What a pilot! And WHAT were they thinking not to run with this? It was a cross between Revenge and The OC and would have reached more than just the fans of the 90s movie. Sarah Michelle Gellar has still got it and boy do we miss her.

Every true fan of the original movie would LOVE this! It has exceeded my expectations!!! This was supposed to be made into a show! It's a shame that no network wanted it! The only downside is that Annette was played by another actress and not by Reese Witherspoon and maybe that's one of the reasons.

If you've seen the film (not the stupid sequels), you'll understand my frustration.
I completely get why this planned series wasn't picked up after this pilot. Not even Sarah Michelle Gellar's star power could glaze over the fact that the production quality is so poor in this one.
As a fan of The OC, I was pleasantly surprised to see Sandy Cohen playing Edward Valmont here.
The new Annette Hargrove is nowhere near as cute as Reese Witherspoon, more conservative, and less polished than the "paradigm of Chasity and virtue" that we know. Her son though, is strangely a good blend between Sebastian and her old self; virginal yet so eager to be whored out.
The whole schematic plot is also so contrived and nothing reminiscent of the original. The dialogues unremarkable/unquotable unlike the original.
This spin-off has made it certain that there should be no sequels ever again, and I'm embarrassed that SMG even accepted this role. It's beneath her now.
