The current observational tensions in the standard cosmological model have reinforced the research on dynamical dark energy, in particular on models with non-gravitational interaction between the dark components. Late-time observables like type Ia supernovas (SNe Ia) and large-scale structures (LSS) point to an energy flux from dark energy to dark matter, while the anisotropy spectrum of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) points to a small flux from dark matter to dark energy, fully consistent with no interaction at all. As background and visible matter tests are insensitive to the suppression/enhancement in the dark matter power spectrum, which is a characteristic of interacting models, while the CMB spectrum is strongly affected by it, this could be the origin of those results. In order to confirm it and at the same time to rule out the role of possible systematics between early and late-time observations, the use of a low redshift observable sensitive to the gravitational potential generated by dark matter is crucial. In the present paper, we investigate the observational viability of a class of interacting dark energy models, namely with energy exchange between vacuum-type and dust components, in the light of the Dark Energy Survey (DES) observations of galaxy weak lensing, in the context of a spatially-flat Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker spacetime. The best fit of our analysis is compatible with null interaction, with a weak preference for an energy flux from dark matter to dark energy, confirming the CMB based constraints.

We propose here a new variant of this theory such that the usual Newtonian second law is preserved. The cosmological solutions are analysed and accelerated cosmic expansion can be obtained in pure matter dominated universes. This happens due to the dynamical gravitational coupling of the introduced time varying field. We also analyse the matter density perturbations and find they exhibit an enhanced growth in comparison with the usual Newtonian like behavior in Einstein-de Sitter model.

We briefly review the analytical continuation method for determining quasinormal modes (QNMs) and the associated frequencies in open systems. We explore two exactly solvable cases based on the Pöschl-Teller potential to show that the analytical continuation method cannot determine the full set of QNMs and frequencies of a given problem starting from the associated bound state problem in Quantum Mechanics. The root of the problem is that many QNMs are the analytically continued counterparts of solutions that do not belong to the domain where the associated Schrödinger operator is self-adjoint, challenging the application of the method for determining full sets of QNMs. We illustrate these problems through the physically relevant case of BTZ black holes, where the natural domain of the problem is the negative real line.

In the present study, we generalize the possible ghost field configurations within the framework of $k$-essence theory to the Simpson-Visser metric area function $Σ^2=x^2+a^2$. Our analysis encompasses field configurations for the region-defined metric function $dA_\pm$ as well as the general solution that asymptotically behaves as Schwarzschild-de Sitter for $x\to-\infty$. Specifically, we investigate two scalar field configurations and define the associated potential for each one. Through rigorous calculations, we verify that all equations of motion are satisfied. Notably, our findings indicate that even when proposing new configurations of ghost scalar fields, the energy conditions remain unchanged. This result serves to validate the wormhole solutions obtained in previous studies.

The structure of unimodular gravity (UG) is invariant to a subclass of diffeomorphism, the transverse diffeomorphism, due to the unimodular condition ($\sqrt{-g}=ε=cte$). Consequently, there is a freedom to define how the conservation laws of the energy-momentum tensor in unimodular gravity in the cosmological context. One of the main characteristics of the complete system of equations that describe cosmological dynamics in UG is that they form an underdetermined system if the usual conservation law of the energy-momentum tensor is not used in your structure, that is, it is necessary to insert extra information into the system to solve the complete set of equations. In this article, we propose the construction of a background cosmological model based on the description of a holographic dark energy component with a cutoff of the order of Ricci scalar in non-conservative UG. Although this choice is indeed a new addition of information to the cosmological system, the complete set of equations remains underdetermined, however, the new feature of this cosmological model is the appearance of an interaction between matter and dark energy. Indeed, this is a well-known characteristic of cosmological models in which we have holographic dark energy density. Consequently, we propose an ansatz to the interaction term $Q=βH ρ_{m}$, and obtain the cosmological parameters of our model. We found a viable universe model with similar characteristics to the $Λ\mathrm{CDM}$ model. We performed statistical analysis of the background model using the "Cosmic Chronometer" (CC) data for $H(z)$, and obtain as a result using Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), and the Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC) as model selection criteria that $Λ\mathrm{CDM}$ prevails as the best model. However, the proposed model is competitive when compared to the cosmological model $ω\mathrm{CDM}$.

In this article, the implementation of black-bounce solutions in $f(R)$ theories is investigated. Black-bounce solutions are regular configurations of the static spherically symmetric space-time, containing both black holes and wormholes structures. In General Relativity (GR), black-bounce solution implies violation of the energy conditions. We investigate the same issue in $f(R)$ theories using two strategies: first, supposing a given form for the $f(R)$ function and then determining the matter behavior; second, imposing a condition on the matter density and obtaining the resulting $f(R)$ function. In all cases, a given structure for the metric functions is supposed. Violation of the energy conditions still occur but they are less severe than in the corresponding GR cases. We propose a zero-density model that has horizons, which differs from the GR case. We also propose a model with positive energy density and show that $ρ+p_r>0$, which was not the case in GR.

The area metric function is linked to the black-bounce area initially considered by Simpson-Visser, $Σ^2=x^2+a^2$. Subsequently, the expressions for the scalar field and scalar potential corresponding to the found solutions are determined, exhibiting phantom behavior everywhere due to violation of Null Energy Condition $(NEC^φ)$. The Kretschmann scalar is regular throughout spacetime, and the geodesics are complete. The energy conditions are analyzed, verifying that the null $(NEC^φ_1)$ and dominant energy conditions $(DEC^φ_1)$ are violated inside and outside the event horizon. Finally, the extrinsic curvature method was applied to determine the sign of the mass on the junction surface.

This work demonstrates that the modified gravitational force acting on a test particle is analogous to that derived from the Manev potential. Specifically, an additional term $\propto r^{-3}$ emerges alongside the conventional Newtonian component. We analyse the predicted expression for the pericenter advance and the Roche limit and use them to constraint the theory's single free parameter $ω$ which is analogous to the Brans-Dicke parameter. At the same time this theory is able to solve the advance of Mercury's perihelion, we also show that there is no relevant impact on the Roche limit in comparison to the well known Newtonian results.

Essentially, it is based on the Einstein-Hilbert Lagrangian with an additional constraint on the determinant of the metric. It can be explicitly shown that Unimodular Gravity can be recast as General Relativity in presence of a cosmological constant. This fact has led to many discussions on the equivalence of both theories at classical and quantum levels. Here we present an analysis focused on the classical scalar perturbations around a cosmological background. The discussion is extended for the case where a non-minimal coupled scalar field is introduced. Our results indicate that the equivalence is not verified completely at perturbative level.

In this work we determine the consequences of the quantum entanglement of a system of two identical particles when a generalized uncertainty principle (GUP) is considered. GUP's are usually associated with the existence of a minimal length. We focus on the main GUP's (KMM, ADV, Pedram and Nouicer) and then we determine the minimal uncertainties in position induced by those modified GUP's. Our results point out that the minimal uncertainty is reduced by half of its usual value independently of the GUP employed. This implies that the minimal length is also reduced by half. On the other hand, it is generally expected that the minimal length must not depend on physical system. We overcome this apparent paradox by realizing that the entangled system is composed by two particles so that an effective parameter related to the minimal length must be employed.

We have obtained direct images, lensing rings and photon rings for equatorial disks considering inclined locally static observers. Images corresponding to n=(2,3) exhibit a significantly closer resemblance to the critical curve as compared to the n=1 image. This highlights the remarkable potential of these higher-order images as robust testing grounds for General Relativity (GR). Furthermore in both spacetimes, we have obtained analytical solutions for the critical parameters governing the structure of the photon ring and analyzed these parameters in details.

First we discuss the main aspects of this modified theory of gravity where the gravitational Lagrangian is an arbitrary function of the Ricci scalar $R$ and of the trace of the energy-momentum tensor $T$. Then we present the basic equations for neutron stars including the equations of state used in the present work to describe the hadronic matter. Some physical quantities of interest are calculated such as mass-radius relations, moments of inertia, angular momentum, and compactness. By considering four different rotation regimes, we obtain results that indicate substantial modifications in the physical properties of neutron stars in $f(R,T)$ gravity when compared to those in the context of general relativity. In particular, the mass-radius relation for sequences of stars indicates that $f(R,T)$ gravity increases the mass and the equatorial radius of the neutron stars for stars rotating with an angular velocity smaller than Kepler limit.

Once the parametrization is known, we can choose appropriate $U(4)$ matrices to model physical problems. As examples, we discuss the infinite square-well, periodic conditions, anti-periodic conditions and periodic conditions up to a prescribed phase. The possible existence of charged black holes in general scalar--tensor theories was studied in {Bronnikov et al, 1999;} black holes and wormholes exist for a negative kinetic term for the scalar field. Using a conformal transformation, the static, spherically symmetric possible structures in the minimal coupled system are described. Besides wormholes and naked singularities, only a restricted class of black hole exists, exhibiting a horizon with an infinite surface and a timelike central singularity. The black holes and wormholes defined in the Einstein frame have some specificities with respect to the non-minimal coupling original frame, which are discussed in the text.

This work is geared towards analysis of shadows cast by Kerr-de Sitter (KdS) and Kerr-de Sitter Revisited (RKdS) black holes. Considering observers in the vicinity of the static radius, we derive the impact parameters defining the apparent positions of the shadows. Such observers are of interest to our work because embedding diagrams have shown that de Sitter space-time is analogous to an asymptotically flat one in the vicinity of the static radius. We also perform a comparative analysis between our result with that in Ref.[1]. Furthermore, we numerically obtain the radii of curvature, vertical diameters and horizontal diameters of the shadows. We find that for $Λ=1.11\times 10^{-52} m^{-2}$, M87* observations cannot distinguish a RKdS black hole shadow from that of a Kerr black hole. Additionally, for the same value of $Λ$, KdS and RKdS black hole shadows are identical. Previously, it has also been shown that when $Λ=1.11\times 10^{-52} m^{-2}$, KdS and Kerr black hole shadows are indistinguishable. Utilizing the 2017 EHT observations of M87* on the allowed range of the characteristic radius of the shadow, we obtain constraints on both black holes. When, a/M>0.812311, we observe that large angles of inclination ($θ>30.5107^{\circ}$) do not pass the constraints for both KdS and RKdS black holes.

However, if the energy-momentum tensor does not conserve separately, a new geometric structure appears with potentially observational signatures. In this text, we consider the evolution of gravitational waves in the nonconservative unimodular gravity, showing how it differs from the usual signatures in the standard model.

In this work we review the issue of imposing the conservation of the energy-momentum tensor as a necessary condition to recover the equivalence between the unimodular gravity and General Relativity (GR) equipped with a cosmological constant. This procedure is usually interpreted as an {\it ad hoc} imposition on the unimodular theory's structure. Whereas the consequences of avoiding the conservation of the total energy-momentum tensor has been already introduced in the literature, it has been not widely explored so far. We study an expanding universe sourced by a single effective perfect fluid such that the null divergence of its energy-momentum tensor is not imposed. As we shall show, in this scheme, the unimodular theory has its own conservation equation obtained from the Bianchi identities. We explore the evolution of the homogeneous and isotropic expanding background and show that a viable cosmological scenario exists. Also, we consider scalar perturbations with particular attention given to the gauge issue. We show that contrary to the traditional unimodular theory where the synchronous and longitudinal (newtonian) gauge for cosmological perturbations are not permitted, if the conservation of the energy-momentum is relaxed the scalar perturbations in the synchronous condition survive and present a growing mode behavior. We study therefore a new cosmological scenario in which the dynamics of the universe transits from the radiative phase directly to a accelerated one but allowing thus for structure formation.

This study revisits the absorption and scattering process by which a massless scalar field impinges on a charged dilatonic black hole. First, we review the classical analysis to obtain the deflection angle and the differential scattering cross-section. Then, using the partial wave method, we determine the total absorption cross-section numerically in terms of the decoupling parameter called $Mω$, finding that the amplitude of the dilatonic black hole is lower than the Reissner-Nordström one for mild frequencies. In the high-frequency limit, the absorption cross-section exhibits two different complex behaviors; the fine structure and the hyperfine structure. For the differential scattering cross-section, smaller values of $Mω$ lead to more significant amplitudes; the opposite scenario is obtained by increasing the charge-to-mass ratio. To fully grasp the main properties of the charged dilatonic black hole, we consider a different framework where the compact object is impinged by a charged massive scalar field. The superradiant effect is lessened for intermediate frequency concerning the Reissner-Nordström case. However, this effect does not necessarily imply the existence of any dynamical instability. In order to trigger the superradiant instability, unstable modes must remain trapped outside the event horizon with a mechanism based on the reflecting-mirror boundary conditions. In this way, a charged scalar field plus a charged black hole configure a charged black hole bomb. We provide an analytic formula (lower bound) for the values of the charge field, which can trigger this superradiant instability. We extend this minimal setup by considering the dilaton perturbations while freezing the other degree of freedom. The new perturbation scheme enhances the superradiance scattering and reduces the lower bound of the charge-to-mass ratio to develop a superradiant instability.

For static configurations the gravitational coupling acquires an intrinsic spatial dependence within the matter distribution. Therefore, the interior of astrophysical configurations may provide a testable environment for this approach as long as no screening mechanism is evoked. In this work we focus on the stellar hydrostatic equilibrium structure in such varying $G$ scenario. A modified Lane-Emden equation is presented and its solutions for various values of the polytropic index are discussed. The role played by the theory parameter $ω$, the analogue of the Brans-Dicke parameter, on the physical properties of stars is discussed.

In this paper we discuss classical and quantum aspects of cosmological models in Brans-Dicke theory. First, we review cosmological bounce solution in Brans-Dicke theory that obeys energy conditions (without ghost) for a universe filled with radiative fluid. Then we quantize this classical model in a canonical way, establishing the corresponding Wheeler-DeWitt equation in the minisuperspace, and analyze the quantum solutions. When the energy conditions are violated, corresponding to the case $ω<-3/2$, the energy is bounded from below and singularity-free solutions are found. However, in the case $ω> -3/2$ we cannot compute the evolution of the scale factor by evaluating the expectation values because the wave function is not finite (energy spectrum is not bounded from below). But we can analyze this case using Bohmian mechanics and the de Broglie-Bohm interpretation of quantum mechanics. Using this approach, the classical and quantum results can be compared for any value of $ω$.

We study observational constraints on the cosmographic functions up to the fourth derivative of the scale factor with respect to cosmic time, i.e., the so-called snap function, using the non-parametric method of Gaussian Processes. As observational data we use the Hubble parameter data. Also we use mock data sets to estimate the future forecast and study the performance of this type of data to constrain cosmographic functions. The combination between a non-parametric method and the Hubble parameter data is investigated as a strategy to reconstruct cosmographic functions. In addition, our results are quite general because they are not restricted to a specific type of functional dependency of the Hubble parameter. We investigate some advantages of using cosmographic functions instead of cosmographic series, since the former are general definitions free of approximations. In general, our results do not deviate significantly from $ΛCDM$. We determine a transition redshift $z_{tr}=0.637^{+0.165}_{-0.175}$ and $H_{0}=69.45 \pm 4.34$. Also assuming priors for the Hubble constant we obtain $z_{tr}=0.670^{+0.210}_{-0.120}$ with $H_{0}=67.44$ (Planck) and $z_{tr}=0.710^{+0.159}_{-0.111}$ with $H_{0}=74.03$(SH0ES). Our main results are summarized in table 2.

Bekenstein's inequalities are commonly understood as universal relations between the entropy, the charge, the momentum, and the energy of a physical system but independent of its dynamics. In particular, we consider the Born-Infeld electrodynamics coupled to gravity as described by General Relativity. Following the steps that lead to these inequalities, we study the absorption of a charged test particle by the black hole and verify that the entropy bound is violated. We find a modified upper bound for the entropy that depends on the maximum field parameter of the Born-Infeld theory.

The geometry of the Ellis-Bronnikov wormhole is implemented in the Rastall and k-essence theories of gravity with a self-interacting scalar field. The form of the scalar field potential is determined in both cases. A stability analysis with respect to spherically symmetric time-dependent perturbations is carried out, and it shows that in k-essence theory the wormhole is unstable, like the original version of this geometry supported by a massless phantom scalar field in general relativity. In Rastall's theory, it turns out that a perturbative approach reveals the same inconsistency that was found previously for black hole solutions: time-dependent perturbations of the static configuration prove to be excluded by the equations of motion, and the wormhole is, in this sense, stable under spherical perturbations.

The next generation of galaxy surveys will allow us to test some fundamental aspects of the standard cosmological model, including the assumption of a minimal coupling between the components of the dark sector. In this paper, we present the Javalambre Physics of the Accelerated Universe Astrophysical Survey (J-PAS) forecasts on a class of unified models where cold dark matter interacts with a vacuum energy, considering future observations of baryon acoustic oscillations, redshift-space distortions, and the matter power spectrum. After providing a general framework to study the background and linear perturbations, we focus on a concrete interacting model without momentum exchange by taking into account the contribution of baryons. We compare the J-PAS results with those expected for DESI and Euclid surveys and show that J-PAS is competitive to them, especially at low redshifts. Indeed, the predicted errors for the interaction parameter, which measures the departure from a $Λ$CDM model, can be comparable to the actual errors derived from the current data of cosmic microwave background temperature anisotropies.

Although $ψ_{qp}(ξ,t)$ is a physically acceptable state it is not a realizable state of the Universe because $ ψ_{qp}(ξ,t)$ has infinite norm, as in the ordinary case with no minimal length.

Rastall introduced a stress-energy tensor whose divergence is proportional to the gradient of the Ricci scalar. This proposal leads to a change in the form of the field equations of General Relativity, but it preserves the number of degrees of freedom. Rastall's field equations can be either interpreted as GR with a redefined SET, or it can imply different physical consequences inside the matter sector. We investigate limits under which the Rastall field equations can be directly derived from an action, in particular from two $f(R)$-gravity extensions: $f(R,\mathcal L_m)$ and $f(R,T)$. We show that there are similarities between these theories, but the Rastall SET cannot be fully recovered from them, apart from certain particular cases here discussed. It is remarkable that a simple, covariant and invertible redefinition of the SET, as the one proposed by Rastall, is hard to be directly implemented in the action.

We revisit here the analytical continuation approach usually employed to compute quasinormal modes (QNM) and frequencies of a given potential barrier $V$ starting from the bounded states and respective eigenvalues of the Schroedinger operator associated with the potential well corresponding to the inverted potential $-V$. We consider an exactly soluble problem corresponding to a potential barrier of the Poschl-Teller type with a well defined and behaved QNM spectrum, but for which the associated Schroedinger operator $\cal H$ obtained by analytical continuation fails to be self-adjoint. Although $\cal H$ admits self-adjoint extensions, we show that the eigenstates corresponding to the analytically continued QNM do not belong to any self-adjoint extension domain and, consequently, they cannot be interpreted as authentic quantum mechanical bounded states. Our result challenges the practical use of the this type of method when $\cal H$ fails to be self-adjoint since, in such cases, we would not have in advance any reasonable criterion to choose the initial eigenstates of $\cal H$ which would correspond to the analytically continued QNM.

In the present investigation we use observational data of $ f σ_ {8} $ to determine observational constraints in the plane $(Ω_{m0},σ_{8})$ using two different methods: the growth factor parametrization and the numerical solutions method for density contrast, $δ_{m}$. We verified the correspondence between both methods for three models of accelerated expansion: the $ΛCDM$ model, the $ w_{0}w_{a} CDM$ model and the running cosmological constant $RCC$ model. In all case we consider also curvature as free parameter. The study of this correspondence is important because the growth factor parametrization method is frequently used to discriminate between competitive models. Our results we allow us to determine that there is a good correspondence between the observational constrains using both methods. We also test the power of the $ fσ_ {8} $ data to constraints the curvature parameter within the $ ΛCDM $ model. For this we use a non-parametric reconstruction using Gaussian processes. Our results show that the $ fσ_ {8}$ data with the current precision level does not allow to distinguish between a flat and non-flat universe.

Such CSGM is derived, by virtue of Weyl conformal transformation, from a gravity model in the Jordan frame corresponding to a modified $f(R)$ gravity with a kinetic scalar curvature. We investigate the model using harmonic coordinates and consider a special case of the scaling transformation from the Jordan frame. We find classes of solutions corresponding to a zero potential and we investigate horizons, centers and the asymptotic behavior of the obtained solutions. Other classes of solutions (for the potential not equal to zero) are found using a special relation (ansatz) between the metric components. An old question surrounding bouncing models concerns their stability under vector perturbations. Considering perfect fluids or scalar fields, vector perturbations evolve kinematically as $a^{-2}$, where $a$ is the scale factor. Consequently, a definite answer concerning the bounce stability depends on an arbitrary constant, therefore, there is no definitive answer. In this paper, we consider a more general situation where the primeval material medium is a non-ideal fluid, and its shear viscosity is capable of producing torque oscillations, which can create and dynamically sustain vector perturbations along cosmic evolution. In this framework, one can set that vector perturbations have a quantum mechanical origin, coming from quantum vacuum fluctuations in the far past of the bouncing model, as it is done with scalar and tensor perturbations. Under this prescription, one can calculate their evolution during the whole history of the bouncing model, and precisely infer the conditions under which they remain linear before the expanding phase. It is shown that such linearity conditions impose constraints on the free parameters of bouncing models, which are mild, although not trivial, allowing a large class of possibilities. Such conditions impose that vector perturbations are also not observationally relevant in the expanding phase. The conclusion is that bouncing models are generally stable under vector perturbations. As they are also stable under scalar and tensor perturbations, we conclude that bouncing models are generally stable under perturbations originated from quantum vacuum perturbations in the far past of their contracting phase.

One of the most widely problem studied in quantum mechanics is of an infinite square-well potential. In a minimal-length scenario its study requires additional care because the boundary conditions at the walls of the well are not well fixed. In order to avoid this we solve the finite square-well potential whose the boundary conditions are well fixed, even in a minimal-length scenario, and then we take the limit of the potential going to infinity to find the eigenfunctions and the energy equation for the infinite square-well potential. Although the first correction for the energy eigenvalues is the same one has been found in the literature, our result shows that the eigenfunctions have the first derivative continuous at the square-well walls what is in disagreement those previous work. That is because in the literature the authors have neglected the hyperbolic solutions and have assumed the discontinuity of the first derivative of the eigenfunctions at the walls of the infinite square-well which is not correct. As we show, the continuity of the first derivative of the eigenfunctions at the square-well walls guarantees the continuity of the probability current density and the unitarity of the time evolution

We study a quantization via fractional derivative of a nonminimal derivative coupling cosmological theory, namely, the Fab Four John theory. Its Hamiltonian version presents the issue of fractional powers in the momenta. That problem is solved here by the application of the so-called conformable fractional derivative. This leads to a Wheeler-DeWitt equation of second order, showing that a Bohm-de Broglie interpretation can be constructed. That combination of fractional quantization and Bohmian interpretation provides us a new quantization method, in which the quantum potential is the criterion to say if a quantum solution is acceptable or not to be further studied. We show that a wide range of solutions for the scale factor is possible. Among all of those, a bouncing solution analogous to the perfect fluid cosmology seems to deserve special attention.

Theoretically, the running of the cosmological constant in the IR region is not ruled out. On the other hand, from the QFT viewpoint, the energy released due to the variation of the cosmological constant in the late universe cannot go to the matter sector. For this reason, the phenomenological bounds on such a running are not sufficiently restrictive. The situation can be different in the early universe when the gravitational field was sufficiently strong to provide an efficient creation of particles from the vacuum. We develop a framework for systematically exploring this ossibility. It is supposed that the running occurs in the epoch when the Dark Matter already decoupled and is expanding adiabatically, while baryons are approximately massless and can be abundantly created from vacuum due to the decay of vacuum energy. By using the handy model of Reduced Relativistic Gas for describing the Dark Matter, we consider the dynamics of both cosmic background and linear perturbations and evaluate the impact of the vacuum decay on the matter power spectrum and to the first CMB peak. Additionally, using the combined data of CMB+BAO+SNIa we find the best fit values for the free parameters of our model.

In a Bohmian quantum cosmology scenario, we investigate some quantum effects on the evolution of the primordial universe arising from the adoption of an alternative non-trivial ordering to the quantization of the constrained Hamiltonian of a minimally coupled scalar field. The Wheeler-DeWitt equation has a contribution from the change in factor ordering, hence there are new quantum effects. We compare the results between the non-trivial and the trivial ordering cases, showing that the classical limit is valid for both orderings, but new bouncing and cyclic solutions are present in the non-trivial case. Additionally, we show that the non-singular solutions already present in the trivial ordering formalism keep valid.

A decomposed generalised Chaplygin gas (gCg) with energy flux from dark energy to dark matter, represented by a negative value for the gas parameter $α$, is shown to alleviate the tension between EDGES data and the cosmological standard model. Using EDGES data and employing a Bayesian statistical analysis, the agreement with the standard model is only marginal. However, if $α$ is negative enough the gCg fits remarkably well the data, even in combination with SNe Ia datasets. On the other hand, when the CMB and BAO acoustic scales are included the preferred value for $α$ is near zero, implying that a small deviation from $Λ$CDM is predicted.

Abstract:
We study the stability properties of static, spherically symmetric configurations in k-essence theories with the Lagrangians of the form $F(X)$, $X \equiv φ_{,α} φ^{,α}$. The instability under spherically symmetric perturbations is proved for two recently obtained exact solutions for $F(X) =F_0 X^{1/3}$ and for $F(X) = F_0 X^{1/2} - 2 Λ$, where $F_0$ and $Λ$ are constants. The first solution describes a black hole in an asymptotically singular space-time, the second one contains two horizons of infinite area connected by a wormhole. It is argued that spherically symmetric k-essence configurations with $n < 1/2$ are generically unstable because the perturbation equation is not of hyperbolic type.
