Recent research has focused on the risks associated with poor sitting posture and the impact of sitting on biological parameters, such as heart rate because prolonged sitting is common across all ages and professions. In this work, we propose a novel approach that can display simultaneously posture and heart rate in real-time. In this device, pressure sensors are embedded into a flexible separate cushion easily put on any chair to provide sitting behaviours and a smartwatch-like PPG module is worn on the user's wrist. Regarding posture classification, pressure figures of ten pressure sensors under the seat bottom are inputs of four machine learning models, giving a high accuracy of 99 per cent. Besides, the Electrocardiography recording module is illustrated with the same results as a commercial device called DFRobot. Another advantage of this smart chair is that it not only simultaneously displays both sitting postures and heart rates on external devices like laptops, mobile phones, or televisions through microcontrollers but also offers the relationship between them to help people adjust their sitting behaviours, avoiding influencing heart rate. The smart chair is expected to be useful equipment for people with a sedentary lifestyle, especially office workers.

In this study, based on the quantum kinetic equation approach, we systematically present the radio-electric effect in asymmetric semi-parabolic quantum wells under the influence of a laser radiation field taking into account the electron-longitudinal optical phonon scattering mechanism. The numerical results show that the blue-shift of the maximum peaks in the photon energy range is less than 60 meV. The height of maximum peaks increases according to an exponential rule, depending nonlinearly on the structural parameters of the asymmetric semi-parabolic quantum wells. In the photon energy range greater than 100 meV, the saturated radio-electric field increases with temperature and geometric parameters of the quantum well. Temperature also strongly affects full-width at half-maximum with rules consistent with previous theoretical calculations and experimental observations. The results show the differences between symmetric and asymmetric semi-parabolic quantum wells, highlighting the influence of asymmetric structures on radio-electric effects in two-dimensional quantum well systems.

We present two criteria for checking approximate proper efficiency in vector optimization problems with the ordering cone being a nonnegative orthant. Although the criteria can be established by Benson's approach [H.P. Benson, \textit{An improved definition of proper efficiency for vector maximization with respect to cones}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. \textbf{71} (1979), 232--241], detailed proofs are given for the first time here. The two criteria are strong motivations to introduce the concept of $e$-properly efficient solution, where $e$ is any nonzero vector taken from the closed pointed convex ordering cone. For an arbitrary linear vector optimization problem, we show that either the $e$-properly efficient solution set is empty or it coincides with the $e$-efficient solution set. This new result has no analogue in the literature.

In this paper we consider a boundary value problem for fully fourth order nonlinear functional differential equation which contains all lower derivatives of proportional delay arguments. By the reduction of the problem to operator equation for the right hand side nonlinear function we establish the existence and uniqueness of solution and construct iterative methods on both continuous and discrete levels for solving it. We obtain the total error estimate for the discrete iterative solution. Many examples demonstrate the validity of the obtained theoretical results and the efficiency of the numerical method.

This paper is concerned with the existence and regularity of mininizers as well as of corresponding multipliers to an optimal control problem governed by semilinear elliptic equations, in which mixed pointwise control-state constraints are considered in a quite general form and the controls act simultaneously in the domain and on the boundary. Under standing assumptions, the minimizers and the corresponding multipliers do exist. Furthermore, by applying the bootstrapping technique and establishing some calculation tools for functions in Sobolev spaces of fractional order, the optimal solutions and the associated Lagrange multipliers are shown to be Lipschitz continuous.

We give two sets of conditions which assure that all the efficient solutions of a given problem are improperly efficient. We also obtain necessary conditions for an efficient solution to be improperly efficient. As a result, we have new sufficient conditions for Geoffrion's proper efficiency. The obtained results enrich our knowledge on properly efficient solutions in linear fractional vector optimization.

We report on the structural, magnetic, and magnetocaloric properties of polycrystalline (La0.5Pr0.5)0.6Ba0.4MnO3 (LPBMO), which was fabricated by a conventional solid-state reaction method. LPBMO undergoes a second-order paramagnetic to ferromagnetic (PM-FM) phase transition around a Curie temperature TC ~ 277 K. The maximum magnetic entropy change is ~ 3.22 J kg-1 K-1 for a magnetic field change of 5 T. Based on the modified-Arrott plot and the iterative Kouvel Fisher methods, a set of critical exponents (beta = 0.514, gamma = 1.164, and delta = 3.265) are determined. These values are close to those expected for the mean field model with long range interactions below TC and for the 3D-Ising model with short range interactions above TC. Effect of A-site co-doping (La,Pr) on the magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of LPBMO is analyzed and discussed.

In this paper we study the existence and uniqueness of a solution and propose an iterative method for solving a beam problem which is described by the fully fourth order equation $$u^{(4)}(x)=f(x,u(x),u'(x),u'''(x),u'''(x)), \quad 0 < x < 1$$ associated with the Dirichlet boundary conditions.
This problem was studied by several authors. Here we propose a novel approach by the reduction of the problem to an operator equation for the triplet of the nonlinear term $\varphi (x)=f(x,u(x),u'(x),u''(x),u'''(x))$ and the unknown values $u''(0), u''(1).$ Under some easily verified conditions on the function $f$ in a specified bounded domain, we prove the contraction of the operator. This guarantees the existence and uniqueness of a solution and the convergence of an iterative method for finding it. Many examples demonstrate the applicability of the theoretical results and the efficiency of the iterative method. The advantages of the obtained results over those of Agarwal are shown on some examples.

We advocate that the data available at LHCb can already yield a new measurement of Br(eta->mu+mu-) with accuracy competitive with the current world average. We also estimate that using the data collected by LHCb between 2015 and 2018 in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.0/fb, the relative uncertainties to this branching ratio can be reduced down to ~10%. We also show that the first observation of Br(eta'->mu+mu-) may be possible with the Upgrade of the LHCb experiment.

We find that the types and abundances of structures which form at approximately Earth-mass scales are very sensitive to the nature of dark matter. We explore various candidates for dark matter and determine the corresponding properties of small-scale structure. In particular, we discuss possibilities for indirect detection of dark matter through small-scale structure, and comment on the potential of these methods for discriminating between dark matter candidates.
