Solozzo then tried to have Vito Killed leaving him hospitalized. Sonny demanded the Tattaglia Family turn Solozzo over or he would wage war. When they refused Sonny ordered the death of Don Phillip's son Bruno. Sonny reluctantly allowed Michael to meet With Sollozzo and Mark Mcluskey so he could Kill them and arranged for a gun to be planted there.these murders forced Michael into hiding. Sonny also Violently beat Carlo Rizzi Who was being an abusive husband to his sister Connie but spared his life as he could not bear to Kill a helpless human being. Using this Tattaglia's partner Emilio Barzini recruited Carlo into a plan to Kill Sonny. Carlo deliberately provoked Sonny into rushing over to Kill him by viciously beating Connie Which allowed Barzini's men to shoot him dead before he could arrive. Michael, Tom and Vito were all devastated by his death along with the rest of his family.
