Remarks on Lang's Conjectural Characterisation of Hyperbolicity of Projective Manifolds
Abstract: S. Lang conjectured that the only obstructions to a projective manifold being hyperbolic come from the presence of rational curves or Abelian varieties. We show that this conjecture follows from the abundance conjecture and the conjectural existence of enough rational curves on terminal Calabi--Yau and hyperkähler varieties. Assuming, in addition, Lang's second conjecture on the absence of Zariski… ▽ More

Hermitian metrics with vanishing second Chern Ricci curvature
Abstract: We describe a rigidity phenomenon exhibited by the second Chern Ricci curvature of a Hermitian metric on a compact complex manifold. This yields a characterisation of second Chern Ricci-flat Hermitian metrics on several types of manifolds as well as a range of non-existence results for such metrics.

A general Schwarz lemma for Hermitian manifolds
Abstract: The Schwarz lemma for holomorphic maps between Hermitian manifolds is improved. New curvature constraints on the source and target manifolds are introduced and shown to be weaker than the Ricci and real bisectional curvature, respectively. The novel target curvature condition is intrinsic to the Hermitian structure and is controlled by the holomorphic sectional curvature if the metric is pluriclos… ▽ More

Some Remarks on the Wu--Yau Theorem
Abstract: The Wu--Yau theorem asserts that a compact Kähler manifold with negative holomorphic sectional curvature admits a cohomologous metric with negative Ricci curvature. We introduce a conjectural positive analog of the Wu--Yau theorem and present several examples verifying the conjecture. We also produce an abundance of examples of Kähler--Einstein metrics on Kähler surfaces of general type that do no… ▽ More

$(\varepsilon, δ)$--Quasi-Negative Curvature and Positivity of the Canonical Bundle
Abstract: A recent theorem of Diverio--Trapani and Wu--Yau asserts that a compact Kähler manifold with a Kähler metric of quasi-negative holomorphic sectional curvature is projective and canonically polarized. This confirms a long-standing conjecture of Yau. We consider the notion of $(\varepsilon,δ)$--quasi-negativity, generalizing quasi-negativity, and obtain gap-type theorems for $\int_X c_1(K_X)^n>0$ in… ▽ More

On the Gauduchon Curvature of Hermitian Manifolds
Abstract: It is shown that many results, previously believed to be properties of the Lichnerowicz Ricci curvature, hold for the Ricci curvature of all Gauduchon connections. We prove the existence of $t$--Gauduchon Ricci-flat metrics on the suspension of a compact Sasaki--Einstein manifold, for all $t \in (-\infty,1)$; in particular, for the Bismut, Minimal, and Hermitian conformal connection. A monotonicit… ▽ More

Remarks on the Quadratic Orthogonal Bisectional Curvature
Abstract: We exhibit a curious link between the Quadratic Orthogonal Bisectional Curvature, combinatorics, and distance geometry. The Weitzenböck curvature operator, acting on real (1,1)--forms, is realized as the Dirichlet energy of a finite graph, weighted by a matrix of the curvature. These results also illuminate the difference in the nature of the Quadratic Orthogonal Bisectional Curvature and the Real… ▽ More

On Hermitian manifolds with vanishing curvature
Abstract: We show that Hermitian metrics with vanishing holomorphic curvature on compact complex manifolds with pseudoeffective canonical bundle are conformally balanced. Pluriclosed metrics with vanishing holomorphic curvature on compact Kähler manifolds are shown to be Kähler and hence, are completely classified. We prove that Hermitian metrics with vanishing real bisectional curvature on complex manifold… ▽ More

On the weighted orthogonal Ricci curvature
Abstract: We introduce the weighted orthogonal Ricci curvature -- a two-parameter version of Ni--Zheng's orthogonal Ricci curvature. This curvature serves as a very natural object in the study of the relationship between the Ricci curvature(s) and the holomorphic sectional curvature. In particular, in determining optimal curvature constraints for a compact Kähler manifold to be projective. In this direction… ▽ More

The Schwarz lemma in Kähler and non-Kähler geometry
Abstract: We introduce two new curvatures which refine and elucidate the real bisectional curvature considered by Yang-Zheng \cite{YangZheng}. A unified perspective of the various forms of the Schwarz lemma is given, leading to novel Chern-Lu, Aubin-Yau, and Chen-Cheng-Look Schwarz lemmas in both the Kähler and Hermitian category.

Second-order estimates for collapsed limits of Ricci-flat Kähler metrics
Abstract: We show that the singularities of the twisted Kähler--Einstein metric arising as the long-time solution of the Kähler--Ricci flow or in the collapsed limit of Ricci-flat Kähler metrics is intimately related to the holomorphic sectional curvature of the reference conical geometry. This provides an alternative proof of the second-order estimate obtained by Gross--Tosatti--Zhang with explicit constan… ▽ More

Twisted Kähler-Einstein Metrics and Collapsing
