The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun (2021)
Every frame is a painting
This truly is Wes Anderson at his best! About at least 4 different stories a prison artist, a writer/chess extraordinaire, a kidnapping, and a kidnapping. The production design must've been fun to work on there's so much details and pastilles. The cast was perfect, pacing was just right, writing is brilliant and the exciting vibes all around were superb. From my experience the film is a masterful delight.
Last Night in Soho (2021)
Intersting film
Interesting film and very entertaining. There are things that depending on how you view things, may feel like flaws or things the movie did not get right. Stylish and probably with quite a few in-camera effects (I imagine certain tricks were used to avoid a higher special effects cost, but I may be wrong). A few exquisite jump scares and a really good story as a backbone. Great cast - it has been ages since I last saw Terence Stamp on the big screen.
My Dinner with Andre (1981)
Ahead of its time
My Dinner with Andre is about two men who meet for dinner and have a very different kind of conversation. Douglas Adams would say it's about Life, the Universe, and Everything (at least it would seem). Its way ahead of its time, and risky yo make a film like this at the time it was made.
Red Notice (2021)
Netflix thrash
Overall the film goes nowhere.
An Interpol-issued red notice is a global alert to hunt and capture the world's most wanted. But when a daring heist brings together the FBI's top profiler John Hartley (Dwayne Johnson) and two rival criminals Nolan and Sarah (Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot), there's no telling what will happen. There are plenty of twists coming one after another, there's breathtaking action and then there is gripping screenplay. The 90 minutes never look boring and that's the biggest triumph for Red Notice.
Netflix will make you watch it , so no way I can stop you.
No Time to Die (2021)
No time to die, but you do need time to watch this film
Its almost 3 hours long.
When I first saw Daniel Craig play James Bond 15 years ago, it felt quite divorced from the Bond I grew up with. Now I could name many more things that this film revisits and I probably still would miss some. There are many references here, either visually or via audio. It is almost funny because it takes its time - and the rest of the film sometimes feels rushed. Many known faces return, but many new ones too.
The ever excellent if only shortly used Ana de Armas (no pun intended) or our uber villain Rami Malek. Some stunts would put the Fast and Furious franchise to shame - but if you did that, you would derive yourself of a lot of fun. Also to conclude with a fun "fact": the title No time to Die has been used before by another movie in 2006. The year Daniel Craig became Bond!
Plebs (2013)
Love it..
The simplistic lifestyle that is been shown might be repetitive but that's what makes it even better. Groomio, Marcus and Stylex are silly goof balls you can't help but love. The ska music in this show, although you would think that doesn't work in ancient Rome, is excellent. There are some scenes I laughed so hard I cried, like the breast milk dousing scene. This show is really fantastic and I highly recommend it.
Army of Thieves (2021)
Meh
"Army of Thieves" is a prequel to the zombie movie "Army of the Dead". The movie follows the character of Dieter, played by Matthias Schweighöfer. Reviewer says heist movies doesn't get him worked up and the storyline just didn't bring much entertainment or enjoyment to the table for me. After watching it, I felt like I had effectively wasted more than two hours of my life. A prequel to Army of the Dead that has less zombies and more Wagner.
The film follows Sebastian (Matthias Schweighöfer), a mild mannered bank teller with his own YouTube channel detailing the best safes in the world to crack. He is recruited by a gang of thieves led by Gwendoline (Nathalie Emmanuel) to break into three legendary safes based on Wagner's ring cycle.
Basic netflix thrash.
Finch (2021)
Why did they even make this film
Tom Hanks is freakin' amazing! Every body movement, facial expression and word that he speaks is pure greatness! The story just wasn't engaging enough. It's quite hard to stay focused, as it just doesn't warrant your attention. If it wasn't for Tom Hanks, this film would be getting 1 stars across the board.
Finch (2021) is a visually pleasing 105 min long character introduction that surely won't retain your attention. The world looks beautiful, but it doesn't feel dead, there is no sense of hopelessness, the need to survive. I cannot rate it lower than 4/10 since the production and all the visual stuff were great. Can't say this for the music though.
Endeavour (2012)
Amazing show!
Maintains everything that makes Inspector Morse so good, while also containing enough to make it its own. Every bit as entertaining and every bit as tense as the original drama. Pacing is restrained, but that allows the atmosphere to come through. The characters are interesting, and are evolving more and more with every episode. All the acting is very good, but it's the performances of Evans and Allam that will always be remembered most vividly.
Ma (2019)
It could just have more of everything.
It could just have more of everything. It has nuances that could have been explored and pushed further. It never really gets scary. The film feels like very diluted juice.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001)
Great film for its time.
Probably a good film for its time. I din't enjoy it much myself, but its a very artsy and ahead of time. Probably more relatable for transgender crowd.
Dune: Part One (2021)
Good film
Good Film, really cinematic, but the whole film is just a build up for the sequel. Its really sad that they have not yet started working on the second part.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
one long VFX reel for some studio
This whole film is just one long VFX reel for some studio. It feel like a child has written the story to play with his gooey toys. Unbelievable, irrelevant and mostly stupid. I'm sure Tom hardy is ashamed of this waste of time.
Free Guy (2021)
great film
Free guy is a great film, I do recommend it, its very entertaining, its funny and interesting. Too bad the release was delayed for so long. Extremely family friendly.
The Boys in the Band (2020)
its ok
Its a mediocre film, with big stars and classic netflix fizz. Can't call it a waste of time, cause I did watch the whole film. But the film is bad enough that I have to force myself to add 150 characters to this review.
Our Friend (2019)
its a alright Friend
Its a alright film, the acting is great, but as usual Casey affleck is not a great actor. The rest of the crew hold the film together. Its a sad drama about a family friend.
Reservation Dogs (2021)
love this show
No fizz and jazz as often observed on Prime time TV. It has some great actors, I'm actually looking forwards to all the kids careers. Simple stories, simple build up with well written characters.
Nine Perfect Strangers (2021)
promote psychedelics.
Interesting show, with interesting characters. Good entertainment. Probably won't watch it again. The title sequence is pretty cool, a brief idea of what a mushroom trip feels like.
What If...? (2021)
Interesting perspective
It's a fun watch and very well made too. Good option from marvel fans. Marvel fiction doesn't feel that relatable or realistic. Good to watch it once.
The Night House (2020)
It's unique.
Story is unique and execution could've been more intense only just more or something. I guess the film feels incomplete. But let's hope they do not come with another sequel.
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
Great show
Great show. Korean drama that is perceivable for N. American Audience. Similar story attempts have been made in the past, but this one has a great blend of Drama with a little unpleasantries.
The Guilty (2021)
Its Ok
Its a big OK. You can watch it once. For some reason hollywood finds it easy to re-make a film rather than dubbing or adding subtitles. I might revisit this review once I see the.
Candyman (2021)
It's a little different
It's a little different, ends a bit ambiguously. But not uncommon for a horror film.
Fear Street: 1978 (2021)
ok film, out of the netflix factory
Ok film, out of the netflix factory. Filled with click baits to attract average crowd.
Fear Street: 1994 (2021)
