Björk's sixth studio album will be the sixth full-length studio album from Icelandic singer Björk, a follow-up to 2004's Medúlla. It is expected to be released on May 7, 2007 (International release). [1] Björk herself has said nothing of the theme of the album, though collaborator Timbaland has described the new material as "hip hop" and recently said the following: [2]
Whoo! The marriage, it's beautiful. You gotta hear it! A lot of people think it's weird her working with me, but I think it's how she sings on top of my beats that make it.
Collaborators
- Timbaland (R&B and hip hop producer; sixteen tracks were recorded in Studio 4 at Manhattan Center Studios in New York City, USA. Jimmy Douglas and Halsey Quemere were engineer and assistant engineer respectively in the sessions) [3] [4] [5]
- Antony Hegarty (Frontman and lead singer of the band Antony and the Johnsons; tracks were recorded in Jamaica) [6]
- Brian Chippendale (Drummer/vocalist in the band Lightning Bolt)
- Chris Corsano (Drummer)
- Toumani Diabate (Malian kora player)
- Mark Bell (Musician and record producer; has been a previous collaborator since the album Homogenic)
- Sjón (Lyricist; has previously written the songs "Bachelorette" and "Oceania")
- Konono N°1 (Musical group from Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo; tracks recorded in June 2006 in Brussels) [7]
Concerts
Björk will be going on tour in 2007 in support of the album, her first in four years. [8] She has been working with drummer Darrin Costin as part of preparations for this tour. [9] Confirmed dates are as follows, the majority of which are festivals.
- Headlining at the Coachella Festival in the USA on April 27th [10]
- Glastonbury Festival in England which takes place between 22nd-24th June [11]
- Heineken Open'er Festival in Poland which takes place between June 29th-July 1st [12]
- Roskilde Festival in Denmark which takes place between the 5-8th of July [13]
- Concert at the Arena of Nîmes in France on August 23rd [14]
- Rock en Seine in France in August [15]
