An initial-boundary value problem for an unsteady two-dimensional heat conduction equation in a bounded domain modeling the unsteady temperature distribution of permafrost soil in the vicinity of a main gas pipeline, taking into account climate warming, is investigated. The parameters of the mathematical model are selected in accordance with experimental data on gas transportation in permafrost areas. The problem is solved numerically by the finite element method. Modeling of the temperature field has been carried out for 30 years since the start of the gas pipeline operation. Calculations are carried out until the periodic temperature regime of the soil around the gas pipeline is practically established. Under the initial conditions adopted in the work, a periodic temperature regime at the top and bottom of the pipe is established in approximately 12 years, and a periodic temperature regime in depth is established in approximately 22 years. Two scenarios of climate warming are considered: moderate RCP2.6 and more negative RCP8.5. It is shown that significant changes in the ground temperature regime occur in the vicinity of the pipe under both warming scenarios. Nevertheless, the calculations demonstrate the preservation of permafrost even in a negative scenario of climate warming.

A mathematical model of a spiking neuron network accompanied by astrocytes is considered. The network is composed of excitatory and inhibitory neurons with synaptic connections supplied by a memristor-based model of plasticity. Another mechanism for changing the synaptic connections involves astrocytic regulations using the concept of tripartite synapses. In the absence of memristor-based plasticity, the connections between these neurons drive the network dynamics into a burst mode, as observed in many experimental neurobiological studies when investigating living networks in neuronal cultures. The memristive plasticity implementing synaptic plasticity in inhibitory synapses results in a shift in network dynamics towards an asynchronous mode. Next,it is found that accounting for astrocytic regulation in glutamatergic excitatory synapses enable the restoration of 'normal' burst dynamics. The conditions and parameters of such astrocytic regulation's impact on burst dynamics established.

This paper investigates the initial boundary value problem for a non-stationary one-dimensional heat equation that simulates the temperature distribution in freshwater ice near the Earth's poles. The mathematical model has been constructed taking into account solid-liquid phase transitions. Data from meteorological stations were used to determine the model parameters, with the help of which the necessary physical and thermophysical characteristics of the computational domain were obtained. For the numerical solution of the problem, the finite volume method (FVM) was used. For the obtained periodic regime, the temperature versus depth dependences for each month were plotted, and the depth of the active layer, as well as the depth of zero annual amplitudes were found for each meteorological station. A forecast of the ice temperature regime for 2100 was modeled for three Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) scenarios of global warming: moderate RCP2.6, corresponding to the current emissions of RCP7 and adopted at the Paris Agreement in 2015 RCP1.9. By analyzing the impact of an additional 0,5 degrees Celsius of warming on other areas, a reduction in the full range of risks to humanity and the planet as a whole becomes evident with the proper efforts of the global community. Thus, the conducted modeling has confirmed the need to reduce the rate of global warming.
