In this article, we investigate the $Y=0$ $SU(2)$ scalar triplet and $Z_2$-odd scalar singlet extension of the Standard Model (SM). Here, the triplet charged Higgs boson decays to $ZW^\pm$, breaking the custodial symmetry at the tree-level, proportional to the triplet vev, while the singlet provides the dark matter (DM) relic. The triplet neutral Higgs ($T^0$) can decay fully invisibly owing to the triplet-singlet portal coupling $λ_{st}$. The other SM Higgs portal couplings $λ_{ht}, λ_{hs}$ are constrained by the Higgs to di-photon observations, and the dark matter relic and direct searches as well as invisible Higgs decay bounds, respectively. For a cleaner signature, we indulge in a futuristic multi-TeV muon collider (MuC) to probe both the triplet scalars ($T^\pm, T^0 $) via vector boson fusion with Forward muon tagging, at the centre-of-mass energies of 3 TeV and 10 TeV. The analysis is comprised of a traditional cut-based approach and a BDT classifier, where the latter is more effective for lower energies. With large missing energy contributions to the final states from combinations of DM mass and $λ_{st}$, The 3 TeV MuC is projected to probe triplet scalar masses of 450 GeV with the BDT classifier. The 10 TeV MuC can pinpoint the custodial symmetry breaking $T^\pm \to ZW^\pm \to 3$-lepton decay up to 800 GeV of triplet scalar mass from cut-based analysis, with $λ_{st}$ as low as 1.5 being adequate.

This study investigates the potential of a multi-TeV Muon Collider (MuC) for probing the Inert Triplet Model (ITM), which introduces a triplet scalar field with hypercharge $Y=0$ to the Standard Model. The ITM stands out as a compelling Beyond the Standard Model scenario, featuring a neutral triplet $T^0$ and charged triplets $T^\pm$. Notably, $T^0$ is posited as a dark matter (DM) candidate, being odd under a $Z_2$ symmetry. Rigorous evaluations against theoretical, collider, and DM experimental constraints corner the triplet scalar mass to a narrow TeV-scale region, within which three benchmark points are identified, with $T^\pm$ masses of 1.21 TeV, 1.68 TeV, and 3.86 TeV, for the collider study. The ITM's unique $TTVV$ four-point vertex, differing from fermionic DM models, facilitates efficient pair production through Vector Boson Fusion (VBF). This characteristic positions the MuC as an ideal platform for exploring the ITM, particularly due to the enhanced VBF cross-sections at high collision energies. To address the challenge of the soft decay products of $T^\pm$ resulting from the narrow mass gap between $T^\pm$ and $T^0$, we propose using Disappearing Charged Tracks (DCTs) from $T^\pm$ and Forward muons as key signatures. We provide event counts for these signatures at MuC energies of 6 TeV and 10 TeV, with respective luminosities of 4 ab$^{-1}$ and 10 ab$^{-1}$. Despite the challenge of beam-induced backgrounds contaminating the signal, we demonstrate that our proposed final states enable the MuC to achieve a $5σ$ discovery for the identified benchmark points, particularly highlighting the effectiveness of the final state with one DCT and one Forward muon.

We study the interaction between the inert Higgs doublet (IDM) dark matter and a vector-like $SU(2)$ triplet lepton (VLL), both of which are $Z_2$-odd. The vector current of the VLL with the $Z$-boson rules out a fermionic or two-component dark matter scenario. However, a compressed mass spectrum and a sufficiently small Yukawa coupling allows co-annihilation and late decay of the VLL into the IDM sector, affecting the relic density of the pseudoscalar dark matter. The same two factors enable displaced decay of the VLL states, providing novel signatures involving hadronically quiet displaced multi-lepton final states. Such signatures to probe the model are studied at the 14 and 27 TeV LHC, as well as the 100 TeV FCC-hh. In addition to being detectable at the CMS/ATLAS experiments, if the new particles have sub-100 GeV masses, signals can also be seen at the proposed MATHUSLA detector.

The present era has seen tremendous demands for low-cost electrochromic materials for visible-region multicolor display technology, paper-based, flexible, and wearable electronic devices, smart windows, and optoelectronic applications. Towards this goal, we report large-scale polyelectrochromic devices fabricated on rigid to flexible ITO substrates comprising novel anthracene containing viologen, (1,1'-bis(anthracen-9-ylmethyl)-[4,4'-bipyridine]-1,1'-diium bromide, abbreviated as AnV2+), and polythiophene (P3HT). Inter-estingly, the devices show three states of reversible visible color in response to the applied bias, sub-second to second switching time (0.7 s/1.6 s), and high coloration efficiency (484 cm2/C), longer cycling stability up to 3000 s (103 switching cycles). Thanks to the anthracenes moieties introduced to viologen that inhibit formation of undesired dimer of cation radicals formed in response to the applied bias, other-wise it would hamper the devices reconfiguration. The devices are fully characterized, and electrochromic performances are ensured by bias-dependent UV-Vis, and Raman spectroscopy. The fabricated electro-chromic devices are tested with the commercially available low-cost cells to perform, which is highly de-sired for practical applications. The computational study facilitates the understanding of experimental re-sults. The alternating current (AC)-based electrical impedance spectroscopy reveals that P3HT facilitates reducing charge transfer resistance of the devices. Our work shows CMOS compatibility and one of the best-performing devices that could pave the way for developing cost-effective flexible, and wearable electrochromic devices.

We also introduce uniform versions of the (strong) $\mathcal{C}$-MIP and characterise them analogously. Even in this case, the strong $\mathcal{C}$-UMIP appears to have richer characterisations than the $\mathcal{C}$-UMIP.

Besides generating Majorana mass for neutrinos, these leptoquarks contribute to muon and electron $(g-2)$ and various lepton flavour violating processes. While the two $-1/3$ charged colored scalars from singlet and doublet leptoquark mix with each other, the charge $2/3$ colored scalar from the doublet leptoquark remains pure. With a near-degenerate mass spectrum, the pure and mixed leptoquark states are shown to be distinguishable from multiple finalstates, while discerning between the two mixed states remain very challenging.

The present work develops a theoretical procedure for obtaining transport coefficients of Yukawa systems from density fluctuations. The dynamics of Yukawa systems are described in the framework of the generalized hydrodynamic model that incorporates strong coupling and visco-elastic memory effects. A hydrodynamic matrix for such a system is exactly derived and then used to obtain an analytic expression for the density autocorrelation function (DAF)- a marker of the time dynamics of density fluctuations. The present approach is validated against a DAF obtained from numerical data of Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations of a dusty plasma system that is a practical example of a Yukawa system. The MD results and analytic expressions derived from the model equations are then used to obtain various transport coefficients and the latter are compared with values available in the literature from other models. The influence of strong coupling and visco-elastic effects on the transport parameters are discussed. Finally, the utility of our calculations for obtaining reliable estimates of transport coefficients from experimentally determined DAF is pointed out.

A complex (dusty) plasma system is well known as a paradigmatic model for studying the kinetics of solid-liquid phase transitions in inactive condensed matter. At the same time, under certain conditions a complex plasma system can also display characteristics of an active medium with the micron-sized particles converting energy of the ambient environment into motility and thereby becoming active. We present a detailed analysis of the experimental complex plasmas system that shows evidence of a non-equilibrium stationary coexistence between a cold crystalline and a hot fluid state in the structure due to the conversion of plasma energy into the motion energy of microparticles in the central region of the system. The plasma mediated non-reciprocal interaction between the dust particles is the underlying mechanism for the enormous heating of the central subsystem, and it acts as a micro-scale energy source that keeps the central subsystem in the molten state. Accurate multiscale simulations of the system based on combined molecular dynamics and particle-in-cell approaches show that strong structural nonuniformity of the system under the action of electostatic trap makes development of instabilities a local process. We present both experimental tests conducted with a complex plasmas system in a DC glow discharge plasma and a detailed theoretical analysis.

We present the first observations of a square lattice formation in a monodisperse complex plasma system - a configurational transition phenomenon that has long been an experimental challenge in the field. The experiments are conducted in a tabletop L-shaped Dusty Plasma Experimental (DPEx-II) device in a DC glow discharge Argon plasma environment. By a careful control of the vertical potential confining the charged particles as well as the strength of the ion wake charge interactions with the dust particles we are able to steer the system towards a crystalline phase that exhibits a square lattice configuration. The transition occurs when the vertical confinement strength is slightly reduced below a critical value leading to a buckling of the monodisperse hexagonal 2D dust crystal to form a narrowly separated bilayer state (a quasi-2D state). Some theoretical insights into the transition process are provided through Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations carried out for the parameters relevant to our experiment.

The continued non-observation of events emanating from dark matter (DM) annihilations in various direct and indirect detection experiments calls into question the mechanism for determining the relic density of a weakly interacting massive particle. However, if the relic density is determined primarily by a semi-annihilation process, as opposed to the usual annihilation, this tension can be ameliorated. Here, we investigate a Z3 symmetric effective field theory incorporating a fermionic dark matter that semi-annihilates to right-handed neutrinos (RHN). The dynamics of the RHN and the impact of its late decays are also scrutinised while obtaining the correct DM relic. Finally, indirect detection bounds on the semi-annihilation cross-sections are drawn from the gamma-ray observations in the direction of Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxies (Fermi-LAT), and including the projections obtained for the H.E.S.S. and the CTA detectors.

Considering two scenarios: (a) three degenerate right-handed neutrinos whose Yukawa couplings are reconstructed from the observed neutrino masses and mixing; (b) only one right-handed neutrino which decouples from the observed neutrino mass generation and thus its coupling can be arbitrarily small, a detailed PYTHIA based simulation is performed to determine the parameter regions of the $B-L$ gauge boson mass, the neutrino Yukawa couplings, and the right-handed neutrino mass sensitive to CMS, ATLAS, proposed FCC-hh detector and MATHUSLA at the centre of mass energies of 14, 27 and 100 TeV via displaced signatures. We analyse all the relevant production processes that contribute to the dark matter relic abundance, and broadly classify them in two different scenarios, a) dark matter is primarily produced via the non-thermal production process, b) dark matter is produced mostly from the late decay of the next-to-lightest $\mathcal{Z}_2$-odd particle. We discuss the dependency of the relic abundance of the dark matter on various model parameters. We investigate the constraints on the leptoquark Yukawa couplings and Higgs-leptoquark quartic couplings for scalar doublet leptoquark $\tilde{R}_2$, scalar triplet leptoquark $\vec S_3$ and their combination with both three generations and one generation from perturbative unitarity and vacuum stability. Perturbative unitarity of all the dimensionless couplings have been studied via one- and two-loop beta-functions. Introduction of new $SU(2)$ multiplets in terms of these leptoquarks fabricate Landau poles at two-loop level in the gauge coupling $g_2$ at $10^{19.7}$ GeV and $10^{14.4}$ GeV, respectively for $\vec S_3$ and $\tilde{R}_2+\vec S_3$ models with three generations. However, such Landau pole ceases to exist for $\tilde{R}_2$ and any of these extensions with both one and two generations till Planck scale. The Higgs-leptoquark quartic couplings acquire severe constraints to protect Planck scale perturbativity, whereas leptoquark Yukawa couplings get some upper bound in order to respect Planck scale stability of Higgs Vacuum. The Higgs quartic coupling at two-loop constraints the leptoquark Yukawa couplings for $\tilde{R}_2,\vec S_3, \,\tilde{R}_2+\vec S_3$ with values $\lesssim 1.30, 3.90, 1.00$ with three generations. In the effective potential approach, the presence of any of these leptoquarks with any number of generations pushes the metastable vacuum of the Standard Model to the stable region.

In this article we examine the prospect of first order phase transition with a Y=0 real $SU(2)$ triplet extension of the Standard Model, which remains odd under $Z_2$, considering the observed Higgs boson mass, perturbative unitarity, dark matter constraints, etc. Especially we investigate the role of Higgs-triplet quartic coupling considering one- and two-loop beta functions and compare the results with the complex singlet extension case. It is observed that at the one-loop level, no solution can be found for both, demanding the Planck scale perturbativity. However, for a much lower scale of $10^4$ GeV, the singlet case predicts first order phase transition consistent with the observed Higgs boson mass. On the contrary, at the two-loop, both the scenarios foresee strongly first order phase transition consistent with the observed Higgs mass with upper bounds of 310, 909 GeV on the triplet and singlet masses, respectively. This puts the triplet in apparent contradiction with the observed dark matter relic bound and thus requires additional field for that. The preferred regions of the parameter space in both cases are identified by benchmark points, that predict the Gravitational Waves with detectable frequencies in the present and future experiments.

We report the first experimental observations of the reflection of a dust acoustic solitary wave from a potential barrier in a dusty plasma medium. The experiments have been carried out in an inverted $Π$-shaped Dusty Plasma Experimental (DPEx) device in a DC glow discharge plasma environment. The dust acoustic solitary wave is excited by modulating the plasma with a short negative Gaussian pulse that is superimposed over the discharge voltage. The solitary wave structure is seen to move towards a potential barrier, created by the sheath around a biased wire, and turn back after reflecting off the barrier. The amplitude, width, and velocity of the soliton are recorded as a function of time. The experiment is repeated for different strengths of the potential barrier and for different initial amplitudes of the solitary wave. It is found that the distance of the closest approach of the solitary wave to the centre of the barrier increases with the increase of the strength of the potential barrier and with the decrease of the initial wave amplitude. An emissive probe is used to measure the sheath potential and its thickness by measuring the plasma potential profile in the axial direction over a range of resistances connected to the biased wire. A modified Korteweg de Vries equation is derived and numerically solved to qualitatively understand the experimental findings.

While the hunt for new states beyond the standard model (SM) goes on for various well motivated theories, the leptoquarks are among the most appealing scenarios at recent times due to a series of tensions observed in $B$-meson decays. We consider $SU(2)$ singlet and triplet scalar leptoquarks separately, which contribute to charged and neutral current $B$-meson decays. Focusing on the single production of these two scalar leptoquarks, we perform a PYTHIA-based simulation considering all the dominant SM backgrounds at the current and future setups of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The mono-$b$-jet + $\ptmiss$ finalstate gives the strongest signal for the singlet leptoquark at the 30 TeV LHC or Future Circular Collider (FCC), with a possibility of $5σ$ signal significance with $\gtrsim 1000$ \fbi of integrated luminosity, for the chosen benchmark scenarios. The finalstate consisting of a $c$-jet and two $τ$-jets provides highest reach for the singlet leptoquark, probing an $\mathcal{O}(10^{-1})$ value of the Yukawa-type couplings for up to $3.0$ TeV leptoquark mass. For the triplet leptoquark, $1-{\rm jet}+2μ+ \ptmiss$ topology is the most optimistic signature at the LHC, probing leptoquark couplings to fermions at $\mathcal{O}(10^{-1})$ value for the leptoquark mass range up to $ 4.0$ TeV. The invariant mass edge distribution is found to be instrumental in determination of the leptoquark mass scale at the LHC. We also perform the analysis at the proposed multi-TeV muon collider, where an $\mathcal{O}(10^{-1})$ leptoquark Yukawa coupling can be probed for a $5.0$ TeV leptoquark mass.

In this article, we explore the possibility of displaced Higgs production from the decays of the heavy fermions in the Type-III seesaw extension of the Standard Model at the LHC/FCC and the muon collider. The displaced heavy fermions and the Higgs boson can be traced back by measuring the displaced charged tracks of the charged leptons along with the $b$-jets. A very small Yukawa coupling can lead to two successive displaced decays which makes the phenomenology even more interesting. The prospects of the transverse and longitudinal displaced decay lengths are extensively studied in the context of the boost at the LHC/FCC. Due to the parton distribution function, the longitudinal boosts leads to larger displacement compared to the transverse one, which can reach MATHUSLA and beyond. The longitudinal measurements are indeed possible by the visible part of the finalstate, which captures the complete information about the longitudinal momenta. The comparative studies are made at the LHC/FCC with the centre of mass energies of 14, 27 and 100 TeV, respectively. A futuristic study of the muon collider where the collision happen in the centre of mass frame is analysed for centre of mass energies of 3.5, 14 and 30 TeV. Contrary to LHC/FCC, here the transverse momentum diverges, however, the maximum reach in both the direction are identical due to the constant total momentum in each collision. The reach of the Yukawa couplings and fermion masses are appraised for both the colliders. FCC at 100 TeV can probe a mass of 4.25 TeV and a lowest Yukawa coupling of $\mathcal{O}(5 \times 10^{-11})$.

The creation of a spatially extended stable DC complex plasma crystal is a big experimental challenge and a topical area of research in the field of dusty plasmas. In this paper we describe a newly built and commissioned dusty plasma experimental device, DPEx-II, at the Institute for Plasma Research. The device can support the formation of large sized Coulomb crystals in a DC glow discharge plasma. The plasma in this L-shaped table-top glass chamber is produced between a circular anode and a long tray shaped cathode. It is characterized with the help of various electrostatic probes over a range of discharge conditions. The dust particles are introduced by a dust dispenser to form a strongly coupled Coulomb crystal in the cathode sheath region. The unique asymmetric electrode configuration minimizes the heating of dust particles and facilitates the formation of crystalline structures with a maximum achievable dimension of 40~cm X 15~cm using this device. A larger crystal has numerous advantages over smaller ones, such as higher structural homogeneity, fewer defects, lower statistical errors due to finite size effects etc.. A host of diagnostics tools are provided to characterize the Coulomb crystal. Results of a few initial experiments aimed at demonstrating the technical capabilities of the device and its potential for future dusty plasma research, are reported.

In this experimental work, the thermodynamics and self-organization of classical two-dimensional Coulomb clusters are studied as a function of the cluster size. The experiments are carried out in a DC glow discharge Argon plasma in the Dusty Plasma Experimental (DPEx) device for clusters with different number of particles. Hexagonal symmetry around each individual particle is quantified using the local orientational order parameter ($|{ψ_6}|$) for all the configurations. The screened Coulomb coupling parameter, which plays a key role in determining the thermodynamic nature of a Coulomb cluster, is estimated using Langevin dynamics and found to be sensitive to the number of particles present in the cluster. In addition, the process of self-organization and the dynamics of individual particles of the cluster as it changes from a metastable state to the ground state are examined through the estimation of dynamic entropy. Our findings suggest an intimate link between the configurational ordering and the thermodynamics of a strongly coupled Coulomb cluster system - an insight that might be of practical value in analysing and controlling the micro dynamics of a wider class of finite systems.

We show how angular distributions can distinguish different scenarios beyond the standard model by characterising particles of different spins at the LHC. We illustrate the idea with scalar and vector leptoquarks along with the heavy fermions in Type-III seesaw as spin zero, spin one and spin half examples respectively. On the other hand, zeros of single photon tree level amplitude can separate different particles according their electromagnetic charges. This phenomenon can be used to distinguish leptoquarks of different gauge representations, even different excitations of same $SU(2)_L$ gauge group, within the same spin frame work. We explore electron-photon and electron-hadron colliders to discern such scenarios in the context of the leptoquark models by means of zeros in scattering amplitudes. We found that the discerning effect in these two colliders are complementary to each other and both of them are required for an exhaustive analysis of leptoquark models. The analyses are carried out for different leptoquark masses and centre of mass energies of the collisions which involve a PYTHIA based simulation.

The occurrence of Simpson's paradox (SP) in $2\times 2$ contingency tables has been well studied. The present work comprehensively revisits this problem using a combination of philosophical reflections, causal considerations, and probability theory. The first contribution is to provide a schematic analysis of SP in $2\times 2$ contingency tables and present new results, detailed proofs of previous results and a unifying view of the important examples of SP that have been reported in the literature. The second contribution of the paper suggests a new perspective on the surprise element of SP, raises some critical questions regarding the influential causal analyses of SP and provides a broad perspective on logic, probability, and statistics with SP at its center. The upshot of this research is that we need both causal concepts and statistical tools coupled with philosophical analyses to sort out issues regarding SP.

Pinned solitons are a special class of nonlinear solutions created by a supersonically moving object in a fluid. They move with the same velocity as the moving object and thereby remain pinned to the object. A well known hydrodynamical phenomenon, they have been shown to exist in numerical simulation studies but to date have not been observed experimentally in a plasma. In this paper we report the first experimental excitation of pinned solitons in a dusty (complex) plasma flowing over a charged obstacle. The experiments are performed in a Π shaped Dusty Plasma Experimental (DPEx) device in which a dusty plasma is created in the background of a DC glow discharge Ar plasma using micron sized kaolin dust particles. A biased copper wire creates a potential structure that acts as a stationary charged object over which the dust fluid is made to flow at a highly supersonic speed. Under appropriate conditions nonlinear stationary structures are observed in the laboratory frame that correspond to pinned structures moving with the speed of the obstacle in the frame of the moving fluid. A systematic study is made of the propagation characteristics of these solitons by carefully tuning the flow velocity of the dust fluid by changing the height of the potential structure. It is found that the nature of the pinned solitons changes from a single humped one to a multi-humped one and their amplitudes increase with an increase of the flow velocity of the dust fluid. The experimental findings are then qualitatively compared with the numerical solutions of a model forced Korteweg de Vries (fKdV) equation.

We consider the Bose-Einstein (BE) and Fermi-Dirac (FD) statistics, along with the thermal mass correction of the SM Higgs boson in our analysis. We show that in addition to the SM Higgs boson, the annihilation and decay of the $B-L$ scalar can also contribute substantially to the dark matter relic density. Potential effects of electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB) and thermal mass correction in BE framework enhance the dark matter relic substantially as it freezes-in near EWSB temperature via scalar annihilation. However, such effects are not so prominent when the dark matter freezes-in at a later epoch than EWSB, dominantly by decay of scalars. The results of this analysis are rather generic, and applicable to other similar scenarios.

Distinguishing such scenarios at the colliders would be one of the first goals if we receive some hint of those. We show how various leptonic colliders can play a role of complementarity in segregating such scenarios and the angular distributions can be instrumental, which carry the information of the matrix element. In this study we consider an extension of the Standard Model with a complex hypercharge zero triplet scalar. In this scenario one of the charged Higgs bosons remains purely triplet and does not couple to the fermions, making it elusive at colliders. Also the physical pseudoscalar is a pure triplet and this purity makes it a suitable dark matter candidate without the need of discrete symmetries, unlike other extensions. The bounds from relic density and direct dark matter search experiments select its mass to be $\sim 1.35-1.60$ TeV. The pure triplet charged Higgs gives rise to displaced signatures and their sensitivity at LHC and MATHUSLA have been studied. The prospects at present and future hadron/muon colliders of such exotic scalars are pointed out by calculating their productions cross-section and dominant decay modes. We present also the expected reach for the triplet states at a multi-TeV muon collider.

We consider the extension of the Standard Model (SM) with an inert Higgs doublet that also contains two or three sets of $SU(2)_L$ triplet fermions with hypercharge zero and analyze the stability of electroweak vacuum for the scenarios. The model represents a Type-III inverse seesaw mechanism for neutrino mass generation with a Dark matter candidate. An effective potential approach calculation with two-loop beta function have been carried out in deciding the fate of the electroweak vacuum. Weak gauge coupling $g_2$ shows a different behaviour as compared to the Standard Model. The modified running of $g_2$, along with the Higgs quartic coupling and Type-III Yukawa couplings become crucial in determining the stability of electroweak vacuum. The interplay between two and three generations of such triplet fermions reveals that extensions with two generations is favoured if we aspire for Planck scale stability. Bounds on the Higgs quartic couplings, Type-III Yukawa and number of triplet fermion generations are drawn for different mass scale of Type-III fermions. The phenomenologies of inert doublet and Type-III fermions at the LHC and other experiments are commented upon.

It has been found that hard scattering cross-sections and angular distributions can be used to differentiate scalar and vector Leptoquarks. On the other hand, final state topology and determination of jet charge can separate \LQs with same spin even from same $SU(2)_L$ multiplet. We performed a PYTHIA8 based analysis considering all the dominant Standard Model (SM) backgrounds at the LHC/FCC with centre of mass energies of 14, 27 and 100 TeV for scalar ($S_1$) and vector ($\widetilde{U}_{1μ}$) Leptoquarks. We see that confirming evidence of scalar Leptoquark at 14 TeV requires 1000 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity, whereas the vector Leptoquark can be probed with very early data. But, at 100 TeV with 1000 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity, scalar Leptoquark of mass 3.5 TeV and vector Leptoquark of mass more than 5 TeV can be probed easily.

An experimental investigation of the propagation characteristics of shock waves in an inhomogeneous dusty plasma is carried out in the Dusty Plasma Experimental (DPEx) device. A homogeneous dusty plasma, made up of poly-dispersive kaolin particles, is initially formed in a DC glow discharge Argon plasma by maintaining a dynamic equilibrium of the pumping speed and the gas feeding rate. Later, an equilibrium density inhomogeneity in the dust fluid is created by introducing an imbalance in the original dynamic equilibrium. Non-linear wave structures are then excited in this inhomogeneous dusty plasma by a sudden compression in the dust fluid. These structures are identified as shock waves and their amplitude and width profiles are measured spatially. The amplitude of a shock structure is seen to increase whereas the width broadens as it propagates down a decreasing dust density profile. A modified-KdV-Burger equation is derived and used to provide a theoretical explanation of the results including the power law scaling of the changes in the amplitude and width as a function of the background density.

In this article we consider a comparative study between Type-I 2HDM and $Y=0$, $SU(2)$ triplet extensions having one $Z_2$-odd doublet and triplet that render the desired dark matter(DM). For the inert doublet model (IDM) either a neutral scalar or pseudoscalar can be the DM, whereas for inert triplet model (ITM) it is a CP-even scalar. The bounds from perturbativity and vacuum stability are studied for both the scenarios by calculating the two-loop beta functions. While the quartic couplings are restricted to $0.1-0.2$ for a Planck scale perturbativity for IDM, these are much relaxed ($0.8$ ) for ITM. The RG-improved potentials by Coleman-Weinberg show the regions of stability, meta-stability and instability of the electroweak vacuum. The constraints coming from DM relic, the direct and indirect experiments like XENON1T, LUX and H.E.S.S., Fermi-LAT allow the DM mass $\gtrsim 700, \,1176$ GeV for IDM, ITM respectively. Though mass-splitting among $Z_2$-odd particles in IDM is a possibility for ITM we have to rely on loop-corrections. The phenomenological signatures at the LHC show that the mono-lepton plus missing energy with prompt and displaced decays in the case of IDM and ITM can distinguish such scenarios at the LHC along with other complementary modes.

In this paper we have shown how zeros of single photon tree-level amplitude can be used to extract information about leptoquarks in case of $e$-$γ$ colliders. Small number of standard model backgrounds keep the signal clean in this kind of colliders. Unlike other colliders, the zeros of single photon amplitude here depend on $\sqrt{s}$ as well as the mass of leptoquark along with its electric charge. We perform a PYTHIA based simulation for reconstructing the leptoquark from its decay products of first generation and estimating the background with luminosity of 100 fb$^{-1}$. Our analysis is done for all the leptoquarks that can be seen at $e$-$γ$ collider with three different masses (70 GeV, 650 GeV and 1 TeV) and three different centre of momentum energy (200 GeV, 2 TeV and 3 TeV). The effects of non-monochromatic photons on the zeros of amplitude under laser backscattering and equivalent photon approximation have also been addressed.

We analyze the vacuum stability in the inert Higgs doublet extension of the Standard Model (SM), augmented by right-handed neutrinos (RHNs) to explain neutrino masses at tree level by the seesaw mechanism. We make a comparative study of the high- and low-scale seesaw scenarios and the effect of the Dirac neutrino Yukawa couplings on the stability of the Higgs potential. Bounds on the scalar quartic couplings and Dirac Yukawa couplings are obtained from vacuum stability and perturbativity considerations. The regions corresponding to stability, metastability and instability of the electroweak vacuum are identified. These theoretical constraints give a very predictive parameter space for the couplings and masses of the new scalars and RHNs which can be tested at the LHC and future colliders. The lightest non-SM neutral CP-even/odd scalar can be a good dark matter candidate and the corresponding collider signatures are also predicted for the model.

We report on experimental observations on the modifications in the propagation characteristics of precursor solitons due to the different shapes and sizes of the object over which the dust fluid flows. The experiments have been performed in a $Π$ shaped Dusty Plasma Experimental (DPEx) device where dusty plasma is created in a DC glow discharge Ar plasma using kaolin particles. A floating copper wire installed radially on the cathode, acts as a charged object in the plasma environment. The flow on the dust fluid is initiated by suddenly lowering the potential of the charged object from grounded potential to close to floating potential. The size (height and width) of the potential hill is then varied by drawing current from the wire through a variable resistance. With a decrease in the height of the potential hill, the amplitude, velocity and the number of exciting precursor solitons are found to decrease whereas the widths of the solitons are seen to increase. It is found that below a threshold value these solitary waves are not excited and the dust fluid simply flows over the hill. To examine the effect due to the shape of the potential profiles, the wire is replaced by a triangular object. Only trailing wakes are seen to be excited when the dust fluid faces the linearly increasing slope of the potential profile whereas both solitons and wakes get excited when the object is placed with the sharp edge facing the flow. All the experimental findings qualitatively agree with numerical solutions obtained with different source terms in the forced-Korteweg de Vries (f-KdV) model equation.

The light charged Higgs boson has been searched in the main $τν$ mode at the colliders. Invoking a scenario of inverse seesaw as the origin of neutrino masses and mixing, the charged Higgs boson can decay additionally to right-handed neutrinos which leads to interesting phenomenology. Considering generic lepton flavour violating signatures at the final states, a $5σ$ discovery can be achieved with the early data of LHC, at 14 TeV, for relatively large inverse seesaw Yukawa coupling $Y_N$. The very light pseudoscalar and charged Higgs boson mass reconstruction are performed using the new modes and the results look promising. Dusty plasma crystals have traditionally been observed and studied in radio frequency (RF) discharge plasmas and their formation in a DC glow discharge plasma remains experimentally challenging. We report the first ever observation of a stable dusty plasma Coulomb crystal in the cathode sheath region of a DC glow discharge plasma. The observations are made in the DPEx device where crystals of mono-disperse Melamine Formaldehyde grains are produced in the background of an Argon plasma. The crystalline nature of the structure is confirmed through a host of measurements that includes the radial pair correlation function, Voronoi diagram, Delaunay Triangulation, the structural order parameter, the dust temperature and the Coulomb coupling parameter. The special features of the DPEx device that permit such a crystal formation are delineated and some principal physical features of the crystal discussed.

We explore the possibility of having superpartners of triplet Higgs bosons, named as 'triplinos'. They form a part of light neutralinos and charginos in a $Y=0$ extended supersymmetric Standard Model. For this model such electroweakinos do not have direct couplings to the Standard Model fermions. On top of that, due to very compressed spectrum for lighter neutralinos and charginos, their decay products coming from three body decays are very soft and thus can evade the current collider bounds. These decays are particularly interesting since they give rise to displaced leptonic signatures. We categorise the parameter space, while exploring different displaced decay possibilities. A PYTHIA based simulation has been performed to find out the displaced charged lepton, jet and $b$-jet final states at the LHC with center of mass energy of 14 TeV.

The electron sheath formation in a DC magnetised plasma of modified hollow cathode source is studied. The discharge consists of two plane parallel cathodes and a small cubical anode placed off axis at the center. The argon plasma is produced and the properties of the plasma in response to the sheath formation near the anode are studied using electrical and optical diagnostics. In particular, the effect of pressure, magnetic field on discharge parameters such as discharge current, plasma potential, plasma density and electron temperature is studied. The discharge showed an onset of anode glow at a critical applied magnetic field indicating the formation of electron sheath and a double layer. The discharge current initially decreases; however it starts to rise again as the anode spot appears on the anode. The critical magnetic field at which anode glow formation takes place is dependent upon operating pressure and discharge voltage. The transition from ion sheath to electron sheath is investigated in detail by Langmuir probe and spectroscopy diagnostics. The plasma potential near the anode decreases during the transition from ion sheath to electron sheath. The plasma potential locks to the ionization potential of argon gas when anode spot is completely formed. A systematic study showed that during the transition, the electron temperature increases and plasma density decreases in the bulk plasma. The spectroscopy of the discharge showed presence of strong atomic and ionic lines of argon. The intensity of these spectral lines showed a dip during the transition between two sheaths. After the formation of the anode spot, oscillations of the order of 5-20 kHz are observed in the discharge current and floating potential due to the enhanced ionisation and excitation processes in the electron sheath.

We present a detailed experimental study of gas flow induced motion of dust particles in a DC glow discharge plasma. The characteristics of the dust dynamics are investigated as a function of the differential gas flow rate, the background neutral pressure, the dust particle size as well as the neutral species of the gas. The experiments have been carried out in the table top Dusty Plasma Experimental (DPEx) device in which a plasma is created between a disk shaped anode and a grounded cathode in a $Π$-shaped pyrex glass tube. The asymptotic steady state flow velocity of the injected micron sized dust particles is found to increase with an increase of neutral flow velocity and decrease with an increase in the background pressure. Furthermore, this velocity is seen to be independent of the size of the dust particles but decreases with an increase in the mass of the background gas. A simple theoretical model, based on estimates of the various forces acting on the dust particles, is used to elucidate the role of neutrals in the flow dynamics of the dust particles. Our experiments thus provide a detailed microscopic understanding of some of the past phenomenological observations of dust flows in the DPEx device and can prove useful in future experimental implementations of dust flow experiments.

We report the experimental observation of dynamical behavior of flowing complex plasma past a spherical obstacle. The experiment has been carried out in a $Π$-shaped DC glow discharge experimental device using kaolin particles as the dust component in a background of Argon plasma. A stationary dust cloud is formed by maintaining the pumping speed and gas flow rate. A spherical obstacle vertically mounted on the cathode tray acts as an obstacle to the flow of dust particles. The controlled dust flow is generated by reducing the mass flow of the neutrals through a mass flow controller. The flowing dust particles are repelled by the electrostatic field of the negatively charged sphere and a microparticle free region (dust void) is formed surrounding the obstacle. The far particles are attracted towards the floating obstacle and reflected back when they have arrived at a minimum distance, causing a ring shaped structure around the obstacle. We characterize the shape of this structure over a range of dust flow speeds and obstacle biases. For a supersonic flow of dust fluid around a negatively biased obstacle, a bow shock is formed on the upstream side of the sphere, while the generation of wave structures is observed on the downstream side for a particular range of flow velocities. Reynolds numbers in this case is estimated as $R_e \gtrsim 50$. This wave structure reminds of the beginning of the formation of a Von-Kármán vortex street. A physical picture for the observed structure based on ion-drag, neutral streaming and electric forces is discussed.

We investigate the Standard Model (SM) extended with a colored charged scalar, leptoquark, having fractional electromagnetic charge $-1/3$. We mostly focus on the decays of the leptoquark into second and third generations via $c\,μ, t\, τ$ decay modes. We perform a PYTHIA-based simulation considering all the dominant SM backgrounds at the LHC with 14\,TeV center of mass energy. Limits have been calculated for the leptoquark mass that can be probed at the LHC with an integrated luminosity of 3000 fb$^{-1}$. The leptoquark mass, reconstructed from its decay products into the third generation, has the maximum reach. However, the $μ+ c$ channel, comprising a very hard muon and $c$-jet produces a much cleaner mass peak. Single leptoquark production in association with a $μ$ or $ν$ provides some unique signatures that can also be probed at the LHC.

In this paper, the collective dynamics of the large aspect ratio dusty plasma is studied over a wide range of discharge parameters. An inductively coupled diffused plasma, which creates an electrostatic trap to confine the negatively charged grains, is used to form a large volume (or large aspect ratio) dusty plasma at low pressure. For introducing the dust grains into the potential well, a unique technique using a secondary DC glow discharge plasma is employed. The dust dynamics is recorded in a 2-dimension (2D) plane at a given axial location. The dust fluid exhibits wave like behavior at low pressure (p < 0.06 mbar) and high rf power (P > 3 W). The mixed motion, waves and vortices, are observed at an intermediate gas pressure(p = 0.08 mbar) and low power (P < 3 W). Above the threshold value of gas pressure (p > 0.1 mbar), the clockwise and anti-clockwise co-rotating vortex series are observed on the edges of the dust cloud, whereas the particles in central region show the random motion. These vortices are only observed above a threshold width of the dust cloud. The streaming ions are considered the available free energy source to excite the waves in dust grain medium. The occurrence of the co-rotating vortices is understood on the basis of the charge gradient of dust particles which is orthogonal to the gravity. The charge gradient is a consequence of the plasma inhomogeneity from the central region to the outer edge of dust fluid. Since, a vortex has the characteristic size in the dissipative medium; therefore, a series of the co-rotating vortex on the both sides of dusty plasma is observed. The experimental results on the vortex formation and its multiplicity are compared to an available theoretical model and are found to be in close agreement.

We study memory based random walk models to understand diffusive motion in crowded heterogeneous environment. The models considered are non-Markovian as the current move of the random walk models is determined by randomly selecting a move from history. At each step, particle can take right, left or stay moves which is correlated with the randomly selected past step. There is a perfect stay-stay correlation which ensures that the particle does not move if the randomly selected past step is a stay move. The probability of traversing the same direction as the chosen history or reversing it depends on the current time and the time or position of the history selected. The time or position dependent biasing in moves implicitly corresponds to the heterogeneity of the environment and dictates the long-time behavior of the dynamics that can be diffusive, sub or super diffusive. A combination of analytical solution and Monte Carlo simulation of different random walk models gives rich insight on the effects of correlations on the dynamics of a system in heterogeneous environment.

A novel technique to measure potential profiles in a plasma based on the visualization of charged tracer dust particles is reported. The method is used to experimentally determine the potential around a grounded wire that is mounted on the cathode of a DC glow discharge Argon plasma produced in a $Π$--shaped Dusty Plasma Experimental (DPEx) device. The tracer particles, consisting of a few micron sized mono-dispersive Melamine Formaldehyde (MF) grains, are made to flow over the grounded wire by suitable variations in the background gas flow. By a visual tracking of the individual particle trajectories, that yields their positions and velocities at various times, the potential values at these positions are directly estimated by using energy conservation arguments. The results agree very well with conventional probe based measurements. The technique is free of some of the inherent limitations of probe based diagnostics and offers a direct and minimally invasive means of visualizing potential profiles in a plasma.

Extending the Standard Model (SM) scalar sector via one or multiple Higgs field(s) in higher representation brings one or more charged Higgs bosons in the spectrum. Some of these gauge representations with appropriate hypercharge can bring up doubly charged Higgs boson and can be easily distinguished from the existing models with only singly charged Higgs boson. In this study we focus on distinguishing the singly charged Higgs bosons from different representations, viz. doublets and triplets of $SU(2)_L$ gauge group. We consider a supersymmetric extension of SM with a gauge singlet and $SU(2)_L$ triplet with $Y=0$ as a benchmark scenario with the possibility of rich phenomenology due to existence of light pseudoscalar for $Z_3$ symmetric superpotential. A detailed collider simulation considering all the SM backgrounds has been carried out in order to classify the final states which are favourable to charged Higgs boson from one particular representation than others. We show that such different representations can be probed an distinguished via looking at single charged Higgs boson phenomenology at the LHC with 14 TeV center of mass energy within $\sim 50$ fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity.
