The hydroperoxyalkyl radicals (.QOOH) are known to play a significant role in combustion and tropospheric processes, yet their direct spectroscopic detection remains challenging. In this study, we investigate molecular stereo-electronic effects influencing the kinetic and thermodynamic stability of a .QOOH along its formation path from the precursor, alkylperoxyl radical (ROO.), and the depletion path resulting in the formation of cyclic ether + .OH. We focus on reactive intermediates encountered in the oxidation of acyclic hydrocarbon radicals: ethyl, isopropyl, isobutyl, tert-butyl, neopentyl, and their alicyclic counterparts: cyclohexyl, cyclohexenyl, and cyclohexadienyl. We report reaction energies and barriers calculated with the highly accurate method Weizmann-1 (W1) for the channels: ROO. <=> .QOOH, ROO. <=> alkene + .OOH, .QOOH <=> alkene + .OOH, and .QOOH <=> cyclic ether + .OH. Using W1 results as a reference, we have systematically benchmarked the accuracy of popular density functional theory (DFT), composite thermochemistry methods, and an explicitly correlated coupled-cluster method. We ascertain inductive, resonance, and steric effects on the overall stability of .QOOH and computationally investigate the possibility of forming more stable species. With new reactions as test cases, we probe the capacity of various ab initio methods to yield quantitative insights on the elementary steps of combustion.

The present era has seen tremendous demands for low-cost electrochromic materials for visible-region multicolor display technology, paper-based, flexible, and wearable electronic devices, smart windows, and optoelectronic applications. Towards this goal, we report large-scale polyelectrochromic devices fabricated on rigid to flexible ITO substrates comprising novel anthracene containing viologen, (1,1'-bis(anthracen-9-ylmethyl)-[4,4'-bipyridine]-1,1'-diium bromide, abbreviated as AnV2+), and polythiophene (P3HT). Inter-estingly, the devices show three states of reversible visible color in response to the applied bias, sub-second to second switching time (0.7 s/1.6 s), and high coloration efficiency (484 cm2/C), longer cycling stability up to 3000 s (103 switching cycles). Thanks to the anthracenes moieties introduced to viologen that inhibit formation of undesired dimer of cation radicals formed in response to the applied bias, other-wise it would hamper the devices reconfiguration. The devices are fully characterized, and electrochromic performances are ensured by bias-dependent UV-Vis, and Raman spectroscopy. The fabricated electro-chromic devices are tested with the commercially available low-cost cells to perform, which is highly de-sired for practical applications. The computational study facilitates the understanding of experimental re-sults. The alternating current (AC)-based electrical impedance spectroscopy reveals that P3HT facilitates reducing charge transfer resistance of the devices. Our work shows CMOS compatibility and one of the best-performing devices that could pave the way for developing cost-effective flexible, and wearable electrochromic devices.

Business-specific Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) retrieval in task-oriented dialog systems poses unique challenges vis-à-vis community based FAQs. Each FAQ question represents an intent which is usually an umbrella term for many related user queries. We evaluate performance for such Business FAQs both with standard FAQ retrieval techniques using query-Question (q-Q) similarity and few-shot intent detection techniques. Implementing a real world solution for FAQ retrieval in order to support multiple tenants (FAQ sets) entails optimizing speed, accuracy and cost. We propose a novel approach to scale multi-tenant FAQ applications in real-world context by contrastive fine-tuning of the last layer in sentence Bi-Encoders along with tenant-specific weight switching.
