Blackout is a major antagonist of the 2007 Transformers film. A Megatron loyalist, he transforms into a Sikorsky MH-53 helicopter.
History[]
Defiance[]
In the distant past, Blackout was a member of the Cybertronian Defense Force. During an attack by aliens on the city of Metrotitan, he could be seen picking up a wrecked enemy tank. In the aftermath of the attack, Megatron consulted with the mysterious relic dug up near Simfur and declared a military dictatorship over Cybertron. Blackout followed Megatron and the other flight-capable soldiers into battle, using his powers to disrupt the enemy flagship's targeting array.
After science division leader Optimus survived an attempted kidnapping by Starscream's squadron, Megatron declared him and his followers traitors, and reformed the army as the Decepticons.

- Blackout was originally intended to be Soundwave in early drafts.
- Blackout never speaks english in the film, unlike the video game, only Cybertronian.
- Blackout's body model was reused as Grindor, leading to confusion over the two's identities.
