A canonical tree decomposition for order types, and some applications
Abstract: We introduce and study a notion of decomposition of planar point sets (or rather of their chirotopes) as trees decorated by smaller chirotopes. This decomposition is based on the concept of mutually avoiding sets (which we rephrase as \emph{modules}), and adapts in some sense the modular decomposition of graphs in the world of chirotopes. The associated tree always exists and is unique up to some… ▽ More

Binary search trees of permuton samples
Abstract: Binary search trees (BST) are a popular type of data structure when dealing with ordered data. Indeed, they enable one to access and modify data efficiently, with their height corresponding to the worst retrieval time. From a probabilistic point of view, binary search trees associated with data arriving in a uniform random order are well understood, but less is known when the input is a non-unifor… ▽ More

Dense and nondense limits for uniform random intersection graphs
Abstract: We obtain the scaling limits of random graphs drawn uniformly in three families of intersection graphs: permutation graphs, circle graphs, and unit interval graphs. The two first families typically generate dense graphs, in these cases we prove a.s. convergence to an explicit deterministic graphon. Uniform unit interval graphs are nondense and we prove convergence in the sense of Gromov-Prokhorov… ▽ More

Asymptotic normality of pattern counts in conjugacy classes

Wiener Indices of Minuscule Lattices
Abstract: The Wiener index of a finite graph G is the sum over all pairs (p, q) of vertices of G of the distance between p and q. In this paper, we find exact expressions for the Wiener indices of the distributive lattices of order ideals in minuscule posets. For infinite families of such posets, we a… ▽ More

Asymptotic behavior of some statistics in Ewens random permutations
Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present a general method to find limiting laws for some renormalized statistics on random permutations. The model considered here is Ewens sampling model, which generalizes uniform random permutations. We describe the asymptotic behavior of a large family of statistics, including the number of occurrences of any given dashed pattern. Our approach is based on the m… ▽ More

On Kerov polynomials for Jack characters
Abstract: We consider a deformation of Kerov character polynomials, linked to Jack symmetric functions. It has been introduced recently by M. Lassalle, who formulated several conjectures on these objects, suggesting some underlying combinatorics. We give a partial result in this direction, showing that some quantities are polynomials in the Jack parameter $α$ with prescribed degree. Our result has several i… ▽ More

Characters of symmetric groups in terms of free cumulants and Frobenius coordinates
Abstract: Free cumulants are nice and useful functionals of the shape of a Young diagram, in particular they give the asymptotics of normalized characters of symmetric groups S(n) in the limit n\to\infty. We give an explicit combinatorial formula for normalized characters of the symmetric groups in terms of free cumulants. We also express characters in terms of Frobenius coordinates. Our formulas involve co… ▽ More

On complete functions in Jucys-Murphy elements
Abstract: The problem of computing the class expansion of some symmetric functions evaluated in Jucys-Murphy elements appears in different contexts, for instance in the computation of matrix integrals. Recently, M. Lassalle gave a unified algebraic method to obtain some induction relations on the coefficients in this kind of expansion. In this paper, we give a simple purely combinatorial proof of his result… ▽ More

Bijective enumeration of some colored permutations given by the product of two long cycles
Abstract: Let $γ_n$ be the permutation on $n$ symbols defined by $γ_n = (1\ 2\...\ n)$. We are interested in an enumerative problem on colored permutations, that is permutations $β$ of $n$ in which the numbers from 1 to $n$ are colored with $p$ colors such that two elements in a same cycle have the same color. We show that the proportion of colored permutations such that $γ_n β^{-1}$ is a long cycle is give… ▽ More

Zonal polynomials via Stanley's coordinates and free cumulants
Abstract: We study zonal characters which are defined as suitably normalized coefficients in the expansion of zonal polynomials in terms of power-sum symmetric functions. We show that the zonal characters, just like the characters of the symmetric groups, admit a nice combinatorial description in terms of Stanley's multirectangular coordinates of Young diagrams. We also study the analogue of Kerov polynomia… ▽ More
