Douglas's theorem on symbol map states that there exists a $C^*$-algebra homomorphism from $\mathscr{T}(L^{\infty}(\mathbb{T}))$ onto $L^{\infty}(\mathbb{T})$ such that $T_φ\mapsto φ$ and the kernel of the homomorphism coincides with commutator ideal in $\mathscr{T}(L^{\infty}(\mathbb{T}))$. In this paper, we use the Berezin transform to study results akin to Douglas's theorem for operators on the Hardy space $H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$ over the open unit polydisc $\mathbb{D}^n$ for $n\geq 1$. We further obtain a class of bigger $C^*$-algebras than the Toeplitz algebra $\mathscr{T}(L^{\infty}(\mathbb{T}^n))$ for which the analog of symbol map still holds true.

In this paper we study $U(N)$ colored HOMFLY-PT polynomials of torus links in the double scaling limit (polynomial variable $q\rightarrow 1$, $N\rightarrow \infty$ keeping $q^N$ fixed). We show that, in this limit, the colored HOMFLY-PT polynomial of any $(Lα,Lβ)$ torus link can be expressed in terms of the colored HOMFLY-PT polynomial of $(L,L)$ torus link. Using the connection between matrix models and the Chern-Simons field theoretic invariants, we show that the colored torus link invariants are uniquely expressed in terms of connected correlation functions of operators in $U(N)$ matrix model. We determine the leading and subleading contribution to some of the correlators at large $N$ from the matrix model approach and find that they match exactly with those obtained from the corresponding colored HOMFLY-PT polynomials.

We prove that each $n$-tuple of isometries with equal range admits a unique Wold decomposition. We obtain analytic models of the above class, and as a consequence, we show that the wandering data are complete unitary invariants for $n$-tuples of isometries with equal range. Our results unify all prior findings on the decomposition for tuples of isometries in the existing literature.

Oral diseases such as periodontal (gum) diseases and dental caries (cavities) affect billions of people across the world today. However, previous state-of-the-art models have relied on X-ray images to detect oral diseases, making them inaccessible to remote monitoring, developing countries, and telemedicine. To combat this overuse of X-ray imagery, we propose a lightweight machine learning model capable of detecting calculus (also known as hardened plaque or tartar) in RGB images while running efficiently on low-end devices. The model, a modified MobileNetV3-Small neural network transfer learned from ImageNet, achieved an accuracy of 72.73% (which is comparable to state-of-the-art solutions) while still being able to run on mobile devices due to its reduced memory requirements and processing times. A ResNet34-based model was also constructed and achieved an accuracy of 81.82%. Both of these models were tested on a mobile app, demonstrating their potential to limit the number of serious oral disease cases as their predictions can help patients schedule appointments earlier without the need to go to the clinic.

We show that the Taub-NUT geometry can be realised as a coherent state, or more appropriately as a Glauber-Sudarshan state in M-theory, once we take the underlying resurgence structure carefully. Using the duality chain it in turn implies that all D-branes as well as NS5-branes can be realised as Glauber-Sudarshan states in string theory. Our analysis also leads to an intriguing possibility of realizing the gravity duals of certain non-conformal minimally-supersymmetric gauge theories by deforming a class of Glauber-Sudarshan states.

Morphogenesis involves the transformation of initially simple shapes, such as multicellular spheroids, into more complex $3D$ shapes. These shape changes are governed by mechanical forces including molecular motor-generated forces as well as hydrostatic fluid pressure, both of which are actively regulated in living matter through mechano-chemical feedback. Inspired by autonomous, biophysical shape change, such as occurring in the model organism hydra, we introduce a minimal, active, elastic model featuring a network of springs in a globe-like spherical shell geometry. In this model there is coupling between activity and the shape of the shell: if the local curvature of a filament represented by a spring falls below a critical value, its elastic constant is actively changed. This results in deformation of the springs that changes the shape of the shell. By combining excitation of springs and pressure regulation, we show that the shell undergoes a transition from spheroidal to either elongated ellipsoidal or a different spheroidal shape, depending on pressure. There exists a critical pressure at which there is an abrupt change from ellipsoids to spheroids, showing that pressure is potentially a sensitive switch for material shape. More complex shapes, involving loss of cylindrical symmetry, can arise when springs are excited both above (spring constants increase) and below (spring constants decrease) the curvature threshold. We thus offer biologically inspired design principles for autonomous shape transitions in active elastic shells.

In this note, we argue that a four-dimensional de Sitter space can still exist in SO(32) heterotic string theory as a Glauber-Sudarshan state, i.e. as a coherent state, over a supersymmetric Minkowski background, albeit within a finite temporal domain. Borel resummation and resurgence play a crucial role in constructing such a state in the Hilbert space of heterotic theory governed entirely by the IR degrees of freedom.

BSSwF's vision is to grow the community with practitioners, leaders, mentors, and consultants to increase the visibility of scientific software production and sustainability. Over the last five years, many fellowship recipients and honorable mentions have identified as research software engineers (RSEs). This paper provides case studies from several of the program's participants to illustrate some of the diverse ways BSSwF has benefited both the RSE and scientific communities. In an environment where the contributions of RSEs are too often undervalued, we believe that programs such as BSSwF can be a valuable means to recognize and encourage community members to step outside of their regular commitments and expand on their work, collaborations and ideas for a larger audience.

As a consequence, we obtain Wold-type decomposition for pairs of doubly twisted isometries and in particular, new and simple proof of Słoćinski's theorem for pairs of doubly commuting isometries are provided. We also achieve an explicit decomposition for pairs of twisted contractions such that the c.n.u. parts of the contractions are in $C_{00}$. It is shown that for a pair $(T,V^*)$ of twisted operators with $T$ as a contraction and $V$ as an isometry, there exists a unique (upto unitary equivalence) pair of doubly twisted isometries on the minimal isometric dilation space of $T$. As an application, we prove that pairs of twisted operators consisting of an isometry and a co-isometry are doubly twisted. Many organisms have an elastic skeleton that consists of a closed shell of epithelial cells that is filled with fluid, and can actively regulate both elastic forces in the shell and hydrostatic pressure inside it. In this work we introduce a simple network model of such pressure-stabilized active elastic shells in which cross-links are represented by material points connected by non-linear springs of some given equilibrium lengths and spring constants. We mimic active contractile forces in the system by changing the parameters of randomly chosen springs and use computer simulations to study the resulting local and global deformation dynamics of the network. We elucidate the statistical properties of these deformations by computing the corresponding distributions and correlation functions. We show that pressure-induced stretching of the network introduces coupling between its local and global behavior: while the network opposes the contraction of each excited spring and affects the amplitude and relaxation time of its deformation, random local excitations give rise to contraction of the network and to fluctuations of its surface area.

Aspirations to slow down the spread of Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV2) resulted in unprecedented restrictions on personal and work-related travels in various nations across the globe. As a consequence, economic activities within and across the countries were almost halted. As restrictions loosen and cities start to resume public and private transport to revamp the economy, it becomes critical to assess the commuters' travel-related risk in light of the ongoing pandemic. We develop a generalizable quantitative framework to evaluate the commute-related risk arising from inter-district and intra-district travels by combining Nonparametric Data Envelopment analysis for vulnerability assessment with transportation network analysis. We demonstrate the application of the proposed model for establishing travel corridors or travel bubbles within and across Gujarat and Maharashtra, two Indian states that have reported many SARS-CoV2 cases since early April 2020. Our findings suggest that establishing the travel bubble between a pair of districts solely based on the health vulnerability indices of origin-destination discards the en-route travel risks due to prevalent pandemic, hence underestimating the threat. For example, while the resultant of social and health vulnerabilities of Narmada and Vadodara's districts is relatively moderate, the en-route travel risk exacerbates the overall travel risk. Our study provides actionable insights to users into choosing the alternate path with the least risk and can inform political decisions to establish low-risk travel corridors within and across the states while accounting for social and health vulnerabilities in addition to transit-time related risks.

In this article, we study the scrambling dynamics in supersymmetric quantum mechanical systems. The eigenstate representation of such supersymmetric systems allows us to present an explicit form of the $2N$-point out-of-time-order correlator (OTOC) using two equivalent formalisms viz. "Tensor Product formalism" and "Partner Hamiltonian formalism". We analytically compute the $2N$-point OTOC for the supersymmetric 1D harmonic oscillator and find that the result is in exact agreement with that of the OTOC of the 1D bosonic harmonic oscillator system. The higher-point OTOC is a more sensitive measure of scrambling than the usual 4-point OTOC. To demonstrate this feature, we consider a supersymmetric sextic 1D oscillator for which the bosonic partner system has an unstable saddle in the phase space, which is absent in the fermionic counterpart. For such a system we show that the bosonic, the fermionic as well as the supersymmetric OTOC exhibit similar dynamics due to supersymmetry constraints. Finally, we illustrate the late-time oscillatory behaviour of higher-point OTOC for saddle-dominated scrambling and anharmonic oscillator systems and propose it to be a probe of late-time dynamics in non-chaotic systems that exhibit fast early-time scrambling.

The concept of out-of-time-ordered correlation (OTOC) function is treated as a very strong theoretical probe of quantum randomness, using which one can study both chaotic and non-chaotic phenomena in the context of quantum statistical mechanics. In this paper, we define a general class of OTOC, which can perfectly capture quantum randomness phenomena in a better way. Further we demonstrate an equivalent formalism of computation using a general time independent Hamiltonian having well defined eigenstate representation for integrable supersymmetric quantum systems. We found that one needs to consider two new correlators apart from the usual one to have a complete quantum description. To visualize the impact of the given formalism we consider the two well known models viz. Harmonic Oscillator and one dimensional potential well within the framework of supersymmetry. For the Harmonic Oscillator case we obtain similar periodic time dependence but dissimilar parameter dependences compared to the results obtained from both micro-canonical and canonical ensembles in quantum mechanics without supersymmetry. On the other hand, for one dimensional potential well problem we found significantly different time scale and the other parameter dependence compared to the results obtained from non-supersymmetric quantum mechanics. Finally, to establish the consistency of the prescribed formalism in the classical limit, we demonstrate the phase space averaged version of the classical version of OTOCs from a model independent Hamiltonian along with the previously mentioned these well cited models.

We present a compartmental meta-population model for the spread of Covid-19 in India. Our model simulates populations at a district or state level using an epidemiological model that is appropriate to Covid-19. Different districts are connected by a transportation matrix developed using available census data. We introduce uncertainties in the testing rates into the model that takes into account the disparate responses of the different states to the epidemic and also factors in the state of the public healthcare system. Our model allows us to generate qualitative projections of Covid-19 spread in India, and further allows us to investigate the effects of different proposed interventions. By building in heterogeneity at geographical and infrastructural levels and in local responses, our model aims to capture some of the complexity of epidemiological modeling appropriate to a diverse country such as India.

Nationwide lockdown for COVID-19 created an urgent demand for public transportation among migrant workers stranded at different parts of India to return to their native places. Arranging transportation could spike the number of COVID-19 infected cases. Hence, this paper investigates the potential surge in confirmed and active cases of COVID-19 infection and assesses the train and bus fleet size required for the repatriating migrant workers. The expected to repatriate migrant worker population was obtained by forecasting the 2011 census data and comparing it with the information reported in the news media. A modified susceptible-exposed-infected-removed (SEIR) model was proposed to estimate the surge in confirmed and active cases of COVID-19 patients in India's selected states with high outflux of migrants. The developed model considered combinations of different levels of the daily arrival rate of migrant workers, total migrant workers in need of transportation, and the origin of the trip dependent symptomatic cases on arrival. Reducing the daily arrival rate of migrant workers for states with very high outflux of migrants (i.e., Uttar Pradesh and Bihar) can help to lower the surge in confirmed and active cases. Nevertheless, it could create a disparity in the number of days needed to transport all repatriating migrant workers to the home states. Hence, travel arrangements for about 100,000 migrant workers per day to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, about 50,000 per day to Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, 20,000 per day to Maharashtra and less than 20,000 per day to other states of India was recommended.

Abstract:
We give a complete characterization of invariant subspaces for $(M_{z_1}, \ldots, M_{z_n})$ on the Hardy space $H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$ over the unit polydisc $\mathbb{D}^n$ in $\mathbb{C}^n$, $n >1$. In particular, this yields a complete set of unitary invariants for invariant subspaces for $(M_{z_1}, \ldots, M_{z_n})$ on $H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$, $n > 1$. In particular, this yields a complete set of unitary invariants for invariant subspaces for $(M_{z_1}, \ldots, M_{z_n})$ on $H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$, $n > 1$. As a consequence, we classify a large class of $n$-tuples, $n > 1$, of commuting isometries. All of our results hold for vector-valued Hardy spaces over $\mathbb{D}^n$, $n > 1$. Our invariant subspace theorem solves the well-known open problem on characterizations of invariant subspaces of the Hardy space over the unit polydisc.

We also study the Toeplitz operators in the polydisc setting. Our main results on Toeplitz and asymptotic Toeplitz operators can be stated as follows: Let $T_{z_i}$ denote the multiplication operator on $H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$ by the $i^{th}$ coordinate function $z_i$, $i =1, \ldots, n$, and let $T$ be a bounded linear operator on $H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$. Then the following hold:
(i) $T$ is a Toeplitz operator (that is, $T = P_{H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)} M_{\varphi}|_{H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)}$, where $M_{\varphi}$ is the Laurent operator on $L^{2}(\mathbb{T}^n)$ for some $\varphi \in L^\infty(\mathbb{T}^n)$) if and only if $T_{z_i}^* T T_{z_i} = T$ for all $i = 1, \ldots, n$.
(ii) $T$ is an asymptotic Toeplitz operator if and only if $T = \mbox{~Toeplitz} + \mbox{~compact}$.
The case $n = 1$ is the well known results of Brown and Halmos, and Feintuch, respectively. We also present related results in the setting of vector-valued Hardy spaces over the unit disc.

Then $Θ_T$ coincides with the product of the characteristic function $Θ_A$ of $A$, the Julia-Halmos matrix corresponding to $L$ and the characteristic function $Θ_B$ of $B$. More precisely, $Θ_T$ coincides with \[ \begin{bmatrix} Θ_B & 0 \\ 0 & I \end{bmatrix} (I_Γ\otimes \begin{bmatrix} L^* & (I - L^* L)^{\frac{1}{2}} \\ (I - L L^*)^{\frac{1}{2}} & - L \end{bmatrix}) \begin{bmatrix} Θ_A & 0\\ 0& I\end{bmatrix}, \] where $Γ$ is the full Fock space. Similar results hold for constrained row contractions.

In this paper, a generalized vector-valued Musielak-Orlicz sequence space $l_{\bold Φ}^{A}(X)$ is introduced. It is shown that the space is complete normed linear space under certain conditions on the matrix $A$. It is also shown that $l_{\boldΦ}^{A}(X)$ is a $σ$- Dedikind complete whenever $X$ is so. We have discussed some geometric properties, namely, uniformly monotone, uniform Opial property for this space. Using the sequence of $s$-number (in the sense of Pietsch), the operators of $s$-type $l_{\boldΦ}^{A}$ and operator ideals under certain conditions on the matrix $A$ are discussed.

Various properties of this new family and the corresponding minimum distance procedures are discussed with particular emphasis on the robustness issue; these properties are demonstrated through simulation studies. In particular the method demonstrates the limitation of the first order influence function in assessing the robustness of the corresponding minimum distance procedures.
