then so does every module in that component. We apply some of these finite generation results on Tate cohomology to an algebra defined by Radford and to the restricted universal enveloping algebra of $sl_2(k)$.

Each isomorphism class is presented by generators $x, y, z$ with relations and Hopf algebra structures. Let $μ$ be the multiplicative group of $(p^2+p-1)$-th roots of unity. When the primitive space is one-dimensional and $p$ is odd, there is an infinite family of isomorphism classes, which is naturally parameterized by $A_{k}^1/μ$.

We establish the relationship between these rings. In particular, the Tate-Hochschild cohomology of A is isomorphic (as algebras) to its Tate cohomology with coefficients in an adjoint module. Consequently, the Tate cohomology ring of A is a direct summand of its Tate-Hochschild cohomology ring. As an example, we explicitly compute both the Tate and Tate-Hochschild cohomology for the Sweedler algebra H_4.

We investigate the emission of electromagnetic waves from biaxial subwavelength metamaterials. For tunable anisotropic structures that exhibit a vanishing dielectric response along a given axis, we find remarkable variation in the launch angles of energy associated with the emission of leaky wave radiation. We write closed form expressions for the energy transport velocity and corresponding radiation angle $φ$, defining the cone of radiation emission, both as a functions of frequency, and material and geometrical parameters. Full wave simulations exemplify the broad range of directivity that can be achieved in these structures.

In this report, we achieved total transmission and reflection in a slab of zero index materials with defect(s). By controlling the defect's radius and dielectric constant, we can obtain total transmission and reflection of EM wave. The zero index materials, in this report, stand for materials with permittivity and permeability which are simultaneously equal to zero or so called matched impedance zero index materials. Along with theoretical calculations and simulation demonstrations, we also discuss about some possible applications for the proposed structure such as shielding or cloaking an object without restricting its view. We also suggest a way to control total transmission and reflection actively by using tunable refractive index materials such as liquid crystal and BST. The physics behind those phenomena is attributed to intrinsic properties of zero index materials: constant field inside zero index slab.
