Frylon IV was the fourth planet in the Frylon system, located in Federation space. The planet's surface featured jungles with a profusion of native life, including bioluminescent plants and a type of bird. Their bioelectric signatures made it impossible to pinpoint specific lifeforms using sensors.
In 2381, two Denobulans studying flora on Frylon IV were attacked by a mugato, which was not native to the planet. An away team from the USS Cerritos discovered that it came from a camp of Ferengi poachers, led by Kynk, who were trafficking in mugato parts. After a violent confrontation during which almost the entire team was captured, Ensigns Brad Boimler and Sam Rutherford convinced the Ferengi that it would be more profitable long-term to keep the mugato alive as a tourist attraction.
