The next book in the red-hot RECKLESS series is here!

"Oh man, this book pushed every crime fiction button for me...Bliss." —PATTON OSWALT

Bestselling crime noir masters ED BRUBAKER and SEAN PHILLIPS bring us a new original graphic novel starring troublemaker-for-hire Ethan Reckless.

It's 1988, and Ethan has been hired for his strangest case yet: finding the secrets of a Los Angeles real estate mogul. How hard could that be, right? But what starts as a deep dive into the life of a stranger will soon take a deadly turn, and Ethan will risk everything that still matters to him.

Another smash hit from the award-winning creators of RECKLESS, PULP, MY HEROES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN JUNKIES, CRIMINAL, and KILL OR BE KILLED—and a must-have for all BRUBAKER and PHILLIPS fans!

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Private-eye tropes like decadent upper-crust parties and corrupt cops abound, while sudden action scenes cut through Ethan's hazy, guilt-ridden flashback narration, such as when he smashed a drug pusher's face with a skateboard. It all feels less like a self-contained story than a prelude for a dark implosion heading Ethan's way. Series fans will ride along in anticipation." -Publishers Weekly

"Phillips imbues the sun-drenched splendor of Southern California with a nostalgic mournfulness perfectly keyed to Brubaker's script. Focusing on the fragile bond between Ethan and Anna exposes new depths in both of the characters, while building to a wrenchingly emotional climax." -

This series is something special. I am completely hooked and can't put the volumes down. This is an example of taking three art forms --the pulp novel, the graphic novel, and the grindhouse film -- and turning it into some beautiful, monstrous, hybrid art form. Just love it.

I'll preface this by saying that I read a lot of graphic novels, particularly in the crime genre, but until now I've never really crossed over into being what I would call a 'fanboy' - the Reckless series, and Destroy All Monsters is no exception - has changed all of that. I worship the mind of Ed Brubaker and Reckless is (to date) his finest bit of work. Destroy All Monsters is the strongest of 3 (so far) books that I've read over and over, completely immersed, entertained, and horrified by his imagination.

Brubaker & Phillips' 3rd Reckless novel delves into redlining, political corruption, and murderous impunity amid the sprawl of '80s L.A. Themes from Chinatown blended with The Wire, you might say. Within this neo-noir framework, we learn how Reckless met Anna and see their friendship tested by her growth and his fear of change. A very satisfying read, for the vivid characters and immersive setting.

Ed Brubaker is a genius of human character and emotion. His hard boiled plots are unique and familiar all at the same time. Sean Phillips continue’s to be an outstanding collaborator of Ed, making you feel every emotion on every characters face, and every hit Ethan takes in this story. A must have in my book

Brubaker is on a winning streak. Though the first Reckless book is still my favorite, this book has a great story reminiscent of Chinatown. Political intrigue, blackmail, and depravity abound. The ending is a gut punch, and makes me anxious for the next installment!!

Top Story.
Farbgebung von Phillipss wird annehmbarer. Hat wahrscheinlich von Daddy nen neuen Satz Buntstifte bekommen. An das Niveau von Elisabeth wird er wohl nie rankommen.

Not bad at all, great artwork & storyline, they are starting to get a bit too expensive for me though so I won’t be buying anymore at these prices …
