Recent experiments by S. Krishnia et al., Nano Lett. 23, 6785 (2023) reported an unprecedentedly large enhancement of torques upon inserting thin Al layer in Co/Pt heterostructure that suggested the presence of a Rashba-like interaction at the metallic Co/Al interface. Based on first-principles calculations, we reveal the emergence of a large helical orbital texture in reciprocal space at the interfacial Co layer, whose origin is attributed to the orbital Rashba effect due to the formation of the surface states at the Co/Al interface and where spin-orbit coupling is found to produce smaller contributions with a higher-order winding of the orbital momentum. Our results unveil that the orbital texture gives rise to a non-equilibrium orbital accumulation producing large current-induced torques, thus providing an essential theoretical background for the experimental data and advancing the use of orbital transport phenomena in all-metallic magnetic systems with light elements.

High-speed multiplex imaging of fluorescent probes is limited by a combination of spectral resolution, sensitivity, high cost and low light throughput of detectors, and filters. In this work, we present a hyperspectral detection system based on a silicon photomultiplier array that enables high-speed, high-light throughput hyperspectral imaging at low cost. We demonstrate 16 spectral channel imaging at 50 MP/s (800M spectra per second) with a conventional two photon microscope combined with a generalized spectral unmixing model that enables extraction of spectrally overlapping fluorophores. We show that the high spectral resolution combined with high throughput enables the multiplexing of multiple contrast agents over large areas and the detection of subtle spectral shifts associated with molecular binding. Silicon photomultiplier arrays may be a promising method to extend multiplex fluorescence imaging in a variety of scenarios.

Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) and Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions are key interactions in modern spintronics. These interactions are thought to be dominated by the oxidation of the Co|Al interface in the archetypal Platinum-Cobalt-Aluminum oxide system. Here, we observe a double sign change in the anisotropy and about threefold variation in interfacial chiral interaction, influenced not only by the oxidation, but also by the metallic Al thickness. Contrary to previous assumptions about negligible spin-orbit effects at light metal interfaces, we not only observe strong PMA with fully oxidized Al, decreasing and turning negative (in-plane) with less oxygen at the Co|Al interface, we also observe that the magnetic anisotropy reverts to positive (out-of-plane) values at fully metallic Co|Al interface. These findings suggest modification in Co d band via Co|Al orbital hybridization, an effect supported by X-ray absorption spectroscopy and ab initio theory calculations, highlighting the key impact of strain on interfacial mechanisms at fully metallic Co|Al interface.

High-redshift radio(-loud) galaxies (H$z$RGs) are massive galaxies with powerful radio-loud active galactic nuclei (AGNs) and serve as beacons for protocluster identification. However, the interplay between H$z$RGs and the large-scale environment remains unclear. To understand the connection between H$z$RGs and the surrounding obscured star formation, we investigated the overdensity and spatial distribution of submillimeter-bright galaxies (SMGs) in the field of 4C\,23.56, a well-known H$z$RG at $z=2.48$. We used SCUBA-2 data ($σ\,{\sim}\,0.6$\,mJy) to estimate the $850\,{\rm μm}$ source number counts and examine the radial and azimuthal overdensities of the $850\,{\rm μm}$ sources in the vicinity of the H$z$RG. The angular distribution of SMGs is inhomogeneous around the H$z$RG 4C\,23.56, with fewer sources oriented along the radio jet. We also find a significant overdensity of bright SMGs (${\rm S}_{850\rm\,μm}\geq5\,$mJy). Faint and bright SMGs exhibit different spatial distributions. The former are concentrated in the core region, while the latter prefer the outskirts of the H$z$RG field. High-resolution observations show that the seven brightest SMGs in our sample are intrinsically bright, suggesting that the overdensity of bright SMGs is less likely due to the source multiplicity.

The Gamow-Teller strength distribution covering the entire $β$-decay window, up to 10.312(4) MeV, of $^{80g+m}$Ga was measured for the first time in photo-fission of UC$_x$ induced by 50 MeV electron beam. The new data show significant enhancement in the high-energy region with a jump-structure. Simultaneously, the $γ$ de-exciting behavior of $β$-populated states presents a competition between de-excitation to 2$_1^+$ [$β_2$ = 0.155(9)] and to 2$_2^+$ [$β_2$ = 0.053$_{0.009}^{0.008}$)] in $^{80}$Ge. Based on these facts and combined with a realistic shell model calculation and systematic analysis of logft ratio between precursor $β$-decay to 2$_2^+$ and to 2$_1^+$ of Ga isotopes, we conclude that these phenomena evidence simultaneous impacts of nuclear shell structure and collectivity on B(GT) and its distribution and, therefore, the half-life of the precursor. These data prove that the nucleus as a multi-nucleon correlated quantum system reacts as a whole when $β$-decay occurs in contrast to simple single-particle excitation. Additionally, the comparison with the theoretical results evidence how challenging is the description of the experimental data obtained, and render this experimental outcome a sound test for the theoretical models.

We report a very large spin-orbit torque (SOT) capability of chromium-based transition metal dichalcogenides (TMD) in their Janus forms CrXTe, with X=S,Se. The structural inversion symmetry breaking, inherent to Janus structures is responsible for a large SOT response generated by giant Rashba splitting, equivalent to that obtained by applying a transverse electric field of $\sim 100 \,\text{V} \,\text{nm}^{-1}$ in non-Janus CrTe\textsubscript{2}, completely out of experimental reach. By performing transport simulations on custom-made Wannier tight-binding models, Janus systems are found to exhibit a SOT performance comparable to the most efficient two-dimensional materials, while allowing for field-free perpendicular magnetization switching owing to their reduced in-plane symmetry. Altogether, our findings evidence that magnetic Janus TMDs stand as suitable candidates for ultimate SOT-MRAM devices.

We analyze the PtSe$_2$ contribution to the hybrid interface states that develop within the bandgap of the semiconductor to probe the interaction. The experimental data indicate that the interlayer coupling increases markedly with the value of $θ$, which is confirmed by ab initio calculations. The moiré patterns observed within the gap are consistent with a momentum conservation rule between hybridized states, and the strength of the hybridization can be qualitatively described by a perturbative model.

Terahertz (THz) Spintronic emitters based on ferromagnetic/metal junctions have become an important technology for the THz range, offering powerful and ultra-large spectral bandwidths. These developments have driven recent investigations of two-dimensional (2D) materials for new THz spintronic concepts. 2D materials, such as transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), are ideal platforms for SCC as they possess strong spin-orbit coupling (SOC) and reduced crystal symmetries. Moreover, SCC and the resulting THz emission can be tuned with the number of layers, electric field or strain. Here, epitaxially grown 1T-PtSe$_2$ and sputtered Ferromagnet (FM) heterostructures are presented as a novel THz emitter where the 1T crystal symmetry and strong SOC favor SCC. High quality of as-grown PtSe$_2$ layers is demonstrated and further FM deposition leaves the PtSe$_2$ unaffected, as evidenced with extensive characterization. Through this atomic growth control, the unique thickness dependent electronic structure of PtSe$_2$ allows the control of the THz emission by SCC. Indeed, we demonstrate the transition from the inverse Rashba-Edelstein effect in one monolayer to the inverse spin Hall effect in multilayers. This band structure flexibility makes PtSe$_2$ an ideal candidate as a THz spintronic 2D material and to explore the underlying mechanisms and engineering of the SCC for THz emission.

Achieving large-scale growth of two-dimensional (2D) ferromagnetic materials with high Curie temperature (TC) and perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) is highly desirable for the development of ultra-compact magnetic sensors and magnetic memories. In this context, van der Waals (vdW) Cr2Te3 appears as a promising candidate. Bulk Cr2Te3 exhibits strong PMA and a TC of 180 K. Moreover, both PMA and TC might be adjusted in ultrathin films by engineering composition, strain, or applying an electric field. In this work, we demonstrate the molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) growth of vdW heterostructures of five-monolayer quasi-freestanding Cr2Te3 on three classes of 2D materials: graphene (semimetal), WSe2 (semiconductor) and Bi2Te3 (topological insulator). By combining structural and chemical analysis down to the atomic level with ab initio calculations, we confirm the single crystalline character of Cr2Te3 films on the 2D materials with sharp vdW interfaces. They all exhibit PMA and TC close to the bulk Cr2Te3 value of 180 K. Ab initio calculations confirm this PMA and show how its strength depends on strain. Finally, Hall measurements reveal a strong anomalous Hall effect, which changes sign at a given temperature. We theoretically explain this effect by a sign change of the Berry phase close to the Fermi level. This transition temperature depends on the 2D material in proximity, notably as a consequence of charge transfer. MBE-grown Cr2Te3/2D material bilayers constitute model systems for the further development of spintronic devices combining PMA, large spin-orbit coupling and sharp vdW interface.

The photoelectric factor (PEF) is an important well logging tool to distinguish between different types of reservoir rocks because PEF measurement is sensitive to elements with high atomic number. Furthermore, the ratio of rock minerals could be determined by combining PEF log with other well logs. However, PEF log could be missing in some cases such as in old well logs and wells drilled with barite-based mud. Therefore, developing models for estimating missing PEF log is essential in those circumstances. In this work, we developed various machine learning models to predict PEF values using the following well logs as inputs: bulk density (RHOB), neutron porosity (NPHI), gamma ray (GR), compressional and shear velocity.
The predictions of PEF values using adaptive-network-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and artificial neural network (ANN) models have errors of about 16% and 14% average absolute percentage error (AAPE) in the testing dataset, respectively. Thus, a different approach was proposed that is based on the concept of automated machine learning. It works by automatically searching for the optimal model type and optimizes its hyperparameters for the dataset under investigation. This approach selected a Gaussian process regression (GPR) model for accurate estimation of PEF values. The developed GPR model decreases the AAPE of the predicted PEF values in the testing dataset to about 10% AAPE. This error could be further decreased to about 2% by modeling the potential noise in the measurements using the GPR model.

We report a significant Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) and perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) at interfaces comprising hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) and Co. By comparing the behavior of these phenomena at graphene/Co and h-BN/Co interfaces, it is found that the DMI in latter increases as a function of Co thickness and beyond three monolayers stabilizes with one order of magnitude larger values compared to those at graphene/Co, where the DMI shows opposite decreasing behavior. At the same time, the PMA for both systems shows similar trends with larger values for graphene/Co and no significant variations for all thickness ranges of Co. Furthermore, using micromagnetic simulations we demonstrate that such significant DMI and PMA values remaining stable over large range of Co thickness give rise to formation of skyrmions with small applied external fields in the range of 200-250 mT up to 100 K temperatures. These findings open up further possibilities towards integrating two-dimensional (2D) materials in spin-orbitronics devices.

The perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) at magnetic transition metal/oxide interfaces is a key element in building out-of-plane magnetized magnetic tunnel junctions for spin-transfer-torque magnetic random access memory (STT-MRAM). Size downscaling renders magnetic properties more sensitive to thermal effects. Thus, understanding the temperature dependence of the magnetic anisotropy is crucial. In this work, we theoretically address the correlation between temperature dependence of PMA and magnetization in typical Fe/MgO-based structures. In particular, the possible mechanisms behind the experiments reporting deviations from the Callen and Callen scaling power law are analyzed. At ideal interfaces, first-principles calculations reveal (i) small high-order anisotropy constants compared to first order and (ii) enhanced exchange constants. Considering these two intrinsic effects in the atomistic simulations, the temperature-dependence of the total and layer-resolved anisotropy are found to follow the Callen and Callen scaling power law, thus ruling out an intrinsic microscopic mechanism underlying deviations from this law. Besides, two possible extrinsic macroscopic mechanisms are unveiled namely the influence of the dead layer, often present in the storage layer of STT-MRAM cells, and the spatial inhomogeneities of the interfacial magnetic anisotropy. About the first mechanism, we show that the presence of a dead layer tends to reduce the scaling exponents. In the second mechanism, increasing the percentage of inhomogeneity in the interfacial PMA is revealed to decrease the scaling exponent. These results allow us to explain the difference in scaling exponents relating anisotropy and magnetization thermal variations reported in earlier experiments. This is crucial for the understanding of the thermal stability of the storage layer magnetization in STT-MRAM applications.

Magnetic tunnel junctions with perpendicular anisotropy form the basis of the spin-transfer torque magnetic random-access memory (STT-MRAM), which is non-volatile, fast, dense, and has quasi-infinite write endurance and low power consumption. Based on density functional theory (DFT) calculations, we propose an alternative design of magnetic tunnel junctions comprising Fe(n)Co(m)Fe(n)/MgO storage layers with greatly enhanced perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) up to several mJ/m2, leveraging the interfacial perpendicular anisotropy of Fe/MgO along with a stress-induced bulk PMA discovered within bcc Co. This giant enhancement dominates the demagnetizing energy when increasing the film thickness. The tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) estimated from the Julliere model is comparable with that of the pure Fe/MgO case. We discuss the advantages and pitfalls of a real-life fabrication of the structure and propose the Fe(3ML)Co(4ML)Fe(3ML) as a storage layer for MgO-based STT-MRAM cells. The large PMA in strained bcc Co is explained in the framework of Bruno's model by the MgO-imposed strain and consequent changes in the energies of dyz and dz2 minority-spin bands.

So far, magneto-ionics, understood as voltage-driven ion transport in magnetic materials, has largely relied on controlled migration of oxygen ion/vacancy and, to a lesser extent, lithium and hydrogen. Here, we demonstrate efficient, room-temperature, voltage-driven nitrogen transport (i.e., nitrogen magneto-ionics) by electrolyte-gating of a single CoN film (without an ion-reservoir layer). Nitrogen magneto-ionics in CoN is compared to oxygen magneto-ionics in Co3O4, both layers showing a nanocrystalline face-centered-cubic structure and reversible voltage-driven ON-OFF ferromagnetism. In contrast to oxygen, nitrogen transport occurs uniformly creating a plane-wave-like migration front, without assistance of diffusion channels. Nitrogen magneto-ionics requires lower threshold voltages and exhibits enhanced rates and cyclability. This is due to the lower activation energy for ion diffusion and the lower electronegativity of nitrogen compared to oxygen. These results are appealing for the use of magneto-ionics in nitride semiconductor devices, in applications requiring endurance and moderate speeds of operation, such as brain-inspired computing.

We demonstrate that electronic and magnetic properties of graphene can be tuned via proximity of multiferroic substrate. Our first-principles calculations performed both with and without spin-orbit coupling clearly show that by contacting graphene with bismuth ferrite BiFeO$_3$ (BFO) film, the spin-dependent electronic structure of graphene is strongly impacted both by the magnetic order and by electric polarization in the underlying BFO. Based on extracted Hamiltonian parameters obtained from the graphene band structure, we propose a concept of six-resistance device based on exploring multiferroic proximity effect giving rise to significant proximity electro- (PER), magneto- (PMR), and multiferroic (PMER) resistance effects. This finding paves a way towards multiferroic control of magnetic properties in two dimensional materials.

Muon capture isotope production (MuCIP) using negative ordinary muon capture reactions (OMC) is used to efficiently produce various kinds of nuclear isotopes for both fundamental and applied science studies. The large capture probability of muon into a nucleus, together with the high intensity muon beam, make it possible to produce nuclear isotopes in the order of 10^{9-10} per second depending on the muon beam intensity. Radioactive isotopes (RIs) produced by MuCIP are complementary to those produced by photon and neutron capture reactions and are used for various science and technology applications. MuCIP on ^{Nat}Mo by using the RCNP MuSIC \muon beam is presented to demonstrate the feasibility of MuCIP. Nuclear isotopes produced by MuCIP are evaluated by using a pre-equilibrium (PEQ) and equilibrium (EQ) proton neutron emission model. Radioactive $^{99}$Mo isotopes and the metastable ^{99m}Tc isotopes, which are used extensively in medical science, are produced by MuCIP on ^{Nat}Mo and ^{100}Mo.

Consistency and duplicability in Computed Tomography (CT) output is essential to quantitative imaging for lung cancer detection and monitoring. This study of CT-detected lung nodules investigated the reproducibility of volume-, density-, and texture-based features (outcome variables) over routine ranges of radiation-dose, reconstruction kernel, and slice thickness. CT raw data of 23 nodules were reconstructed using 320 acquisition/reconstruction conditions (combinations of 4 doses, 10 kernels, and 8 thicknesses). Scans at 12.5%, 25%, and 50% of protocol dose were simulated; reduced-dose and full-dose data were reconstructed using conventional filtered back-projection and iterative-reconstruction kernels at a range of thicknesses (0.6-5.0 mm). Full-dose/B50f kernel reconstructions underwent expert segmentation for reference Region-Of-Interest (ROI) and nodule volume per thickness; each ROI was applied to 40 corresponding images (combinations of 4 doses and 10 kernels). Typical texture analysis metrics (including 5 histogram features, 13 Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix, 5 Run Length Matrix, 2 Neighboring Gray-Level Dependence Matrix, and 2 Neighborhood Gray-Tone Difference Matrix) were computed per ROI. Reconstruction conditions resulting in no significant change in volume, density, or texture metrics were identified as "compatible pairs" for a given outcome variable. Our results indicate that as thickness increases, volumetric reproducibility decreases, while reproducibility of histogram- and texture-based features across different acquisition and reconstruction parameters improves. In order to achieve concomitant reproducibility of volumetric and radiomic results across studies, balanced standardization of the imaging acquisition parameters is required.

The experiment E94-107 in Hall A at Jefferson Lab started a systematic study of high resolution hypernuclear spectroscopy in the 0p-shell region of nuclei such as the hypernuclei produced in electroproduction on 9Be, 12C and 16O targets. In order to increase counting rates and provide unambiguous kaon identification two superconducting septum magnets and a ring-imaging Cherenkov detector were added to the Hall A standard equipment. The high-quality beam, the good spectrometers and the new experimental devices allowed us to obtain very good results. For the first time, measurable strength with sub-MeV energy resolution was observed for the core-excited states of Lambda 12B. A high-quality Lambda 16N hypernuclear spectrum was likewise obtained. A first measurement of the Lambda binding energy for Lambda 16N, calibrated against the elementary reaction on hydrogen, was obtained with high precision, 13.76 +/- 0.16 MeV. Similarly, the first Lambda 9Li hypernuclear spectrum shows general agreement with theory (distorted-wave impulse approximation with the SLA and BS3 electroproduction models and shell-model wave functions). Some disagreement exists with respect to the relative strength of the states making up the first multiplet. A Lambda separation energy of 8.36 MeV was obtained, in agreement with previous results. It has been shown that the electroproduction of hypernuclei can provide information complementary to that obtained with hadronic probes and the gamma-ray spectroscopy technique.

The organic spinterface describes the spin-polarized properties that develop, due to charge transfer, at the interface between a ferromagnetic metal (FM) and the molecules of an organic semiconductor. Yet, if the latter is also magnetic (e.g. molecular spin chains), the interfacial magnetic coupling can generate complexity within magnetotransport experiments. Also, assembling this interface may degrade the properties of its constituents (e.g. spin crossover or non-sublimable molecules). To circumvent these issues, one can separate the molecular and FM films using a less reactive nonmagnetic metal (NM). Spin-resolved photoemission spectroscopy measurements on the prototypical system Co(001)//Cu/Mnphthalocyanine (MnPc) reveal that the Cu/MnPc spinterface atop ferromagnetic Co is highly spin-polarized at room temperature, up to Cu spacer thicknesses of at least 10 monolayers. Ab-initio theory describes a spin polarization of the topmost Cu layer after molecular hybridization that can be accompanied by magnetic hardening effects. This spinterface's unexpected robustness paves the way for 1) integrating electronically fragile molecules within organic spinterfaces, and 2) manipulating molecular spin chains using the well-documented spin transfer torque properties of the FM/NM bilayer.

We report a systematic first-principles investigation of the influence of different magnetic insulators on the magnetic proximity effect induced in graphene. Four different magnetic insulators are considered: two ferromagnetic europium chalcogenides namely EuO and EuS and two ferrimagnetic insulators yttrium iron garnet (YIG) and cobalt ferrite (CFO). The obtained exchange-splitting varies from tens to hundreds of meV. We also find an electron doping induced by YIG and europium chalcogenides substrates, that shift the Fermi level up to 0.78 eV and 1.3 eV respectively, whereas hole doping up to 0.5 eV is generated by CFO. Furthermore, we study the variation of the extracted exchange and tight binding parameters as a function of the EuO and EuS thicknesses. We show that those parameters are robust to thickness variation such that a single monolayer of magnetic insulator can induce a large magnetic proximity effect on graphene. Those findings pave the way towards possible engineering of graphene spin-gating by proximity effect especially in view of recent experiments advancement.

A characteristic dependence of voltage control of perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (VCMA) on oxygen migration at Fe/MgO interfaces was revealed by performing systematic {\it ab initio} study of the energetics of the oxygen path around the interface. We find that the surface anisotropy energy exhibits a Boltzmann sigmoidal behavior as a function of the migrated O-atoms concentration. The obtained variation of the VCMA efficiency factor $β$ reveals a saturation limit beyond a critical concentration of migrated O, about $54\%$, at which the anisotropy switches from perpendicular to in plane. Furthermore, depending on the range of variation of the applied voltage, two regimes associated with reversible or irreversible ions displacement are predicted to occur, yielding different VCMA response. According to our findings, one can distinguish from the order of magnitude of $β$ the VCMA driving mechanism: an effect of several tens of fJ/(V.m) is likely associated to charge-mediated effect combined with slight reversible oxygen displacements whereas an effect of the order of thousands of fJ/(V.m) is more likely associated with irreversible oxygen ionic migration.

We report on the results of the E06-014 experiment performed at Jefferson Lab in Hall A, where a precision measurement of the twist-3 matrix element $d_2$ of the neutron ($d_{2}^{n}$) was conducted. This quantity represents the average color Lorentz force a struck quark experiences in a deep inelastic electron scattering event off a neutron due to its interaction with the hadronizing remnants. This color force was determined from a linear combination of the third moments of the spin structure functions $g_1$ and $g_2$ on $^{3}$He after nuclear corrections had been applied to these moments. The kinematics included two average $Q^{2}$ bins of $3.2$ GeV$^{2}$ and $4.3$ GeV$^{2}$, and Bjorken-$x$ $0.25 \leq x \leq 0.90$ covering the DIS and resonance regions. We found $d_2^n$ to be small and negative for $<Q^{2}> = 3.2$ GeV$^{2}$, and smaller for $<Q^{2}> = 4.3$ GeV$^{2}$, consistent with a lattice QCD calculation. The twist-4 matrix element $f_{2}^{n}$ was extracted by combining our $d_{2}^{n}$ with the world data on $Γ_{1}^{n} = \int_{0}^{1} g_{1}^{n} dx$. We found $f_{2}^{n}$ to be roughly an order of magnitude larger than $d_{2}^{n}$. Utilizing the extracted $d_{2}^{n}$ and $f_{2}^{n}$ data, we separated the color force into its electric and magnetic components, $F_{E}^{y,n}$ and $F_{B}^{y,n}$, and found them to be equal and opposite in magnitude, in agreement with instanton model predictions but not with those from QCD sum rules. Additionally, we have extracted the neutron virtual photon-nucleon asymmetry $A_{1}^{n}$, the structure function ratio $g_{1}^{n}/F_{1}^{n}$, and the quark ratios $(Δu + Δ\bar{u})/(u + \bar{u})$ and $(Δd + Δ\bar{d})/(d + \bar{d})$. These results were found to be consistent with DIS world data and with the prediction of the constituent quark model but at odds with those of perturbative QCD at large $x$.

Experimental results are compared to shell-model calculations using the standard USDA and USDB interactions as well as ab-initio valence-space Hamiltonians calculated from the in-medium similarity renormalization group based on chiral two- and three-nucleon forces. Both methods reproduce the measured level spacings well, and this close agreement allows unidentified spins and parities to be consistently assigned.

We report the first measurement of target single spin asymmetries of charged kaons produced in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering of electrons off a transversely polarized $^3{\rm{He}}$ target. Both the Collins and Sivers moments, which are related to the nucleon transversity and Sivers distributions, respectively, are extracted over the kinematic range of 0.1$<$$x_{bj}$$<$0.4 for $K^{+}$ and $K^{-}$ production. While the Collins and Sivers moments for $K^{+}$ are consistent with zero within the experimental uncertainties, both moments for $K^{-}$ favor negative values. The Sivers moments are compared to the theoretical prediction from a phenomenological fit to the world data. While the $K^{+}$ Sivers moments are consistent with the prediction, the $K^{-}$ results differ from the prediction at the 2-sigma level.

Double-spin asymmetries and absolute cross sections were measured at large Bjorken $x$ (0.25 $ \le x \le $ 0.90), in both the deep-inelastic and resonance regions, by scattering longitudinally polarized electrons at beam energies of 4.7 and 5.9 GeV from a transversely and longitudinally polarized $^3$He target. In this dedicated experiment, the spin structure function $g_2$ on $^3$He was determined with precision at large $x$, and the neutron twist-three matrix element $d_2^n$ was measured at $\left< Q^2\right>$ of 3.21 and 4.32 GeV$^2$/$c^2$, with an absolute precision of about $10^{-5}$. Our results are found to be in agreement with lattice QCD calculations and resolve the disagreement found with previous data at $\left< Q^2\right> =$ 5 GeV$^2$/$c^2$. Combining $d_2^n$ and a newly extracted twist-four matrix element, $f_2^n$, the average neutron color electric and magnetic forces were extracted and found to be of opposite sign and about 30 MeV/fm in magnitude.

This paper looks at how citizens internet viewing can be controlled using content filters to prevent access to illegal sites and malicious contents in Nigeria. Primary data were obtained by administering 100 questionnaires. The data was analyzed by a software package called Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The result of the study shows that 66.4% of the respondents agreed that the internet is been abused and the abuse can be controlled by the use of content filters. The PHP, MySQL and Apache were used to design a content filter program. It was recommended that a lot still need to be done by public organizations, academic institutions, government and its agencies especially the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) in Nigeria to control the internet abuse by the under aged and criminals.

The pretzelosity asymmetries on $^3$He, which can be expressed as the convolution of the $h^\perp_{1T}$ transverse momentum dependent distribution functions and the Collins fragmentation functions in the leading order, were measured for the first time. Using the effective polarization approximation, we extracted the corresponding neutron asymmetries from the measured $^3$He asymmetries and cross-section ratios between the proton and $^3$He. Our results show that for both $π^{\pm}$ on $^3$He and on the neutron the pretzelosity asymmetries are consistent with zero within experimental uncertainties.

We report the first measurement of target single-spin asymmetries (A$_N$) in the inclusive hadron production reaction, $e~$+$~^3\text{He}^{\uparrow}\rightarrow h+X$, using a transversely polarized $^3$He target. The experiment was conducted at Jefferson Lab in Hall A using a 5.9-GeV electron beam. Three types of hadrons ($π^{\pm}$, $\text{K}^{\pm}$ and proton) were detected in the transverse hadron momentum range 0.54 $<p_T<$ 0.74 GeV/c. The range of $x_F$ for pions was -0.29 $<x_F<$ -0.23 and for kaons -0.25 $<x_F<$-0.18. The observed asymmetry strongly depends on the type of hadron. A positive asymmetry is observed for $π^+$ and $\text{K}^+$. A negative asymmetry is observed for $π^{-}$. The magnitudes of the asymmetries follow $|A^{π^-}| < |A^{π^+}| < |A^{K^+}|$. The K$^{-}$ and proton asymmetries are consistent with zero within the experimental uncertainties. The $π^{+}$ and $π^{-}$ asymmetries measured for the $^3$He target and extracted for neutrons are opposite in sign with a small increase observed as a function of $p_T$.

We report the first measurement of the target-normal single-spin asymmetry in deep-inelastic scattering from the inclusive reaction $^3$He$^{\uparrow}\left(e,e' \right)X$ on a polarized $^3$He gas target. Assuming time-reversal invariance, this asymmetry is strictly zero in the Born approximation but can be non-zero if two-photon-exchange contributions are included. The experiment, conducted at Jefferson Lab using a 5.89 GeV electron beam, covers a range of $1.7 < W < 2.9$ GeV, $1.0<Q^2<4.0$ GeV$^2$ and $0.16<x<0.65$. Neutron asymmetries were extracted using the effective nucleon polarization and measured proton-to-$^3$He cross section ratios. The measured neutron asymmetries are negative with an average value of $(-1.09 \pm 0.38) \times10^{-2}$ for invariant mass $W>2$ GeV, which is non-zero at the $2.89σ$ level. Our measured asymmetry agrees both in sign and magnitude with a two-photon-exchange model prediction that uses input from the Sivers transverse momentum distribution obtained from semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering.

For any choice of a basis $\cal A$ the free group $F_N$ of finite rank $N \geq 2$ can be canonically identified with the set $F(\cal A)$ of reduced words in $\cal A\cup \cal A^{-1}$. However, such a word $w \in F(\cal A)$ admits a second interpretation, namely as cylinder $C^1_w \subset \partial F_N$. The subset of $\partial F_N$ defined by $C^1_w$ depends not only on the element of $F_N$ given by the word $w$, but also on the chosen basis $\cal A$. In particular one has in general, for $Φ\in \Aut(F_N)$: $$Φ(C^1_w) \neq C^1_{Φ(w)}$$ Indeed, the image of a cylinder under an automorphism $Φ\in \Aut(F_N)$ is in general not a cylinder, but a finite union of cylinders: $$Φ(C^1_w)=C^{1}_U := \bigcup_{u_i \in U} C^1_{u_i}$$ In his thesis the first author has given an efficient algorithm and a formula how to determine such a (uniquely determined) finite {\em reduced} set $U = U(w) \subset F_N$. We use those to define the dual automorphism $Φ_{\cal A}^*$ by setting $Φ_{\cal A}^*(w) = U(w)$.
\smallskip \noindent {\bf Theorem:} {\it For any $Φ\in \Aut(F_N)$ there are at most 2N distinct finite subsets $U_i \subset F_N$ such that for any $w = y_1 ... y_r \in F_A$ there is one of them, say $U_{i(w)}$, with $$Φ_{\cal A}^*(w) = Φ(w) U_{i(w)}\, ,$$ and $U_{i(w)}$ depends only on the last letter $y_r \in \CA \cup \CA^{-1}$. Furthermore, the seize of each $U_{i}$ is bounded by $2^t$, where $t \geq 0$ is the number of Nielsen automorphisms in any decomposition of $Φ$ as product of basis permutations, basis inversions and elementary Nielsen automorphisms.}

However, deciding upon the optimum placement for the base stations (BS) to achieve best services while reducing the cost is a complex task requiring vast computational resource. This paper addresses antenna placement problem or the cell planning problem, involves locating and configuring infrastructure for mobile networks. The Cluster Partitioning Around Medoids (PAM) original algorithm has been modified and a new algorithm M-PAM (Modified-Partitioning Around Medoids) has been proposed by the authors in a recent work. In the present paper, the M-PAM algorithm is modified and a new algorithm CWN-PAM (Clustering with Weighted Node-Partitioning Around Medoids) has been proposed to satisfy the requirements and constraints. Implementation of this algorithm to a real case study is presented. Results demonstrate the effectiveness and flexibility of the modifying algorithm in tackling the important problem of mobile network planning.

Every cellular network deployment requires planning and optimization in order to provide adequate coverage, capacity, and quality of service (QoS). Optimization mobile radio network planning is a very complex task, as many aspects must be taken into account. With the rapid development in mobile network we need effective network planning tool to satisfy the need of customers. However, deciding upon the optimum placement for the base stations (BS s) to achieve best services while reducing the cost is a complex task requiring vast computational resource. This paper introduces the spatial clustering to solve the Mobile Networking Planning problem. It addresses antenna placement problem or the cell planning problem, involves locating and configuring infrastructure for mobile networks by modified the original Partitioning Around Medoids PAM algorithm. M-PAM (Modified Partitioning Around Medoids) has been proposed to satisfy the requirements and constraints. PAM needs to specify number of clusters (k) before starting to search for the best locations of base stations. The M-PAM algorithm uses the radio network planning to determine k. We calculate for each cluster its coverage and capacity and determine if they satisfy the mobile requirements, if not we will increase (k) and reapply algorithms depending on two methods for clustering. Implementation of this algorithm to a real case study is presented. Experimental results and analysis indicate that the M-PAM algorithm when applying method two is effective in case of heavy load distribution, and leads to minimum number of base stations, which directly affected onto the cost of planning the network.

The design of large-scale electronic circuits that are entirely spintronics-driven requires a current source that is highly spin-polarised at and beyond room temperature, cheap to build, efficient at the nanoscale and straightforward to integrate with semiconductors. Yet despite research within several subfields spanning nearly two decades, this key building block is still lacking. We experimentally and theoretically show how the interface between Co and phthalocyanine molecules constitutes a promising candidate. Spin-polarised direct and inverse photoemission experiments reveal a high degree of spin polarisation at room temperature at this interface. We measured a magnetic moment on the molecules's nitrogen pi orbitals, which substantiates an ab-initio theoretical description of highly spin-polarised charge conduction across the interface due to differing spinterface formation mechanims in each spin channel. We propose, through this example, a recipe to engineer simple organic-inorganic interfaces with remarkable spintronic properties that can endure well above room temperature.

The corresponding neutron $A_{LT}$ asymmetries were extracted from the measured $^{3}$He asymmetries and proton over $^{3}$He cross section ratios using the effective polarization approximation. These new data probe the transverse momentum dependent parton distribution function $g_{1T}^{q}$ and therefore provide access to quark spin-orbit correlations. Our results indicate a positive azimuthal asymmetry for $π^{-}$ production on $^{3}$He and the neutron, while our $π^{+}$ asymmetries are consistent with zero.

The extracted $π^\pm$ Collins moments for $^3$He are consistent with zero, except for the $π^+$ moment at $x=0.34$, which deviates from zero by 2.3$σ$. While the $π^-$ Sivers moments are consistent with zero, the $π^+$ Sivers moments favor negative values. The neutron results were extracted using the nucleon effective polarization and the measured cross section ratio of proton to $^3$He, and are largely consistent with the predictions of phenomenological fits and quark model calculations.

We report here the first direct lifetime measurement of the 2+1 state in 72,74Zn. The neutron-rich beam was produced by in-flight fragmentation of 76Ge at the Grand Accélérateur National d'Ions Lourds and separated with the LISE spectrometer. The 2+1 state was excited by inelastic scattering and knock-out reaction on a CD2 target and its lifetime was measured by the recoil-distance Dopplershift method with the Köln plunger device combined with the EXOGAM detectors. The lifetimes of the 2+1 states in 72,74Zn were determined to be 17.9(18) and 27.0(24) ps, which correspond to reduced transition probabilities B(E2; 2+1 \rightarrow 0+) = 385(39) and 370(33) e2fm4, respectively. These values support the idea of a systematic maximum of collectivity at N = 42 for Zn, Ge and Se nuclei. In addition, the available systematics in the neighboring nuclei point towards a transition from a spherical oscillator at N = 40 to complete γ-softness at N = 42.

Abstract:
Excited states of $^{38}_{17}$Cl$_{21}$ were populated in grazing reactions during the interaction of a beam of $^{36}_{16}$S$_{20}$ ions of energy 215 MeV with a $^{208}_{82}$Pb$_{126}$ target. The combination of the PRISMA magnetic spectrometer and the CLARA $γ$-ray detector array was used to identify the reaction fragments and to detect their decay via $γ$-ray emission. The combination of the PRISMA magnetic spectrometer and the CLARA $γ$-ray detector array was used to identify the reaction fragments and to detect their decay via $γ$-ray emission. A level scheme for $^{38}$Cl is presented with tentative spin and parity assignments. The level scheme is discussed within the context of the systematics of neighboring nuclei and is compared with the results of state-of-the-art shell model calculations.

Abstract:
gamma-rays following the B and B-n decay of the very neutron rich 84Ga produced by photo-fission of 238U have been studied at the newly built ISOL facility of IPN Orsay: ALTO. Two activities were observed and assigned to two B-decaying states: 84gGa, I = (0\^-) and 84mGa, I = (3\^-, 4\^-). Excitation energies of the 2+1 and 4+1 excited states of 84Ge were measured at E(2+1) = 624.3 keV and E(4+1…

Two activities were observed and assigned to two B-decaying states: 84gGa, I = (0\^-) and 84mGa, I = (3\^-, 4\^-). Excitation energies of the 2+1 and 4+1 excited states of 84Ge were measured at E(2+1) = 624.3 keV and E(4+1) = 1670.1 keV. Comparison with HFB+GCM calculations allows to establish the collective character of this nucleus indicating a substantial N=50 core polarization. The excitation energy of the 1/2+1 state in 83Ga known to carry a large part of the neutron 3s1/2 strength was measured at 247.8keV. Altogether these data allow to confirm the new single particle state ordering which appears immediately after the double Z=28 and N=50 shell closure and to designate 78Ni as a fragile and easily polarized doubly-magic core.

A ground-state binding energy of 13.76 +/- 0.16 MeV was obtained for 16N_Lambda with better precision than previous measurements on the mirror hypernucleus 16O_Lambda. Precise energies have been determined for peaks arising from a Lambda in s and p orbits coupled to the p_{1/2} and p_{3/2} hole states of the 15N core nucleus.

An experiment measuring electroproduction of hypernuclei has been performed in Hall A at Jefferson Lab on a $^{12}$C target. In order to increase counting rates and provide unambiguous kaon identification two superconducting septum magnets and a Ring Imaging CHerenkov detector (RICH) were added to the Hall A standard equipment. An unprecedented energy resolution of less than 700 keV FWHM has been achieved. Thus, the observed \lam{12}{B} spectrum shows for the first time identifiable strength in the core-excited region between the ground-state {\it s}-wave $Λ$ peak and the 11 MeV {\it p}-wave $Λ$ peak.
