p-wave superfluidity in mixtures of ultracold Fermi and spinor Bose gases
Abstract: We reveal that the p-wave superfluid can be realized in a mixture of fermionic and F=1 bosonic gases. We derive a general set of the gap equations for gaps in the s- and p-channels. It is found that the spin-spin bose-fermi interactions favor the p-wave pairing and naturally suppress the pairing in the s-channel. The gap equations for the polar phase of p-wave superfluid fermions are numerically s… ▽ More

The impact of the injection protocol on an impurity's stationary state
Abstract: We examine stationary state properties of an impurity particle injected into a one-dimensional quantum gas. We show that the value of the impurity's end velocity lies between zero and the speed of sound in the gas, and is determined by the injection protocol. This way, the impurity's constant motion is a dynamically emergent phenomenon whose description goes beyond accounting for the kinematic con… ▽ More

Two-terminal transport along a proximity induced superconducting quantum Hall edge
Abstract: We study electric transport along an integer quantum Hall edge where the proximity effect is induced due to a coupling to a superconductor. Such an edge exhibits two Majorana-Weyl fermions with different group velocities set by the induced superconducting pairing. We show that this structure of the spectrum results in interference fringes that can be observed in both the two-terminal conductance a… ▽ More

Counting free fermions on a line: a Fisher-Hartwig asymptotic expansion for the Toeplitz determinant in the double-scaling limit

Tunable Strongly Correlated Band Insulator
Abstract: We introduce the notion of the strongly correlated band insulator (SCI), where the lowest energy excitations are collective modes (excitons) rather than the single particles. We construct controllable 1/N expansion for SCI to describe their observables properties. A remarkable example of the SCI is bilayer graphene which is shown to be tunable between the SCI and usual weak coupling regime.

Ordered states of adatoms on graphene
Abstract: We show that a dilute ensemble of epoxy-bonded adatoms on graphene has a tendency to form a spatially correlated state accompanied by a gap in graphene's electron spectrum. This effect emerges from the electron-mediated interaction between adatoms with a peculiar $1/r^3$ distance dependence. The partial ordering transition is described by a random bond three state Potts model.
