Lost identity/account and game data with a new content patch download

I'm a longtime Plants vs. Zombies2 player.  Two nights ago when I opened your app on my devices,  a new content patch was downloaded.  After the download, the game started as if I was a totally new player with tutorial and none of my saved gems, coins, plants, etc.  I play on both my iPad and iPhone under two different player names.  One identity with 2 player names. This occurred on both devices.

 I signed into my account with my email in the cloud.  I rebooted both devices.  I deleted and reloaded the game app.  Nothing worked.  All my saved info/data was gone.

 

I had a chat session yesterday with an EA advisor and was able to have my identity/account restored with both player names on my iPhone.  We were unable to do the same on my iPad. I get a Warning screen when I try and choose an identity.  I was told by advisor not to proceed. 

 

Another chat session today revealed your team is aware of this problem and is working on it.  I was told to post this issue on this page to receive updates from your team as to when the issue is resolved.  Looking forward to receiving updates!  Thanks!

Lost progress

So I was trying to link my EA account to another device and then both devices sent me to the beggining of the game. Not only is the linking accounts not working, but it makes you lose your progress too. Ive been working hard on that account and hope that it will be found.

Are you using an iOS (Apple) device?    I ask because from the many resent reports of PVZ2 account progress reset problems, it seems the majority players suffered from this bug are using Apple devices.  

 

If my suspicions is right, I think iOS users need to avoid force syncing their devices to minimise the rsk of havingtheir account reset to new player.

Thak you for sharing the details but I suggest you edit out your player ID before posting it on the open forum.  It seems the recent update introduced a nasty bug to iOS platfrom where random players finding their account being reset to become a new starter.

I think you need to follow the help center link at the bottom of this page to get help from the advisor.  

Note: You will need to provide your original player ID or the advisor will not be able to help restoring your progress.

I am in the same boat.   The latest update not only lost all my progress but lost my player id.  This is inexcusable!  I would think that they should be able to figure out which of the saved players I am given enough other information:

Apple Game Center info

My player name that I use in Arena battles

My estimates as to how many coins/gauntlets.etc. I had

A list of all the plants I have acquired

My status in all 11 worlds including the 11 "infinite" worlds

Fortunately for me, I never paid for upgrades - I just used coins.  Imagine how you'd feel if you had spent big $$$ and they told you they could not help...

 

I would think they would proactively reach out to us to at least let us know they care...
