5 1/2 Great episodes followed by 30 minutes from the Hallmark Channel
5 June 2024
Really, what I put in the title, although I must add that the last half hour could have been part of an ABC Afternoon Special instead.

The five and a half episodes were well done even though it wandered through too many issues trying to reflect all society ills of the '80s. I'm sure it helped them stretch it to six episodes (which is beginning to become a real flaw in so many mini-series reaching for just one or two more episodes and that larger paycheck).

The last 30 minutes was just an orgy of feel-goodness. I cannot state strongly enough what an absolutely huge disappointment it was. I cannot recommend it.

I'm tempted to put a spoiler in here so people can avoid the last half hour, but have decided not to.

Someone financed this?

Warning: Spoilers
What a waste of time.

A couple goes camping. She's concerned. We don't know why. Is this something from her past? We never find out.

She seems to have general anxiety that has nothing to do with the plot. She does take pills and when panicking takes a lot and spills a lot. I think that is the only thing it had to do with the plot, but it didn't have me gasping in horror and hardly seems crucial to the plot.

The guy is clearly in love with her (he proposes) but she seems ambivalent for some reason. Haven't they known each other long enough? Is he on her friend list? Is he a space filler until she finds the love of her life? We don't know.

She kills him. We don't know why at the time but learn she has a good reason. Someone apparently wanted a plot twist here.

Some campers rescue her. She is uncommunicative so they don't know their lives are in danger and they should all get out of their. They pay the price for her lack of candor. Sure she is freaked out, but really?

So he comes back and bad things happen. Mostly to the other campers.

Then he says he is a scout from outer space and more are coming and by taking over the guy's body he is experiencing love. That's not good enough for her and she takes off, gets to the car and drives away. We see multiple spaceships or something coming to earth.

Ta da!

I felt this was written from the end of the movie to the beginning with a lot of fillers put in to extend a film that ended up being short anyway.

Tin Star: Commitment (2020)
Season 3, Episode 2
2/10
Filler
24 September 2022
This season is only six episodes and it should have been five or less. It would have been a better two season series with a few more episodes in each of the first seasons so this disappointing season could be avoided. This entire season left me disappointed and let down about the series making it go from interesting to mundane.

And as usual they go wandering around aimlessly much of the time. It's hard to know what is aimless and what contributes to the plot, but anyway, they always meet up miraculously.

This episode was little more than a filler. Was it supposed to be cute? Ooooh, let's watch them be stupid drunk.

It added almost nothing whatsoever to the series. Kind of insulting to the viewer.

Shark Tank: Shark Tank LIVE! (2022)
Season 14, Episode 1

High School Pep Rally

What a mess! This episode was complete chaos. The absurd amount of talking over one another made it incredibly difficult to follow ANY conversation between Sharks as well as with presenters. There is always a lot of talking over one another on this program but this was completely out of hand. It NEVER ended. It was like a three ring circus held in one ring.

It was clear when the Applause sign went on as the audience would clap hysterically, not in the least bit spontaneously, although later in the program boredom seemed to set in with many of them and some appeared to be looking for the exit signs. I don't blame them. What a waste of a Friday night.

It was advertised that it would have home audience participation. Silly me. I thought that meant the home audience might have some input into what they thought of the product being pitched or which of the Sharks should get the deal. No. A couple was pitching compostable underwear. The question for the home audience about this was "How often do you buy underwear?"

The Sharks seemed to be trying to outdo one another by standing out and gloried in the attention of a live audience. It was like a Madonna moment. Look at me! Look at me! Look at me! Why they thought acting like buffoons was a good idea and why the director didn't take the opportunity during a commercial break to tell them to freaking calm down baffles me.

I enjoy Shark Tank. I considered switching channels, but it was like watching a train wreck. I won't be sucked in another time.

I will never watch another episode with this format.
