Earlier this year, "The First Omen" arrived in theaters, offering us a prequel to the 1976 Satanic horror pic "The Omen." In theory, this sounded like a bad idea: a lazy way to cash-in on brand awareness without offering anything new to the horror genre. But surprise, surprise! "The First Omen" turned out to be surprisingly good, especially for a studio mandated horror prequel. It may not have set the box office on fire, but in the sturdy hands of filmmaker Arkasha Stevenson, "The First Omen" was smart, captivating, and most of all, scary. Now, here comes "Apartment 7A," which is following a similar formula: It's another prequel to a devil-themed horror classic, in this case Roman Polanski's "Rosemary's Baby." My knee-jerk reaction was to be skeptical to this entire endeavour, but I was also skeptical about "The First Omen," and that turned out to be a wonderful surprise. Could it happen again?...

Ah, love—does anything tickle our hearts quite like it? But, as Justin Bieber croons in Sorry, sometimes love means having to make amends. Behind the chart-topping hits Baby, Boyfriend, Yummy, and Peaches lies his real-life relationship drama. Remember the not-so-easy romance of Bieber and Selena Gomez—the duo famously known to fans as ‘Jelena’?

Their relationship timeline from 2010 to 2018 resembled an on-again, off-again TV drama that kept even the most disinterested viewers hooked. Fast forward to today, and our Baby singer has morphed from the teenage heartthrob headlining teen magazines to a father, alongside his better half, Hailey Bieber.
But interestingly, Bieber wants to break the ice and bid farewell to the awkwardness between him and his former love Gomez, especially amid whispers of her engagement with Benny Blanco.

John Waters’s Cry-Baby is the ideal companion piece to the filmmaker’s 1988 hit Hairspray. That film takes place in the early ’60s, against the backdrop of the civil rights movement, and deals in a lighthearted fashion with thorny issues of racial segregation, while Cry-Baby uses its mid-’50s setting to poke fun at class conflict in staid Eisenhower-era Baltimore. And both films are perfectly realized period pieces awash with the music of their respective eras: Hairspray focusing on soul and R&b, Cry-Baby packed with catchy rockabilly and doowop numbers.
Cry-Baby focuses on Wade Walker (Johnny Depp), the leader of a redoubtable gang of “drapes,” a Baltimorean spin on the greasers of the time. Events begin to echo Romeo and Juliet once Cry-Baby, who’s known for driving girls crazy for the way he’s able to shed a single tear, makes a play for Allison (Amy Locane), the...

Dr. Marcus Andrews hasn’t just forfeit his job as president of St. Bonaventure Hospital on ABC’s The Good Doctor. He’s left San Jose behind entirely.
As TVLine was first to report, original cast member (and U.S. Senate hopeful) Hill Harper exited the medical drama ahead of its seventh and final season. He was one of four remaining series regulars from The Good Doctor Season 1, including leading man Freddie Highmore (who stars as Dr. Shaun Murphy), Richard Schiff (who plays Shaun’s surrogate father, Dr. Aaron Glassman) and Chuku Modu (who reprised his role as Dr. Jared...

Indulge us in a walk down memory lane. It's 10 years ago. Justin Bieber is a moppet-haired Canadian creeping onto the Billboard charts with "One Time" and "One Less Lonely Girl". Meghan Markle is doing her best to piece together a career with television guest spots and a gig as a briefcase girl on Deal or No Deal. Her future husband, Prince Harry, still living that bachelor life, isn't aware that the woman who will become his whole world even exists. Instagram hasn't been invented yet, Ashton Kutcher has just bested Britney Spears and CNN in the race to gain more than one...

This is the festival’s third year of existence, and Mike Goodridge’s second edition as artistic director. So things should be approaching a degree of maturity now. Goodridge calls it an evolution.
What are the major programming lines of the 3rd edition of Iffam?
We are launching the New Chinese Cinema section. The idea is simple, to be a bridge to such a fascinating industry. We are showing six new Chinese films that played this year. In fact, we have three from mainland China two from Taiwan and one from Malaysia (“Fly By Night”).
A lot of Chinese independent film now is really good. It is bold, experimental and deserves more exposure. But it can still be hard to see Chinese films other than those which dominate the box office.
We also have Chinese films throughout the program. They include “Suburban Birds” in competition, “Lost, Found” as a special presentation,...
