Magic Mike's Last Dance (2023)
Hard to finish
As with many of my fellow Magic Mike fans, Channing Tatum's dance routines are my favorite part of the franchise. This movie veered too far from what made the first two so great. It felt like they missed their targeted audience by trying to take themselves too seriously. I didn't sign up for an Oscar winning film, and found this movie very boring. I'm not opposed to seeing the Magic Mike show in Vegas, but I don't need a behind the scenes "making of" film. The storyline would have been fine for a traditional movie, but it failed as a finale to Magic Mike. I need more dancing and less ridiculous love story.
Malignant (2021)
B Movie for sure!
The first 10 minutes were so bad, I almost turned it off. I'm glad I stuck with it though. It's cheesy, predictable, and has a ton of plot holes. That being said, it's also creepy and has fun visual effects. I wouldn't watch it again, but I enjoyed it for the mindless joy it brought me.
Bridgerton (2020)
Perfect guilty pleasure
I had many doubts when starting this series including my distaste for period pieces. However, I was quickly caught up in the sheer fun of it all. I binged all 8 episodes in a couple of days and really enjoyed the intensity of the love affair. It may be smut, but it's a fun ride. Everyone is watching this for good reason!
Prodigal Son (2019)
Pulls you in and keeps you there
I'm 2 episodes in and hooked. Tom Payne is great as the genius profiler with a traumatic past and Martin Sheen is very convincing and creepy as the "loving" serial killer father. I like that the cases being solved feel like a background story and the manipulative father son relationship stays at the forefront.
