The dynamical similarity which exists between the $λ$-mode excited $bbq$ baryons ($q$ refers to the $u$, $d$, and $s$ quarks) and the $\bar{b}q$ mesons inspires us to carry out a combined study of their spectroscopy. In this work, the masses and strong decays of these low-lying $b\bar{q}$ and $bbq$ states are studied by the same theoretical methods, and the dynamical similarity which is implied in their mass spectra and strong decays are also discussed. The recent discovered $\bar{b}q$ states, including the $B_J(5840)$, $B_J(5970)$, $B_{sJ}(6064)$, and $B_{sJ}(6114)$, are analyzed. According to our result, the $B_J(5840)$ could be assigned as a 2$S$ state, while the $B_J(5970)$ could be regarded as a member of the $1D(2^-,~3^-)_{j_q=5/2}$ doublet. The $B_{sJ}(6064)$ and $B_{sJ}(6114)$ are probably the $D$-wave states. Especially, they could be explained as the members of the $1D(1^-,~2^-)_{j_q=3/2}$ and $1D(2^-,~3^-)_{j_q=5/2}$ doublets, respectively. The predicted masses and decay properties of other unknown $\bar{b}q/bbq$ states may provide useful clues to the future experiment.

To respond to disasters such as earthquakes, wildfires, and armed conflicts, humanitarian organizations require accurate and timely data in the form of damage assessments, which indicate what buildings and population centers have been most affected. Recent research combines machine learning with remote sensing to automatically extract such information from satellite imagery, reducing manual labor and turn-around time. A major impediment to using machine learning methods in real disaster response scenarios is the difficulty of obtaining a sufficient amount of labeled data to train a model for an unfolding disaster. This paper shows a novel application of semi-supervised learning (SSL) to train models for damage assessment with a minimal amount of labeled data and large amount of unlabeled data. We compare the performance of state-of-the-art SSL methods, including MixMatch and FixMatch, to a supervised baseline for the 2010 Haiti earthquake, 2017 Santa Rosa wildfire, and 2016 armed conflict in Syria. We show how models trained with SSL methods can reach fully supervised performance despite using only a fraction of labeled data and identify areas for further improvements.

This paper is devoted to reduce the conservatism of distributionally robust optimization with moments information. Since the optimal solution of distributionally robust optimization is required to be feasible for all uncertain distributions in a given ambiguity distribution set and so the conservatism of the optimal solution is inevitable. To address this issue, we introduce the globalized distributionally robust counterpart (GDRC) which allows constraint violations controlled by functional distance of the true distribution to the inner uncertainty distribution set. We obtain the deterministic equivalent forms for several GDRCs under the moment-based framework. To be specific, we show the deterministic equivalent system of inequalities for the GDRCs under second order moment information with a separable distance function and a jointly convex distance function, respectively. Moreover, the feasible set of the system is convex. We also develop the deterministic equivalent inequality for the GDRC under first order moment and support information. The computationally tractable examples are presented for these GDRCs. A numerical tests of a portfolio optimization problem is given to show the efficiency of our methods and the results demonstrate that the globalized distributionally robust solutions is non-conservative and flexible compared to the distributionally robust solutions.

This paper proposes a new deep-learning method to construct test statistics by computer vision and metrics learning. The application highlighted in this paper is applying computer vision on Q-Q plot to construct a new test statistic for normality test. To the best of our knowledge, there is no similar application documented in the literature. Traditionally, there are two families of approaches for verifying the probability distribution of a random variable. Researchers either subjectively assess the Q-Q plot or objectively use a mathematical formula, such as Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, to formally conduct a normality test. Graphical assessment by human beings is not rigorous whereas normality test statistics may not be accurate enough when the uniformly most powerful test does not exist. It may take tens of years for statistician to develop a new test statistic that is more powerful statistically. Our proposed method integrates four components based on deep learning: an image representation learning component of a Q-Q plot, a dimension reduction component, a metrics learning component that best quantifies the differences between two Q-Q plots for normality test, and a new normality hypothesis testing process. Our experimentation results show that the machine-learning-based test statistics can outperform several widely-used traditional normality tests. This study provides convincing evidence that the proposed method could objectively create a powerful test statistic based on Q-Q plots and this method could be modified to construct many more powerful test statistics for other applications in the future.

In addition, we further provide the information of the properties of the partners of the $Ξ_b(6227)^-$. These predicted states include three $2S$ states and the remaining $1P$ states in the bottom-strange baryon family. The calculated sizable Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka$-$allowed decay widths of these partners show that the experimental search for them becomes possible via LHCb. We have a reason to believe that the present study can be treated as a start point for constructing the highly excited bottom baryon spectroscopy.

From a perspective of designing or engineering for opinion formation games in social networks, the "opinion maximization (or minimization)" problem has been studied mainly for designing subset selecting algorithms. We define a two-player zero-sum Stackelberg game of competitive opinion optimization by letting the player under study as the leader minimize the sum of expressed opinions by doing so-called "internal opinion design", knowing that the other adversarial player as the follower is to maximize the same objective by also conducting her own internal opinion design. We furthermore consider multiagent learning, specifically using the Optimistic Gradient Descent Ascent, and analyze its convergence to equilibria in the simultaneous version of competitive opinion optimization.

The influence of the nonlinear Bose-Hubbard interaction on the transfer behaviors is analyzed, and the nonmonotonic features are clearly exhibited. Particularly, in the strong on-site repulsion limit, the results become identical with the nonequilibrium spin-boson model. We also extend the quantum kinetic equation to study the geometric-phase-induced energy pump. An interesting reversal behavior is unraveled by enhancing the Bose-Hubbard repulsion strength.

Self-assembled supramolecular aggregates are excellent candidates for the design of efficient excitation transport devices. Both artificially prepared and natural photosynthetic aggregates in plants and bacteria present an important degree of disorder that is supposed to hinder excitation transport. Besides, molecular excitations couple to nuclear motion affecting excitation transport in a variety of ways. We present an exhaustive study of exciton dynamics in disordered nanorings with long-range interactions under the influence of a phonon bath and take the LH2 system of purple bacteria as a model. Nuclear motion is explicitly taken into account by employing the Davydov ansatz description of the polaron and quantum dynamics are obtained using a time-dependent variational method. We reveal an optimal exciton-phonon coupling that suppresses disorder-induced localization and facilitate excitation de-trapping. This excitation transfer enhancement, mediated by environmental phonons, is attributed to energy relaxation toward extended, low-energy excitons provided by the precise LH2 geometry with anti-parallel dipoles and long-range interactions. An analysis of localization and spectral statistics is followed by dynamical measures of coherence and localization, transfer efficiency and superradiance. Linear absorption, 2D photon-echo spectra and diffusion measures of the exciton are examined to monitor the diffusive behavior as a function of the strengths of disorder and exciton-phonon coupling.

The coherent two-dimensional (2D) electronic spectra with respect to the singlet fission (SF) process in organic molecular aggregates are simulated by the Davydov ansatz combined with the Frenkel-Dirac time-dependent variational algorithm. By virtue of the full-quantum dynamical approach, we are able to identify the signals of triplet excitation in the excite-state absorption contribution of the 2D spectra. In order to discuss whether a mediative charge-transfer (CT) state is necessary to SF, we increase the CT-state energy and find, in a theoretical manner, the beating signal related to the triplet is inhibited. The vibronic coherence is then studied in the beating maps for both the ground and excited state. Except for the normal beating modes adhering to the relevant electronic state, we observe signals that are explicitly related to the triplet excitations. The pathways of transition corresponding to these signals are clarified in the respective Feynman diagram, which can help the experimenters determine the physical origin of relevant measurements.

The spectra of charmed and bottom baryons with the orbital angular momentum $L = 1$ are studied in two popular constituent quark models, the Goldstone boson exchange (GBE) and the one gluon exchange (OGE) hyperfine interaction models, respectively. Inserting the latest experimental data from the "Review of Particle Physics", we find that in the GBE model, there exist some multiplets ($Σ_{c(b)}$, $Ξ'_{c(b)}$ and $Ω_{c(b)}$) which total spins of three quarks in their lowest energy states are 3/2, but in the OGE model there is no such phenomenon. This is the most important difference between the GBE and OGE models. These results can be tested in the near future. We suggest more efforts to study the excited charmed and bottom baryons both theoretically and experimentally, not only for the abundance of baryon spectra, but also for determining which hyperfine interaction model is realized in nature.

In this work, we systematically study the mass spectra and strong decays of $1P$ and $2S$ charmed and charmed-strange baryons in the framework of nonrelativistic constituent quark models. With the light quark cluster-heavy quark picture, the masses are simply calculated by a potential model. The strong decays are studied by the Eichten-Hill-Quigg decay formula. Masses and decay properties of the well-established $1S$ and $1P$ states can be reproduced by our method. $Σ_c(2800)^{0,+,++}$ can be assigned as a $Σ_{c2}(3/2^-)$ or $Σ_{c2}(5/2^-)$ state. We prefer to interpret the signal $Σ_c(2850)^0$ as a $2S(1/2^+)$ state although at present we cannot thoroughly exclude the possibility that this is the same state as $Σ_c(2800)^0$. $Λ_c(2765)^+$ or $Σ_c(2765)^+$ could be explained as the $Λ_c^+(2S)$ state or $Σ^+_{c1}(1/2^-)$ state, respectively. We propose to measure the branching ratio of $\mathcal{B}(Σ_c(2455)π)/\mathcal{B}(Σ_c(2520)π)$ in future, which may disentangle the puzzle of this state. Our results support $Ξ_c(2980)^{0,+}$ as the first radial excited state of $Ξ_c(2470)^{0,+}$ with $J^P=1/2^+$. The assignment of $Ξ_c(2930)^0$ is analogous to $Σ_c(2800)^{0,+,++}$, \emph{i.e.}, a $Ξ^\prime_{c2}(3/2^-)$ or $Ξ^\prime_{c2}(5/2^-)$ state. In addition, we predict some typical ratios among partial decay widths, which are valuable for experimental search for these missing charmed and charmed-strange baryons.

Until now, the first reported doubly charmed baryon $Ξ_{cc}^{+}(3520)$ is still a puzzle. It was discovered and confirmed by SELEX collaboration, but not confirmed by LHCb, BABAR, BELLE, FOCUS, or any other collaboration. In the present paper, by employing Regge phenomenology, we first express the mass of the ground state ($L$=0) doubly charmed baryon $Ω_{cc}^{*+}$ as a function of masses of the well established light baryons and singly charmed baryons. Inserting the recent experimental data, the mass of $Ω_{cc}^{*+}$ is given to be 3809$\pm$36 MeV, which is independent of any unobservable parameters. Then, with the quadratic mass relations, we calculate the masses of the ground state triply charmed baryon $Ω_{ccc}^{++}$ and doubly charmed baryons $Ξ_{cc}^{(*)++}$, $Ξ_{cc}^{(*)+}$, and $Ω_{cc}^{+}$ (the mass of $Ξ_{cc}^{+}$ is determined as 3520$^{+41}_{-40}$ MeV, which agrees with the mass of $Ξ_{cc}^{+}(3520)$). The isospin splitting $M_{Ξ_{cc}^{++}} - M_{Ξ_{cc}^{+}} = 0.4 \pm 0.3$ MeV. After that, masses of the orbitally excited ($L$=1,2,3) doubly and triply charmed baryons are estimated. The results are reasonable comparing with those extracted in many other approaches. We suggest more efforts to study doubly and triply charmed baryons both theoretically and experimentally, not only for the abundance of baryon spectra, but also for numerically examining whether the linear mass relations or the quadratic mass relations are realized in nature. We apply a new mass formula which is derived analytically in the relativistic flux tube model to the mass spectra of $Λ_Q$ and $Ξ_Q$ (\emph{Q} = \emph{c} or \emph{b} quark) baryons. To this end, the heavy quark-light diquark picture is employed. We find that all masses of the available $Λ_Q$ and $Ξ_Q$ states can be understood well. The assignments to these states do not appear to contradict the strong decay properties. $Λ_c(2760)^+$ and $Ξ_c(2980)$ are assigned to the first radial excitations with $J^P = 1/2^+$. $Λ_c(2940)^+$ and $Ξ_c(3123)$ might be the 2\emph{P} states. The $Λ_c(2880)^+$ and $Ξ_c(3080)$ are the good 1\emph{D} candidates with $J^P = 5/2^+$. $Ξ_c(3055)$ is likely to be a 1\emph{D} state with $J^P = 3/2^+$. $Λ_b(5912)^0$ and $Λ_b(5920)^0$ favor the 1\emph{P} assignments with $J^P = 1/2^-$ and $3/2^-$, respectively. We propose a search for the $\tildeΛ_{c2}(5/2^-)$ state which can help to distinguish the diquark and three-body schemes.

Abstract:
The spin is an important property of a particle. Although it is unlikely to happen, there is still a possibility that two particle with different spins share similar masses. In this paper, we propose a method to probe this kind of mass degeneracy of particles with different spins. Abstract:
The mass spectrum and strong decays of the X(1870) and $η_2(1870)$ are analyzed. Our results indicate that X(1870) and $η_2(1870)$ are the two different resonances. The narrower X(1870) seems likely a good hybrid candidate. We support the $η_2(1870)$ as the $η_2(2^1D_2)$ quarkonium. We suggest to search the isospin partner of X(1870) in the channels of $J/ψ\rightarrowρf_0(980)π$ and…

The latter channel is very important for testing the hybrid scenario.

Our numerical results show that the lowest energy states in all the three employed models are lying at $\sim$1800 MeV, about 200 MeV lower than predictions of various quenched three-quark models. In addition, it is very interesting that the state with the lowest energy in one gluon exchange model is with spin 3/2, but 1/2 in the other two models.

The non-equilibrium steady state is obtained for large size systems coupled to Markovian baths at its ends. The ballistic transport is observed in the uniform chain and normal diffusion in the random-exchange chain. {In addition, the ballistic-diffusive transition is found at the intermediate disorder regime.} The thermal conductivity $κ$ is also calculated in the low and high temperature regimes. It is shown that $κ$ decays as $κ\sim T^{-2}$ at high temperatures.

We also discuss the possibility to observe the predicted CP violating asymmetries at the LHC.

The quantum phase transition (QPT) of the one-dimensional (1D) quantum compass model in a transverse magnetic field is studied in this paper. An exact solution is obtained by using an extended Jordan and Wigner transformation to the pseudo-spin operators. The fidelity susceptibility, the concurrence, the block-block entanglement entropy, and the pseudo-spin correlation functions are calculated with antiperiodic boundary conditions. The QPT driven by the transverse field only emerges at zero field and is of the second-order. Several critical exponents obtained by finite size scaling analysis are the same as those in the 1D transverse field Ising model, suggesting the same universality class. A logarithmic divergence of the entanglement entropy of a block at the quantum critical point is also observed. From the calculated coefficient connected to the central charge of the conformal field theory, it is suggested that the block entanglement depends crucially on the detailed topological structure of a system.

Quantum phase transition in the one-dimensional period-two and uniform quantum compass model are studied by using the pseudo-spin transformation method and the trace map method. The exact solutions are presented, the fidelity, the nearest-neighbor pseudo-spin entanglement, spin and pseudo-spin correlation functions are then calculated. At the critical point, the fidelity and its susceptibility change substantially, the gap of pseudo-spin concurrence is observed, which scales as $1/N$ (N is system size). The spin correlation functions show smooth behavior around the critical point. In the period-two chain, the pseudo-spin correlation functions exhibit a oscillating behavior, which is absent in the unform chain. The divergent correlation length at the critical point is demonstrated in the general trend for both cases.

Based on these relations, mass ranges of some mesons and baryons are given. The masses of bc-bar and ss-bar belonging to the pseudoscalar, vector and tensor meson multiplets are also extracted. The J^P of the baryon Xi_cc(3520) is assigned to be 1/2^+. The numerical values for Regge slopes and intercepts of the 1/2^+ and 3/2^+ SU(4) baryon trajectories are extracted and the masses of the orbital excited baryons lying on the 1/2^+ and 3/2^+ trajectories are estimated. The J^P assignments of baryons Xi_c(2980), Xi_c(3055), Xi_c(3077) and Xi_c(3123) are discussed. The predictions are in reasonable agreement with the existing experimental data and those suggested in many other different approaches. The mass relations and the predictions may be useful for the discovery of the unobserved meson and baryon states and the J^P assignment of these states.
