Complex quantum systems and their various applications are susceptible to noise of coherent and incoherent nature. Characterization of noise and its sources is an open, key challenge in quantum technology applications, especially in terms of distinguishing between inherent incoherent noise and systematic coherent errors. In this paper, we study a scheme of repeated sequential measurements that enables the characterization of incoherent errors by reducing the effects of coherent errors. We demonstrate this approach using a coherently controlled Nitrogen Vacancy in diamond, coupled to both a natural nuclear spin bath (non-Markovian) and to experimentally controlled relaxation through an optical pumping process (nearly Markovian). Our results show mitigation of coherent errors both for Markovian and Non-Markovian incoherent noise profiles. We apply this scheme to the estimation of the dephasing time ($T_2^*$) due to incoherent noise. We observe an improved robustness against coherent errors in the estimation of dephasing time ($T_2^*$) compared to the standard (Ramsey) measurement.

For smooth families with maximal variation, whose general fibers have semi-ample canonical bundle, the generalized Viehweg hyperbolicity conjecture states that the base spaces of such families are of log general type. This deep conjecture was recently proved by Popa-Schnell using the theory of Hodge modules and a theorem by Campana-Păun. In this paper we prove that those base spaces are pseudo Kobayashi hyperbolic, as predicted by the Lang conjecture: any complex quasi-projective manifold is pseudo Kobayashi hyperbolic if it is of log general type. As a consequence, we prove the Brody hyperbolicity of moduli spaces of polarized manifolds with semi-ample canonical bundle. This proves a conjecture by Viehweg-Zuo in 2003. We also prove the Kobayashi hyperbolicity of base spaces of effectively parametrized families of minimal projective manifolds of general type. This generalizes previous work by To-Yeung, in which they further assumed that these families are canonically polarized.

Abstract:
The measurements of both spontaneous and stimulated emissions of radiation in the newly configured Israeli EA-FEL are made for the first time. The radiation at the W-band was measured and characterized. The results match the predictions of our earlier theoretical modeling and calculations.

This article contains the results of two types. First we give a complete characterization of band preserving projection operators on Dedekind complete vector lattices. This is done in Theorem~3.4. Let us mention also Theorem~3.2 that contains a description of such operators on arbitrary laterally complete vector lattices. The central role in these descriptions is played by d-bases, one of two principal tools utilized in our work [{\it Inverses of Disjointness Preserving Operators}, Memoirs of the Amer. Math. Soc., forthcoming]. The concept of a d-basis has been applied so far only to vector lattices with a large amount of projection bands. The absence of the projection bands has been the major obstacle for extending, otherwise very useful concept of d-bases, to arbitrary vector lattices. In Section~4 we overcome this obstacle by finding a new way to introduce d-independence in an arbitrary vector lattice. This allows us to produce a new definition of a d-basis which is free of the existence of projection bands. We illustrate this by proving several results devoted to cardinality of d-bases. Theorems~4.13 and~4.15 are the main of them and they assert that, under very general conditions, a vector lattice either has a singleton d-basis of else this d-basis must be infinite.

Abstract:
Answering in the affirmative a question posed in [Y.A.Abramovich, C.D.Aliprantis and O.Burkinshaw, Multiplication and compact-friendly operators, Positivity 1 (1997), 171--180], we prove that a positive multiplication operator on any $L_p$-space (resp. on a $C(Ω)$-space) is compact-friendly if and only if the multiplier is constant on a set of positive measure (resp. on a non-empty open set).…

Answering in the affirmative a question posed in [Y.A.Abramovich, C.D.Aliprantis and O.Burkinshaw, Multiplication and compact-friendly operators, Positivity 1 (1997), 171--180], we prove that a positive multiplication operator on any $L_p$-space (resp. on a $C(Ω)$-space) is compact-friendly if and only if the multiplier is constant on a set of positive measure (resp. on a non-empty open set).
In the process of establishing this result, we also prove that any multiplication operator has a family of hyperinvariant bands -- a fact that does not seem to have appeared in the literature before. This provides useful information about the commutant of a multiplication operator.

When each continuous operator is regular, II

The following theorem is essentially due to L.~Kantorovich and B. Vulikh and it describes one of the most important classes of Banach lattices between which each continuous operator is regular. {\bf Theorem 1.1.} {\sl Let $E$ be an arbitrary L-space and $F$ be an arbitrary Banach lattice with Levi norm. Then ${\cal L}(E,F)={\cal L}^r(E,F),\ (\star) $ that is, every continuous operator from $E$ to $F$ is regular.}
In spite of the importance of this theorem it has not yet been determined to what extent the Levi condition is essential for the validity of equality $(\star)$. Our main aim in this work is to prove a converse to this theorem by showing that for a Dedekind complete $F$ the Levi condition is necessary for the validity of $(\star)$.
As a sample of other results we mention the following. {\bf Theorem~3.6.} {\sl For a Banach lattice $F$ the following are equivalent: {\rm (a)} $F$ is Dedekind complete; {\rm (b)} For all Banach lattices $E$, the space ${\cal L}^r(E,F)$ is a Dedekind complete vector lattice; {\rm (c)} For all L-spaces $E$, the space ${\cal L}^r(E,F)$ is a vector lattice.}

Abstract:
The following theorem is the main result of this note. Theorem 1. Let $(E, \|\cdot\|_E) $ be a rearrangement invariant Banach function space on the interval $[0, 1]$. If $E$ is isometric to $Ł_p [0, 1]$ for some $1\le p<\infty$, then $E$ coincides with $Ł_p [0, 1]$ and furthermore $\|\cdot\|_E = λ\|\cdot\|_{Ł_p}$, where $λ= \|{\bf 1}\|_E$.
