Gorenstein-Fano polytopes and compactifications of rank 2 polyptych lattices
Abstract: The notion of polyptych lattices, introduced by Escobar, Harada, and Manon, wraps the data of a collection of lattices related by piecewise-linear bijections together into a single semi-algebraic object, equipped with its own notions of convexity and polyhedra. The main purpose of this manuscript is to construct an explicit family of polyptych lattices, and to illustrate via explicit computations… ▽ More

Geometric families of degenerations from mutations of polytopes
Abstract: We introduce the notion of a polyptych lattice, which encodes a collection of lattices related by piecewise linear bijections. We initiate a study of the new theory of convex geometry and polytopes associated to polyptych lattices. In certain situations, such a polytope associated to a polyptych lattice encodes a compactification of an affine variety whose coordinate ring can be equipped with a va… ▽ More

Tropical vector bundles and matroids
Abstract: We introduce a notion of tropical vector bundle on a tropical toric variety which is a tropical analogue of a torus equivariant vector bundle on a toric variety. The $m-$dissimilarity map and representation theory of $SL_m$
Abstract: We give another proof that $m$-dissimilarity vectors of weighted trees are points on the tropical Grassmanian, as conjectured by Cools, and proved by Giraldo in response to a question of Sturmfels and Pachter. We accomplish this by relating $m$-dissimilarity vectors to the representation theory of $SL_m.$

The Algebra of Conformal Blocks
Abstract: For each simply connected, simple complex group $G$ we show that the direct sum of all vector bundles of conformal blocks on the moduli stack $\bar{\mathcal{M}}_{g, n}$ of stable marked curves carries the structure of a flat sheaf of commutative algebras. The fiber of this sheaf over a smooth marked curve $(C, \vec{p})$ agrees with the Cox ring of the moduli of quasi-parabolic principal $G-$bundle… ▽ More

Gorenstein Semigroup Algebras of Weighted Trees
Abstract: We classify exactly when the toric algebras $\C[S_{\tree}(\br)]$ are Gorenstein. These algebras arise as toric deformations of algebras of invariants of the Cox-Nagata ring of the blow-up of $n-1$ points on $\mathbb{P}^{n-3}$, or equivalently algebras of the ring of global sections for the Plücker embedding of weight varieties of the Grassmanian $Gr_2(\C^n)$, and algebras of global sections for em… ▽ More

The Toric Geometry of Triangulated Polygons in Euclidean Space
Abstract: Speyer and Sturmfels [SpSt] associated Gröbner toric degenerations $\mathrm{Gr}_2(\C^n)^{\tree}$ of $\mathrm{Gr}_2(\C^n)$ to each trivalent tree $\tree$ with $n$ leaves. These degenerations induce toric degenerations $M_{\br}^{\tree}$ of $M_{\br}$, the space of $n$ ordered, weighted (by $\br$) points on the projective line. Our goal in this paper is to give a geometric (Euclidean polygon) descri… ▽ More

Presentations of Semigroup Algebras of Weighted Trees
Abstract: We find presentations for subalgebras of invariants of the coordinate algebras of binary symmetric models of phylogenetic trees studied by Buczynska and Wisniewski in \cite{BW}. These algebras arise as toric degenerations of rings of global sections of weight varieties of the Grassmanian of two planes associated to the Plücker embedding, and as toric degenerations of rings of invariants of Cox-N… ▽ More
