In platypuses, the male sex is heterogametic while the female sex is the homogametic sex.

Illiustration is wrong, in Drosophila flies Y chromosome doesn't play part in sex determination. Sex is determined by ratio of X chromosomes to autosomes, Y chromosome is only necessary for fertility of male flies, and flies with XXY genotype will develop as female flies.

As the two topics above have demonstrated, this page can badly deteriorate. I suggest merging it into Sex-determination system which is a much larger page. That might make maintenance easier. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 00:27, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
