Considered is the standard 4-dimensional ${\cal N}=1\,\,SU(N_c)$ SQCD with $1\leq N_F\leq N_c$ quark flavors with masses $m_{Q,i}$. {\bf The gauge invariant order parameter $ρ$ is introduced in \cite{ch1} distinguishing confinement (with $ρ=0$) and higgs (with $ρ\neq 0$) phases}. Using a number of independent arguments for different variants of transition between the confinement and higgs regimes in these theories, it is shown that {\bf transitions between these regimes are not crossovers but the phase transitions}.
In \cite{FS} the very special $SU(N_c)$ QCD theory with $N_F=N_c$ defective scalar "quarks" was considered by E.Fradkin and S.H.Shenker. The conclusion of \cite{FS} was that {\bf the transition between the confinement and higgs regimes is the analytic crossover}. And although the theory considered in \cite{FS} was very specific, the experience shows that up to now there is a widely spread opinion that this conclusion has general applicability.
This model \cite{FS} is criticized in \cite{ch1},\cite{ch2} as incompatible with and very different from the standard non-SUSY $SU(N_c)\,\,N_F=N_c$ QCD theory with standard scalar quarks with all their physical degrees of freedom. It is emphasized that this model \cite{FS} is really {\bf the Stuckelberg $SU(N_c)$ YM-theory with no dynamical electric quarks and massive all $N_c^2-1$ electric gluons with fixed by hands nonzero masses}. There is no genuine confinement in this theory, it stays permanently in the completely higgsed (i.e. condensed) by hands phase only. And this is a reason for a crossover in this theory. While in the theory with standard scalar quarks there is the phase transition between the confinement (at $0 < |v|\ll Λ_{QCD}$) and higgs (at $|v|\ggΛ_{QCD}$) regimes.

The low energy mass spectra of the direct $SU(N_c)$, $\,N_F=N_c$ $\,{\cal N}=1$ SQCD theory and its N.Seiberg's dual variant [1], considered as two independent theories, are calculated in sections 2 and 3. It is shown that these two mass spectra are parametrically different, both for equal or unequal small quark masses $m_{Q,i}\neq 0$.
In [17] the very special non-SUSY lattice $SU(N_c)$ QCD theory with $N_F=N_c$ scalar defective "quarks" in the unitary gauge, $Φ^i_β=δ^i_β(|v|=const > 0)$, was considered by E.Fradkin and S.H.Shenker. The conclusion of [17] was that the transition between the confinement and higgs regimes in this theory is the analytic crossover, not the non-analytic phase transition. And although the theory considered in [17] was very specific, the experience shows that up to now there is a widely spread opinion that this conclusion has general applicability.
This model used in [17] is criticized in section 5 of this paper as incompatible with and qualitatively different from the standard non-SUSY $SU(N_c)$ $N_F=N_c$ QCD theory with standard scalar quarks $φ^i_β$ with all their $N^2_F$ real degrees of freedom. It is emphasized that this model [17] is really the Stuckelberg $SU(N_c)$ YM-theory with no dynamical electric quarks and with massive all $N_c^2-1$ electric gluons with fixed by hands nonzero masses. There is no genuine confinement in this theory, it stays permanently in the completely higgsed phase only. And this is a reason for a crossover in this theory. While in the theory with standard scalar quarks there is the phase transition between the confinement and higgs phases.
Besides, in section 5, the arguments presented in [2] by K.Intriligator and N.Seiberg for the standard direct $SU(N_c)$, $N_F=N_c$ $\,{\cal N}=1$ SQCD in support of the crossover from [17] are criticized as erroneous.

Considered is 4-dimensional ${\cal N}=1$ supersymmetric $SU(N_c)$ QCD (SQCD) with $1\leq N_F\leq N_c-1$ equal mass quark flavors in the fundamental representation. The gauge invariant order parameter $ρ$ is introduced distinguishing confinement (with $ρ=0$) and higgs (with $ρ\neq 0$) phases.
Using a number of independent arguments for different variants of transition between the confinement and higgs regimes, it is shown that transitions between these regimes are not crossovers but the phase transitions. Besides, it is argued that these phase transitions are of the first order.
This is opposite to the conclusion of the paper of E. Fradkin and S.H. Shenker [10] that the transition between the confinement and higgs regimes is the crossover, not the phase transition. And although the theories considered in this paper and in [10] are different, an experience shows that there is a widely spread opinion that the conclusion of [10] is applicable to all QCD-like theories: both lattice and continuum, both not supersymmetric and supersymmetric. This opinion is in contradiction with the results of this paper.

In considered here vacua, the quarks of both theories are in the conformal regimes at scales $μ<Λ_Q$. The mass spectra are calculated in sections 4 and 5. It is shown that they are different in the direct and dual theories, in disagreement with the Seiberg hypothesis about equivalence of two such theories.
Besides it is shown in the direct theory that a qualitatively new phenomenon takes place: the seemingly heavy fields $Φ$ `return back' and there appear two additional generations of light $Φ$-particles with small masses $μ^{\rm pole}_{2,3}(Φ)\llΛ_Q$.
In Conclusions also presented comparison of mass spectra of these two theories for such values of parameters when the direct theory is in the very strong coupling regime, while the dual one is in the weak coupling IR-free logarithmic regime. It is shown that mass spectra of these two theories are parametrically different in this case.

Besides, it includes $N^2_F$ additional colorless but flavored fields $Φ_{i}^{j}$, with the large mass parameter $μ_Φ\ggΛ_Q$. The mass spectra of this $Φ$-theory are first directly calculated at $0<N_F<N_c$ where the quarks are weakly coupled, in all different vacua with the unbroken or spontaneously broken flavor symmetry $U(N_F)\rightarrow U(n_1)\times U(n_2)$.
Further, the mass spectra of this direct $Φ$-theory and its Seiberg's dual variant, the $dΦ$-theory, are calculated at $3N_c/2<N_F<2N_c$ and various values of $μ_Φ/Λ_Q\gg 1$ (in strong coupling regimes), using the dynamical scenario introduced by the author in his previous article \cite{ch3}. This scenario assumes that quarks can be in two different standard phases only: either this is the HQ (heavy quark) phase where they are confined, or they are higgsed. Within the used dynamical scenario, it is shown that mass spectra of the direct $Φ$ and dual $dΦ$ - theories are parametrically different.
Besides it is shown in the direct $Φ$-theory that a qualitatively new phenomenon takes place: under appropriate conditions, the seemingly heavy and dynamically irrelevant fields $Φ$ 'return back' and there appear two additional generations of light $Φ$-particles with small masses $μ^{\rm pole}(Φ)\llΛ_Q$.
Also considered is the $X$-theory which is the ${\cal N}=2$ SQCD with $SU(N_c)$ colors and $0< N_F<2N_c$ flavors of light quarks, broken down to ${\cal N}=1$ by the large mass parameter of the adjoint scalar superfield $X, \, μ_X\ggΛ_2$. The tight interrelations between these $X$ and $Φ$ theories are described, in particular, the conditions under which they are equivalent.

There is a large number of different types of vacua in these theories with both unbroken and spontaneously broken global flavor symmetry, $U(N_F)\rightarrow U({\rm n}_1)\times U({\rm n}_2)$. We consider in this paper the large subset of these vacua with the unbroken non-trivial $Z_{2N_c-N_F\geq 2}$ discrete symmetry, at different hierarchies between the Lagrangian parameters $m\gtrlessΛ_2,\,\, μ_{\rm x}\gtrless m$. The forms of low energy Lagrangians, charges of light particles and mass spectra are described in the main text for all these vacua.
The calculations of power corrections to the leading terms of the low energy quark and dyon condensates are presented in two important Appendices. The results agree with also presented in these Appendices independent calculations of these condensates using roots of the Seiberg-Witten spectral curve. This agreement confirms in a non-trivial way a self-consistency of the whole approach.
Our results differ essentially from corresponding results in e.g. recent related papers arXiv:1304.0822, arXiv:1403.6086 and arXiv:1704.06201 of M.Shifman and A.Yung (and in a number of their previous numerous papers on this subject), and we explain in the text the reasons for these differences. Besides, there are $N_F^2$ additional colorless but flavored fields $Φ^j_i$ with the large mass parameter $μ_Φ\ggΛ_Q$. But now considered is the region $N_c+1<N_F<3N_c/2$ where the UV free direct $SU(N_c)$ theory is strongly coupled at scales $μ<Λ_Q$.
The mass spectra of this direct theory in various vacua and at different values of $μ_Φ\ggΛ_Q$ are calculated within the dynamical scenario introduced by the author in [10]. This scenario assumes that quarks in such ${\cal N}=1$ SQCD-like theories can be in two standard phases only. These are either the HQ (heavy quark) phase where they are confined or the Higgs phase.
It is shown that due to the strong power-like RG evolution, the seemingly heavy and dynamically irrelevant at scales $μ<Λ_Q$ fields $Φ^j_i$ can become light and relevant at lower energies, and there appear then two additional generation of light $Φ$-particles with masses $μ_{2,3}^{\rm pole}(Φ)\llΛ_Q$.
The calculated mass spectra of this strongly coupled at $μ<Λ_Q\, SU(N_c)$ theory are compared to those of its weakly coupled at $μ<Λ_Q$ Seiberg's dual $SU(N_F-N_c)$ variant and appeared to be parametrically different. It is worth to recall that the dynamical scenario from [10] used in this article satisfies all those tests which were used as checks of the Seiberg hypothesis about the equivalence of the direct and dual theories. This parametrical difference shows, in particular, that all these tests, although necessary, may well be insufficient.

A three-loop check of the 'a - maximization' in SQCD with adjoint(s)
Authors:
V. L. Chernyak
Abstract:
The 'a - maximization' was introduced by K. Inrtiligator and B. Wecht for finding anomalous dimensions of chiral superfields at the IR fixed points of the RG flow. Using known explicit calculations of anomalous dimensions in the perturbation theory of SQCD (with one or two additional adjoint fields), it is checked here at the three-loop level.

These are: a) either the HQ (heavy quark) phase where they are confined, b) or they are higgsed, at the appropriate values of parameters of the Lagrangian.
The mass spectra of this (direct) theory and its Seiberg's dual are obtained and compared, for quarks of equal or unequal masses. It is shown that in all cases when there is the additional small parameter at hand (it is 0<(3N_c-N_F)/N_F << 1 for the direct theory, or its analog 0<(2N_F-3N_c)/N_F << 1 for the dual one), the mass spectra of the direct and dual theories are parametrically different. A number of other regimes are also considered.

On Mass Spectrum in SQCD, and Problems with the Seiberg Duality. Equal quark masses
Authors:
Victor L. Chernyak
Abstract:
The dynamical scenario is considered for N=1 SQCD, with N_c colors and N_c<N_F<3N_c flavors with small but nonzero current quark masses m_Q\neq 0, in which quarks form the diquark-condensate phase. This means that colorless chiral quark pairs condense coherently in the vacuum, <{\bar Q}Q>\neq 0, while quarks alone don't condense, <Q>=<\bar Q>=0, so that the color is confined. Such condensation of quarks results in formation of dynamical constituent masses μ_C \gg m_Q of quarks and appearance of light "pions" (similarly to QCD). The mass spectrum of SQCD in this phase is described and comparison with the Seiberg dual description is performed. It is shown that the direct and dual theories are different (except, possibly, for the perturbative strictly superconformal regime).

Abstract:
It is shown that difficulties in reconciling the values of the cross section e+e- -> J/psi+eta_c measured at BELLE and calculated within non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) are caused not by some misinterpretation of the data or other exotic explanations, but by poor applicability of NRQCD to such processes.

The method used and results obtained are described for calculation of the cross section for the pion diffractive dissociation into two jets. The main new qualitative result is that the distribution of longitudinal momenta for jets is not simply proportional to the profile of the pion wave function
$φ_π(x)$, but depends on it in a complicated way. In particular, it is shown that under conditions of the E791 experiment, the momentum distribution of jets is similar in its shape for the asymptotic and CZ wave functions. It is concluded therefore that, unfortunately, the process considered is really weakly sensitive to the profile of the pion wave function, and the accuracy of data is insufficient to distinguish clearly between different models of $φ_π(x)$. Comparison with the results of other papers on this subject is given.

Contribution of the gluon distribution in the nucleon to the cross section for the pion diffractive dissociation into two jets has been calculated recently. In addition, we present here calculation of contribution of the quark distributions to this process.
It is expected usually that the quark contributions are much smaller than the gluon one at high energies. We show that, under the conditions of the E791 experiment, the quark contributions are as significant as the gluon one, so that the total cross section exceeds several times those with only gluon contribution.
Nevertheless, the distribution of jets in longitudinal momentum fractions does not change significantly and remains qualitatively the same. We compare our results with the data from the E791 experiment.
